Hopping on the hype train, I ordered up some FA Joy last week when Bull City Vapor had the 30mls in stock. It arrived two days later (shout out to BCV) and I whipped up a 5ml with 3% Joy at 40/60.
I hate to go against the grain on this one, but to me it tastes like a flat Bud Light. I can understand the sweetness and almost get the "funnel cake" on the inhale, but on the exhale, its a flat, skunky, yeasty Bud Light that someone put a cigarette butt out in...at least to me. Not to mention the throat hit...throat PUNCH rather.
Tried mixing it in at 1.5% in one of my favorite custard recipes and it completely overpowered all of the deliciousness of my custard.
Anyone else get this taste? Did I get a bad batch?
Was this supposed to be a light Tobacco flavor from FA? I know it was released along with Glory and Storm.
Anyways, was really looking forward to this flavor. Curious if anyone else is feeling the same way?
Still waiting on the group buy so I can't say but I sincerely hope you got a bad batch because I've been insanely hoping it was the mother of all flavors as it sounds.

Yeah I'm pretty sure he uses a clearomizer on an ego pen. His tasting notes are handy though
Actually, I was convinced by Enyareklaw's DIY OR DIE youtube vid featuring his Bronuts recipe. I'm just thinking only a tiny amount should ever be used.
Had this flavour for some time now and i can say this is deffinetly not a stand alone like flavour but more of a twister to some bakery flavours. You want to go real low percentage with this. I have one recipe where i use this as 0.75% and i can still taste the joy after two weeks of steeping

I'm SO glad I'm not the only one! Everyone keeps saying how great Joy is, I got mine today & the first thought I had was "did I get a bad batch, cuz this smells/tastes like stale beer". I thought it might just be me, but my roommate thought the same thing.
Ha! I'm glad I'm not the only one too! When I first got it, I did a 3% standalone mix as recommended by HiC...nasty.
I still can't find a good recipe for it, can taste that shit even at .5%...
Same here, it's just nasty in everything! Hey, I think I saw a pizza flavor somewhere, maybe mix it with that and have pizza & flat beer ejuice! LMAO If you happen to come up with a recipe that hides the flavor, by all means let me know, cuz my dumbass bought 30ml of that nasty shit 😕
Im also waiting on the group buy for mine but from what I understand it works best with pastry and dessert flavors.
The new FA flavors aren't very good as standalones but they really shine in low percentage as supporting flavors. (0.5%)
Where do you get in on group buys?
I have a lot of downtime at work so I spend a lot of the day on reddit. There's a couple group buys that pop up on this subreddit every now and then. /u/Botboy141 hosted the one I was referring to, though I think it may be too late for it now. Could always ask if he ordered some extra though!
I may have a little bit extra but not promising anything until it arrives and I have a chance to play with it in a few potential creations of my own. Based on my calculations, not accounting for overfill and wastage, I should have about half a liter extra. If I can't develop anything in a few weeks that I love with this stuff, I'll likely throw it back up available for sale on my site at the same price point offered for the group buy just to unload the majority of it.
Pretty sure I'll get crafty with it though and it'll make it into one of the three ideas I have for it presently.
I mean, FA Joy is an odd flavor...but idk bout flat budlight cigarette butt odd. I'm in love with FA Joy and think it's a great flavor enhancer. Whenever you got a sweet pastry, or heavy bakery, FA Joy tends to really bring out the entire mix. Also, a custard is definitely not the mix you should be using this in. Any kind of creamy vape isn't gonna go well with this except for maybe a milkshake.
Recommend it for mustard milk or a pie flavor? Would you recommend under 1%?
Not really in Mustard Milk, unless you switched Strawberry for StrawRipe, and added in some bakery notes, like FA Cookie. A pie flavor is perfect for Joy. If you look at my Bronuts recipe, it really is the perfect example of how to use FA Joy effectively. And I recommend usually around 0.5-1% I do have a recipe where it's at 2.5% though, so it depends on how much of that EM flavor you want to pull through.

As I mentionned before, I'm still waiting for someone to come up with a good recipe with that flavor, I abandoned after more that 20 tries ..... And I have this 115ML doing nothing in my stash !
I think your just one of the few that are not crazy about the taste , everyone doesn't taste the exact same thing , most seem to like it and if you don't thats OK .
At least you didn't order a huge bottle (or did you) , i don't know. Oh 30ml , thats pretty big , oh well you will be fine. I don't think it's a bad batch .
It is doughy so I can see where you'd get yeast/beer. Lol. I don't like it by itself. From the little I've heard of it so far, it's meant to be used in low percentages (less than 1%) in dessert/bakery vapes. It's an additive. I haven't messed it with too much. I liked it in one blend. By itself it's too flat/bland... I think, personally, that it has potential though.
After playing with it a bit, I've found Joy to work very well in small amounts, most notably it was great in a cinnamon apple danish I mixed (gave it more pastery richness) and terrible in a yellow cake mix (made it stale). It definitely works in heavy baking mixes, is out of place in light bakery mixes, and tastes like ass by itself (to me.) I get a sort of "sweet stale fried bread" thing from it. I see where the funnel cake thing comes from. IMO,if your funnel cakes taste like this you need new carnies. Different from the corn/graininess of acetyl pyrazine. Useful accent, but not essential.
