So, while I'm still not sharing my recipe for the Awesome Apple Pie flavor that I sell, I recently started tinkering around with an alternative option based on some feedback I've received. I've never seen less than a stellar review of my Awesome Apple Pie, but I've heard a few things that made me think it could be better.
With the recent acquisition of some complimentary flavors for it, I thought this could work really well and honestly, it's quite amazing.
Rather than using any pre-mixed Apple Pie Concentrates in this variation of Awesome Apple Pie, I basically decided to re-create an apple pie from scratch (minus the crust which I'm more than happy to use TFA's Pie Crust for.
One of the keys to my Awesome Apple Pie has always been the inclusion of FA Fuji Apple, which, in case you haven't tried it, is pretty much one of the tastiest apples out there. It does however have a bit of alcoholiness to it when first mixed so it will need some steep time. The combination of Fuji Apple with FA Liquid Amber in a two to one ratio creates a wonderful baked apple flavor.
Next we move on to the pie crust, this is where I changed things up quite a bit. Using TFA Pie Crust as the base for the bakery and spice notes that it adds, in combination with INW Biscuit to add a bit more butteriness to things.
Lastly, we have a our spices/toppings. We've gone ahead and included FLV Rich Cinnamon at 0.5% (this could be upped if you like your Apple Pie heavy on the cinnamon) but I like it right there after a week or two steep. We've also gone ahead and used FLV Caramel to add a slight hint of sweetness and a pack of caramel flavor, something I've done with my previous recipe, but this time using FLV as this shit is outstanding.
Lastly, 4% TFA Vanilla Swirl (you can play around with CAP Vanilla Custard or TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream in it's place) as I prefer just the hint of vanilla and creaminess over having the straight up ice cream like flavor for the a la mode touch.
Lastly, we top it off with 1% of TFA Whipped Cream to lighten it up and add some sweetness.
Without further ado:
Awesome Apple Pie V2
4% FA Fuji Apple
2% FA Liquid Amber
2% TFA Pie Crust
1% INW Biscuit
1% FLV Caramel
0.5% FLV Rich Cinnamon
4% TFA Vanilla Swirl
1% TFA Whipped Cream
If you want a little less apple bang feel free to lower the FA Fuji Apple concentration but lower the FA Liquid Amber accordingly as well to maintain a 2 to 1 ratio.
If you want more Pie Crust, you can up the Pie Crust as high as 5% without muting other flavors but IMO, after a week or two steep, this 2% is more than enough. You can add a little more butter flavor for your preference by adding a bit more FLV Biscuit (max 2%) and sub out the Vanilla Swirl for something diketone heavy.
Any questions ask away!
Edit: I prefer this Max VG with 2% distilled water for wicking purposes as I most often do. This is excellent as a shake and vape for me. The apple doesn't pop as much after a week as the pie crust matures more. Excellent shake and vape, amazing steeped.
Edit 2: I should note, that you can substitute your favorite apple into this mix, just know you'll need a reasonable percentage of most to get the flavor to come through. INW Two Apples works really well in here too @ 3%
>INW Biscuit
Why do you hate me lol
Because you love me.
Giving Cat house Vapor a go trying to get a 30ml of all day, but constant AVS error/calls from the bank is denying me :(
Thanks for your continued contributions to this sub, all of which are incredible. You've helped a ton of people out here.
Can you pass down any of your tasting notes on liquid Amber? I'm looking for different applications for it before I add it onto my next flavor order. But rest assured, this is a recipe that I will be trying ASAP!
Thanks again Botboy, you da bestest!
Well i have almost 8oz of AAP mixed up right now. So i have to ask myself the question. Do i order the things i need for this now or wait until i vape all of this delicious AAP first? I have everything but the FLV flavorings. I suppose if i vape nothing but AAP i can kill the bottle in a week and a half.
Yep, looks like ill be ordering some stuff. Thanks for sharing BB. And the Fuji Apple thing, if you dont have it get it. Not only is it an excellent apple flavor but it adds a juiciness to your recipes. I use it is very low %'s to add juiciness to many of my recipes, low %'s @ (.25-.5%) will give you this feel without adding apple flavor.
FWIW, this profile is quite different than traditional AAP. It's a bit more crust and spice heavy which others had complained was missing a bit. The crust is also entirely different, not just more noticeable but different flavor profile. The apple really isn't popping as much in V2 either, but quite tasty!
Sounds excellent, perhaps i will like them both. Caramel and Vanilla sound like a nice touch and to me the crispness of the apple in AAP was perfect. It isnt named Dutch Apple Pie, it is Awesome Apple Pie so i dont expect a cinnamon blast while vaping it.
AAP is seriously the best apple pie vape i have had.
