PSA: If you use the e-liquid recipes website, you can change from drops to grams in your preferences.
submitted about 10 years ago by PinheadX

I didn't know this and it makes it SO much easier to use this site when I mix big batches now.

You'll need to have an account if you don't already. Go to the right hand side and click on User, then Preferences. Select the radio button for Use Grams (default is Use Drops)

Make sure to click Use Manufacturer Specific Gravities too.

Now your recipes will have the proper weights in grams to mix in bulk.

Hopefully this helps other people. I had no idea this feature existed.

I knew about the grams part but not the Manufacturer Specific Gravities option. Shit, and I've been using ELR for many months now. Thx!

Specific gravities were added around 2-3 months ago. It's still not recommended that you use them especially if are sharing or making a recipe you found online. Everyone here mixes under the assumption that 1ml = 1g just to make things easier, especially since we don't have specific gravities for all flavors

Yeah, but that doesn't matter if you're using a recipe that's given in percentages. You plug in the percentages in the recipe, and then you get the weights so you can mix by weight.

It actually does matter. If the creator of the recipe used 1ml = 1g and you are using different weights, you will have a different recipe.

It's like everyone is using 1 tsp in a recipe and you are using 1.1 tsp -- it's going to bit a little bit different

You're welcome! I just wanted to share what I figured out. If I had known this stuff earlier, I would have been using it instead of the hard to use spreadsheet thing I have been using. I'm on a Mac and there aren't many options that I could find for mixing by weight.
