Mixes that pair well with beer
submitted about 10 years ago by TileBoss87

What are some mixes you guys enjoy alongside a nice dark brew? Specifically IPA's, Brown ales, and stouts.

All of my favorite recipes i vape on the reg are mostly sweet bakery type vapes and not very good with beer so I am interested to see if you guys have any favorites for beer30.

I was thinking maybe some sort of citrus to go with the IPA's but other than that I'm not sure. What ya'll got?

Honestly, it may seem weird, but the first iteration of an Orphan Tears clone I'm working on goes really well with more stout ales.

10% TFA Strawberry

5% TFA Kiwi Double(or 3% FA Kiwi)

5% CAP VC1

1% TFA Cinn. Danish

The sweet and tart strawberry-kiwi keeps you refreshed on the inhale, balancing the bitterness of the beer really well, while the sweet cinnamon stands out on the exhale and refreshes the palate.

I'll mix this up tomorrow with FA kiwi. Looks yum.

I know the flavor% is a bit high, but I assure you it doesn't become that shitty-house juice flavor after a week steep.

This is probably inappropriate since it's a plug for my commercial product rather than a DIY tip, but my Buckland liquid was specifically designed to pair with IPAs and Pale Ales.

This looks goood. I'll be staying a week in Bryson City area next month. I'll be sure to stop on my way through Asheville and pick up a bottle or 2.

Awesome! Asheville Vapor has it in their 3 stores currently. Shoot me a message if you want to grab a beer while you're in town :)

I recently brewed a vanilla oak Porter, and the honey hazelnut tobacco blend I usually make goes real well with it.
5% tfa hazelnut.
1% nn honey tobacco 70/30

That sounds delicious. I've yet to play with any tobaccos but soon.

This should be a good starting point

I can't taste a lot of my flavors when I'm drinking dark beers... and I forget which ones I've found that work well. As soon as I can't taste a juice I switch to another profile (which happens multiple times a day lol).. I should probably be taking mental notes.

Yea i get that too. The beers I usually drink are dark and flavorful and it definitely cuts down the flavor of whatever I'm vaping. I'm drinking goose island IPA right now and have tried around 15 or so mixes to see what compliments it the most. So far my Apple pie is winning. The bright notes from FA Fuji cut through the hops pretty nicely.

i drink a lot of beer too. I'm a hoppy or malty guy as it sounds like you are. I always haul a tobacco flavor out when I'm getting all hopped up. It's actually a holdover from my smoking days but it works. Cigar or pipe flavors are pretty strong and will break through the hop haze nicely.

Right now, I'm actually enjoying a Mill Street Cobblestone Stout and vaping "Tobacco #9" which is a a Vanilla Pipe Tobacco I came up with.

I want to get some tobacco flavors but have no idea where to start. Could you recommend some that you like?

It's so hard with tobaccos because everyone seems to have different tastes. I really like the ECX Tobaccos - Desert Ship, Cigar, Captain, Black Mile and Black Mile Plus, French Pipe to name a few.

TFA RY4 Double is one that everyone seems to like and there are a lot of recipes out there that use it.

FA has some nice flavors - FA Tobacco, Maxx Blend and 7 Leaves.

For "nutty" tobaccos I like ECX Real Cig and INW Tobacco Symphony.

And lastly for something along the analog lines (although I don't think they taste a thing like an analog) I like INW S'Camel with a little bit of INW DNB added.

Thanks for the insight. I'll pick some of these up on my next order

I'm glad you tossed out Dessert Ship. I wanted to recommend that based on what I've read about backwood's brew's casablanca flavor but haven't been able to grab it myself to compare.

This may sound odd for the OP, but I wonder about going in the opposite direction of sweet--flavors like Oakwood, or Amber. And since nuts seem to pair so well with beer, any nut-heavy blends, especially if you find ones that go more salty than sweet.

I used to enjoy vaping Jango while drinking. I've seen a couple attempts at clone recipes for it but never tried them.

I am not much of a drinker anymore, but last night I had a yuengling with orange cream soda that I seen on here a few weeks ago worked really good together. Also I like lemon vapes with beer usually my lemon custard.

I've made a bunch of variations but the one I have been using for the past month or so is a version of grants vanilla custard and lemon.
Cap French vanilla 3%
Cap New York cheesecake 3%
Cap lemon Sicily 3.5%
Fa lemon Sicily 2.5%
Cap vanilla custard v1 5%
Let me know what you think.

I made a caramel coconut custard, and paired it with Left Hand's Nitro Milk Stout...it was fantastic!

Milk stout is one of my favorites. Haven't tried the nitro though.

I've got a coconut custard I vape pretty regularly as well. I'll have to throw some caramel in there next time.

Back in the day and even present. Malty and Malty Toffee from Backwoods always paired well with beer. All Malty is from what I've read and tried is EM & a little sweetener. Some use Cotton Candy.

Vaping and IPAs do not mix well at all for me. I bring my shittiest juice to the bar with me because after the second IPA I cant taste my juice at all.
