Flavorah is the light in a chaotic world
submitted about 10 years ago by Vaganusaurus

I'm amped up and typing this as it comes to mind. Hopefully this horribly written monologue reaches someone with minimal offense to others.

When I first got into DIY ejuice - like everyone else I thought that you could take TFA - Chocolate and TFA - Banana and make a chocolate banana. Hangsen, Inawara, FlavorArt, Capella, etc#. Out of all those brands and 1000+ flavors you could only ever hope to find a couple dozen flavors that mix the way you think they will. By and far mixing has always been about painstakingly individually sampling flavors, studying the 'molecules' and praying for the best. It has always required painstaking trial-and-error and meticulous notetaking to many anything worth a damn. It's an exercise in frustration, a timesink and a drain on our wallets.

If it wasn't for the efforts of the flavor mixing greats(many of them here, who don't need named) and the co-operation of countless hundeds more we wouldn't have gotten this far.

I'm a busy person. I work onwards of 12 hours a day with hardly a moment to wind-down. Where I once had the time, patience and capacity to study the flavor notes, excel charts, google doc sheets, and bullet points spread all over the internet - I now have none. And not for a lack of desire.

Finally having hopped on the FLV train I can say it eases the crazy. Each flavor I have tried, enjoyable or not mixes, blends, and tastes as you'd imagine. I urge everyone who hasn't done so yet to by a 0.01 scale, 100 plastic bottles, a couple 120ml squeeze bottles and every FLV flavor that piques your interest. If you aren't mixing by weight yet, get out my face.

  1. Fill 15ml dropped with 100mg/ml nicotine.
  2. Fill 120ml squeezer bottle with 100% VG
  3. Put bottle on scale - tare
  4. Add 11g of VG - Tare
  5. Add juice in 0.10g/1% increments following the recommended percentages on the bottle (which are actually accurate)
  6. Add more flavors (that you think will taste good; use caution regarding max flavor percent)
  7. Add 0.10g nicotine for every 1mg/ml you want (for 100mg/ml)
  8. Shake and vape.

For the ease of others and reduce the shit ratio to valuable information ratio here are some recipes for your benefits.

You've gotten me out of some dark times with your recipes, flavor notes, and personal endorsements. GGG is damn fine too.

I typed this up oiled to the elbows with VG, dizzy, coil seared lips and an irregular heart beat. Fixed a few typos.

Why did you put molecules in quotes?

Felt appropriate at the time and I'm not sure why.

Just like "feeling" commas, or, something, like, that...!

It was probably more to illustrate just how silly it can be in a somewhat hyperbolic tone.

I've been mixing for a few months and while I have about a katrillion flavors, my FLV collection always ends up my go to. Pretty much any fruit plus FLV custard makes a killer ADV. I don't think I've got a single mix that uses more than 4% of any FLV flavor and most I use in 2% or less, even with high vg content. So yeah, a me too post, but I'm time constricted too and really appreciate FLV and the people of this sub who've contributed their insights. :)

Man those flavorings are expensive , i thought FA was steep lol.

It's the naturally occurring diacetyl upping the price of using the flavors.

They are not cheap, but you get what you pay for hands down IMO.

I won't spend that much on 15ml no matter how good it is , thats just nuts lol. FlavorArt has been great for me and i get it for around $3.25 -$3.50 for 10ml.

So $5.49 for 15ml = $0.37/ml (Flavorah Cost if you don't buy bulk)...

$3.50 for 10ml = $0.35/ml (FA Cost if you don't buy in bulk)...

Didn't realize 5.7% more expensive was that outrageous considering it's about twice as good =).

And 30ml of FA is around $5-6. 15ml from FLV is that much and needs mixed at 1/2 as much for most flavors.

by kirktabout 10 years agoBring on the Diacetyl, baby

They are about twice as concentrated as most brands, and worth every penny.

Time is money. $100 in $1.75 assorted flavorings for BCV won't get you are far as $50 in flavors from FLV.

My advice to everyone is to buy everything flavorah and supplement your collection with flavors combed through by people with a better palette, more time, more money, or better sense than you. Unless you're one of those people to me - in which case thanks in advance.

I'll pretend i didn't hear that wise ass response .

I have all the time in the World by the way , and can afford whatever i want , i just highly doubt Flavorah is superior to FA thats all .

If you don't mind or even enjoy the tedium of testing and mixing more hit-and-miss flavors then power to you but this post wasn't for those kind of people (to which I am eternally grateful to). There are certainly many other flavors from many other vendors that I believe to be on par with FLV. It's just that there is so much more to sort through. I'm trying to compile a list of such flavors now.

Since I last responded to you I've mixed two new flavors. A coffee one I didn't like and this.
Boysenberry .3g
Tropical Punch .2g
Peach .15g
Lime .1g
Pink guava 0.5g
strawberry .1g

It's not exceptional but I could vape it all day if I needed to.

Great post man. Thanks a lot. I haven't tried FLV, but based off what you are saying, you are saying I won't regret it.

Uhg - just when I thought I had all the flavors I needed...

Order going in Monday.

Well my palette isn't as refined as most I'm sure. Unless I were going to market my juice, which I'm not, I'm just gonna stick with the regular Flavorings I've been using. Do they hand out Michellin stars for E juice? This is beginning to feel like I need to go to culinary school just to make something froufrou and I don't even like froufrou stuff.

How about steep times? More or less shake-and-vape ready?

1 points

by Vaganusaurusabout 10 years ago

FLV has been shake and vape for me with no steep time. As to whether they get better I cannot yet tell. Not like a select few big recipes here that are amazing but need high heat steeps for the base or prolonged curing or airing out.
