Hi all,
I have always been a huge supporter of DIY as it is a lot of fun to get into! If you are on a budget, it's a great way to make sure that every bottle is exactly what you want, every time, because YOU are in control of how it's made! (And it doesn't take a week every time you try a new flavor!)
OK, oversharing again.
We recently discontinued ThrashBerry as it had low sales, and we already have a couple other Berry flavors, so we thought that if we aren't going to sell it full time, you guys should be able to make it yourself!
The flavor base is this
Harvest Berry - Capella - 33%
Strawberry (Ripe) - Flavor Apprentice - 33%
Boysenberry - Flavor West - 17%
Toasted Marshmallow - Flavor Apprentice - 17%
Once this is mixed, this is a flavor base that you can mix with whatever your preferred nic and PG/VG ratio is. The Gremlin Juice recipe for this flavor uses 20% flavoring to 80% filler and nic.
I hope you all find this helpful, and if you do have any questions about it that I may have missed or forgotten to mention, just let me know.
These kind gestures from well known and successful vendors is so freakin rad. Thank you so much for sharing! To go out of your way and let us know the recipe for one of your juices is just incredible. I've been getting into some berry mixes lately (mostly different kinds of yogurt), and as soon as I get boysenberry in my next order I'm gonna give this one a try.
Gremlin Juice was the first vendor that I really "fell in love with", as everything I ordered from you was just incredible. I haven't purchased much vendor juice since I got into DIY myself, but you guys will always be at the top of my list of recommendations to others. Cheers!
Hey bud, unless you plan on adding how you developed this recipe and what EXACTLY led up to it you need to put these types of posts in the monthly recipe thread. So sick of n00bs cluttering up this sub. Shits gone down hill and your why.
:-D Just kidding. Thanks Gremlin! These types of gestures dont go un noticed. Every few months i like to grab a bottle of something, try it and norm give it away, your on bat now. Last time it was Vapor Trails
I wouldn't mind talking about how exactly we got to this recipe :P
Originally this was a collaboration with /u/bigmillion for a Blind Disciple flavor. Since he really liked berry flavors and we'd just gotten some of the harvest berry flavoring we really wanted to make something around that flavor. Timelapse to some experiments and some back and forth feedback and Rich had a Eureka moment when he added marshmallow to smooth the flavors and all the berries just 'clicked'. It's definitely not the most complex recipe out there, but it just seemed too tasty to disappear.
Thanks! Wish I had these flavors lol.
LOL, They're not the most common out there. That Harvest Berry alone is worth the purchase though.
Thanks for sharing the recipe and for giving a little insight on your professional juice line. This sounds like an interesting mix. I've been wanting to find a good use for Harvest Berry, but I'm missing boysenberry. (I've actually seen boysenberry in a lot of mixes recently for some reason, so it's definitely on my list).
If anyone wants to skip making the flavoring base to mix at 20%, just swap out the 33%'s with 6.6% and the 17%'s with 3.4% so that still comes out to 20% flavoring.
I don't like the Boysenberry flavor by itself. I'm from the Northwest and LOVE boysenberries! This is not what a boysenberry tastes like. LOL It works well in berry mixes as a touch of "What the hell is that flavor?" kind of thing, but I was originally stoked about making a boysenberry pie flavor for myself. Oh well. Too many other flavors to worry about this one.
Have you tried Flavorah's Boysenberry? That shit is delicious.
I'm not from the NW but I've had boysenberries when I visited Oregon/Washington and they are delicious.
I have so many berry flavors now it's almost ridiculous for someone just making juice for them-self. Especially how many variants of strawberry/blueberry there are. But that won't shy me away from picking this one up as well.
It's a shame it's not as similar, but like you said, some are just really good compliments to other bases instead of the main focus.
Really kind of you to share, we really appreciate things like this!
Would you say that taking the flavoring a and blending them together produces different results than mixing them ala carte? I'm starting to believe that's the missing link in some of my clones.
Then again, it could just be to streamline the whole process! Either way, you rock for sharing.
I really don't think it's going to make a lot of difference in the final product if you mix them before hand or "on the fly". Honestly ALL of my prototype work is done as I go.. 2ml of this, .5ml of that, .5ml of the other, 12ml of VG, shake and taste. Once the final numbers are in a happy state, the larger premix bottles are made not so much to mix the flavors, but to keep from going insane. Easier to measure 3ml of liquid than to make each individually. I've personally never noticed a difference between the two methods.
I've often wondered about this, pre-mixing vs individual... Was worried about muddying flavors. Thanks for the insight!
edit: and for sharing! I was looking for a reason to buy Harvest Berry and FLV Boysenberry; Now, it seems, I have a good one. :)
