Search for Poptart, and the best frosting flavor
submitted about 10 years ago by crosstown_rebel

So. I was at a b&m yesterday and they had this juice, Angry Whale was the brand. The strawberry poptart was literally poptart in a bottle down to the exact icing and aroma of the strawberry. It's literally killing me how they got that sprinkled frosting poptart aroma and taste in the juice and I need to replicate it immediately.

Now, they also have a blueberry glazed doughnut flavor and I noticed the same frosting aroma was in that juice as well. What frosting flavors could this be? There was definitely a ton of sweetner in there just like real poptarts, but I'm looking for that specific funfetti type sprinkled frosting flavor that has that really artificial aroma that goes on top of poptarts.

Hahaha whats up man? I'm the guy from Charm City you were asking how they did it. I'm still tryin to figure it out myself. It really is dead on. From the dry crust flavor to the gooey jelly filling. They nailed it.

Funny to see this post on here the next day.

If anyone has some ideas I'm all ears as well.

seeing your baltimore name reference and charm city (skatepark i assume?) where are you getting this juice from? a shop in the city or outside the city?

VapeRunners and Charm City (the b&m he works at, have it) I think that's about it. It's probably local because I haven't seen it anywhere else. Which means /u/enyawreklaw might be from.. baltimore?

Wesley's Vape and Hops up in Elkton is the shop that makes it. Cool guys and nice bar/shop.

stop it dude! no way!!!

i need to know this flavor... i use to be obsessed with strawberry poptarts and i absolutely have to know.

im thinking FW Cake Batter Dip for the top.. Might match their price point a little bit with the cheaper flavors, or maybe even TFA frosted donut as I heard its just the icing and not the donut flavor. There's definitely a ton of em or surcralose in there. I gotta know the frosting scent though, that's the key. I'll adjust the rest to my tastes... just that sickly sweet poptart frosting aroma

In another thread in this sub, someone was talking about how FLV's strawberry tastes more like a sweet strawberry jam, and not actually strawberry, that might be a good jumping off point. Also, flavourart's marzipan and meringue might make a pretty good poptart crust flavor. I'll mess around with some flavors for a bit tonight and see if I can get something that resembles poptart crust and let you know. Unfortunately I don't have FLV strawberry, but I have a few others that I might be able to come up with something with.

Yeah I had this juice recently and was impressed. I've been actually impressed by a few premiums that have come out, as the last time I was really buying premiums was before I was mixing and there wasn't too many impressive ones. CAP Glazed Donut is nice to get that sorta waxy frosting flavor with a bakery base to build from. Also I think they're using a combo of StrawRipe/SweetStraw as the strawberry. I need to try that juice again to really break it down though.

Dude. I will gladly, gladly send you some if you manage to break it down.

I can definitely try. I remember vaping it that I was like "Def StrawRipe Sweet Straw combo, and maybe even FA Apple Pie for crust". For that frosting, I really gotta hit it again to get a feel for it. It didn't seem entirely too complex so that's usually a good thing when trying to mimic a juice

I was thinking FA marzipan and Meringue might be a good place to start for the icing/crust (haven't tried the juice in question, just going off of what the poptart I just ate tastes like).

Frosting could be a number of things. Glazed Donut (Cap), Frosted Donut (TFA), Meringue (FA), Joy (FA), Cream Cheese Icing (Loranne), and maybe even Cake Batter Dip (FW). I would look more toward TFA, Cap, FW; as most juice companies lend towards the cheaper flavorings to pad their bottom lines.

Jelly filling could be done with strawberry (So many different manufacturers and each good in their own way), and Liquid Amber (FA). Liquid Amber gives a baked feeling. It could also possibly be Oba Oba(FA) and even Torrone(FA).

The Crust could be any number of things. Cookie (FA), Apple Pie (TFA/FA), Biscuit (INW), Graham Cracker (Many), etc. Their are so many different combinations of each that it could be any of those or all of them. There is even Pandoro (FA) which is a crust flavor that is not meant to be used as a vaping flavor. Some retailers will still sell it to you though.

The idea is intriguing and sounds delicious. As far as cloning it; well it would take someone with a good palette and time. Unfortunately cloning isn't as easy as it sounds; especially when we have hundreds of flavorings (From different manufacturers) to choose from.

Some good ideas to pull from. For the icing, if you literally went and smelled a poptart, thats what the icing smells like.

When I use to eat poptarts (Long long time ago); I would always eat the strawberry w/o the icing type. I understand what your talking about though. TFA Frosted donut is more of a glaze on the donut flavoring; but something about leaves a weird taste in my mouth. I see 3 components. It may be something you have to work on in 3 stages (Crust / Icing / Jelly filling). Once you nail each of those you can start mixing them in varying percentages to get a desired taste. It has piqued my interest somewhat. I wish I had more time to experiment. Hopefully this Fall I will be able to devote more time to DIY as I have quite a few flavors that I haven't even tried yet.

I put a few drops of Pandoro in my french toast batter. It's delicious

I... was literally thinking this exact same thing today. Poptarts would be freaking delicious in vape form. Let me know if you come across any good information!

Coming to a diy forum near you...

No guarantees but there will be something in the works. I've already got the juice coming by courier (or same day delivery whatever) right now. I'll start taking notes over the next couple weeks.

If anyone has any good info on the 100drops method or how to start testing flavors individually that would be dope!

Edit: i should mention it will be a collaborative effort with the man himself, enyawreklaw :)

FA Joy?

I dunno isn't Joy pretty new and hard to get? It's possible but I kinda doubt a small vape shop/bar out in farmville got a bunch of it and popped out this flavor so fast.

Maybe you're right though. I'd have to get my hands on some of that Joy to see what its all about.

I think Joy has been out for a year or so. I am kinda in the same boat as you though.

I tried this juice yesterday and holy shit thats a lot of sweetener. I personally hate capelllas glazed donut so that was the first thing i noticed when i tried all three flavors, massive amounts of glazed donut. The aftertaste was nice and almost pop tart but not quite there.i also just got a bittle of cake batter dip in at the same time and it tastes reallly close.

by crosstown_rebelabout 10 years ago

yeah its so sweet.. after spending some more time with it im not exactly trying to clone it anymore, but make it better. the actual juice is missing that crusty element to be completely honest, and the caps glazed donut has to be at least at 7% or more, it's basically all i smell. im going to try to keep the crust lower and introduce the cake batter dip for the icing, and add a bit of a crusty element ill work with later. im going to forgo the sweetner and do a strawberry mix like enya suggested

I have a juice in my upcoming line that you would be interested in, this is what I use for the frosting. 2% Vanilla CupCake (Cap) 2.5% Marshmallow (Cap)

So anyone actually come up with a poptart-esque recipe? I was thinking a nice poptart base to then build all sorts of flavors into.

Umm kind of. Probably glazed donut around 5% and somebody said meringue for the icing, i think cap super sweet might be in there personally. Play around with it
