I bought a 100mg VG nicotine base. I read a bit about storing it, and the precautions necessary to handle it. I vape at about 3mg - 6mg depending on the mood I am in. Anyway, I was thinking of diluting this down to 50 or 48 to make work into my 3mg-6mg recipes. Is this advisable/workable? Or would you dilute it further? I want to make an all VG mixture, so I assume its just a matter of a 50/50 mix right? 50%VG + 50%VG nic (@100mg) base = 50mg VG nic solution. One more question; I know I vigorously shake the final solution, but is it usable after shaking, or is there a steep time/waiting period I should take before using the final product in my recipes? Thanks for your help!
I wouldn't dilute it at all. 100mg is the easiest concentration to use in mixes, because the math is simple. If you want 3mg in 10mL, add .3mL; 6mg in 30 mL, add 1.8mL and so on.
Really? I was going off the warnings on Ecigexpress' website. They said not to use this solution directly in recipes, to dilute it first. I'm mainly diluting it as a safety precaution, because this is my first foray into DIY.
Use gloves, wear glasses, and have a wet paper towel around for any splashes. I've only ever used 100mg nicotine base, and it mixes really well into all my recipes. As long as you know that it's dangerous, and have a basic amount of common sense, you'll be just fine using it as is.
I dilute to 48 or 24 and store the majority of it in the basement freezer. Your math is right. Keep in mind that vg nic base is a relatively tough solution to get an even mix without hot spots. You'll want to mix the 100mg well before diluting it (especially assuming that you're going to be splitting into multiple bottles) , and then mix the diluted solution even more. Before working with it I always recommend mixing each time too.
I'm going to make a 50mg solution into a 30ml bottle 1st to see how that works for me. I plan on storing the rest of the 100mg solution in its container, in a plastic bag, in a ziploc screw container all in the freezer. I may use a clamp connected to a drill to shake the solution. Unless you have a better method to mix everything. Thanks for the help btw!
