The purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a flavor and it's many uses.
####We're not just looking for you to post recipes you have containing the flavor of the week, but looking for you to share your process as you develop a new juice using the flavor of the week.
This should help us all to better understand how certain flavors interact, and give us all a launching point to perhaps discovering new wonderful recipes.
###Please post new recipes created using this flavor as well as any and all tasting notes as main posts. Thought process is encouraged also.
This thread will NOT be in contest mode so the best flavors and reviews of those should move their way towards the top.
While I definitely encourage you to branch out with this flavor and use some more rare flavors, I would encourage everyone to keep it in mind that others will not be able to try your recipe and comment or offer assistance if they do not have the flavors you are using. I would also encourage you to use this week's flavor as the "main" flavor in your recipe although this is not required.
You BETTER sample and offer tasting notes on your recipe.
Good luck to everyone!
##This Week's Flavor is: Banana
Unlike in the previous monthly contest thread, I am NOT limiting this to any specific flavor from any specific vendor. After all, our goal here is to come up with perhaps some unique uses of the weekly flavor or combinations others may not have thought of before. This should allow for maximum participation as well!

Bananasickle
7% Banana Cream (TFA)
6% Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (TFA)
4% Koolada 10%
3% Coconut (TFA)
Mixed at 70vg / 30pg
This has been my ADV for months.
This sounds like the eels aankles. Trying this later!
Edit: I don't have just coconut, but I have Coconut Xtra and FA Coconut. Any suggestions?
I was messing around with a reduction recipe (bourbon, syrup and sugars) and was trying to figure out what fruit goes well with it. Banana is pretty solid in there. So is apple and peach but the banana makes more unique.
Cap Banana and LA Banana Cream are more of a candy like banana flavor, which is what I like. I think laffy taffy banana is one of the best tasting things on earth. Also, actual bananas make my face pulse and turn red. So if you are into a more natural banana flavor I would use those instead of the two I have in this recipe.
TFA Kentucky Bourbon - 2%
(CAP) Cinnamon Danish Swirl - 0.5%
Acetyl Pyrazine 5% - 0.5%
Banana (CAP) - 2.0%
Banana Cream (LA) - 1.0%
Brown Sugar (TPA) - 0.5%
Cookie (FA) - 1.5%
Cream Fresh (FA) - 0.5%
Cream Whipped (FA) - 0.5%
Maple (Pancake Syrup) (CAP) - 1.0%
Vanilla Bourbon (TPA) - 1.0%
Vanillin 10% (TPA) - 1.0%
The banana is subtle but still very distinct. The creams are added to give a fluff and heavier feel to the vape. Without them it tastes too syrupy. The bourbon dies out a little after a proper steep but with the general mix of sugars and bourbons it still gives a good alcoholic reduction flavor.
I'll give this a shot. I only have one banana recipe and I posted a work-in-progresss version here before but I've made some slight changes and feel it's a little closer to completion. It's kind of strange but I enjoy it so maybe others will too.
B.B #2
- Cured Tobacco (FLV) - 0.7%
- Banana (FA) - 1%
- Banana Cream (LA) - 3%
- Hazelnut (FW) - 1.5%
- Hazelnut (FA) - 0.5%
- Vanilla Custard v2 (CAP) - 2.5%
- Dragonfruit (TFA) - 1%
- Meringue (FA) - 0.5%
- 5% AP (TFA) - 0.3%
I also add about 1 drop of Vape Wizard per 10ml but I'm not completely sure how it affects the flavor. The banana and hazelnut are what I taste the most. The meringue and vanilla custard are used to add creaminess and a kind of fullness to the vape. I think I remember reading somewhere here that dragonfruit can help bring out the banana in some cases, but I'm not entirely sure if it really changes anything. The tobacco is subtle but definitely noticeable. I used it mostly to add a slight earthy taste to the mix.
I got the idea of a banana tobacco flavor from a friend who also makes his own juice. I was kind of unsure about how I would like it but after about a 2 weeks steep I almost killed an entire 30ml in one day.
Nice 'n easy - I mix it at 78/22 vg/pg
6% Banana Cream TFA
2% Peanut Butter TFA
3% Cheesecake Graham Crust TFA
1% Marshmallow TFA
Originally had higher %'s of everything bar Banana Cream, but the combo of 4% Peanut Butter + 5% Cheesecake Graham Cracker (one of my favorite vapes) were great for the first 1hr or so, but then got lost - becoming too rich for my taste. Could raise Marshmallow next mix for science.
So I've been trying for months to create a Nana Pudding recipe that I'm happy with, I've gone through more variations than I care to remember (something like 30), and I'm still not where I want to be with it. So here's the thing, I want the flavor of Jell-O brand Banana Pudding (which is identical to LA) however, I also want to add some Nilla Wafers to the mix which I haven't been successful with.
I've tried every cookie variation I can think of but it's just not there yet.
Here's where the recipe stands right now..
8% LA Banana Cream
2% CAP Vanilla Custard V1
1.5% FA Cookie
1.5% INW Biscuit
1% TFA Marshmallow
1% FW Bananas Foster
I feel like it's getting closer but still getting muddled flavors without a crisp distinguishable cookie.
Thoughts are always appreciated.
FWIW, the above is absolutely delicious, just not as distinct of the two flavors (pudding and cookie) as I would like it to be.
What about Flavorah Vanilla Custard? The pudding note is wonderful!
Tried it, the pudding part is perfect, guess I should have mentioned that. It's the cookie that's struggling.
Not OT necessarily, but I appear to have zero capacity to smell or taste banana flavors in eliquids. Have tried probably 100 various banana juices and so far haven't had more than a hint.
Would love a banana runts vape but they all taste like dental office chemicals to me.
Curious if anyone else has this issue.
That's strange you can't taste it at all. Perhaps try adding some pear or more isoamyl acetate (banana flavor) and ethyl acetate (pear flavor)
Is it the actual flavoring a or mixed juices that give you problems?
I've tried both and even mixed my own from components and just don't "get it".
The closest I've come to enjoy a banana runts taste was a chocolate pudding vape that the blender said was just different chocolates and zero fruits, lol.
At best most banana vapes taste like stale Juicy Fruit after half an hour. Drives me bonkers because I used to love runts.
I'm the noobist noob at the moment, so I don't have much experience with this particular flavor. I have tfa ripe banana and capella banana. So far, I've made a few half decent banana cream recipes, and tried a banana cinnamon donut that didn't work out to well. Even when I took the banana flavor down to 3%, my banana cream recipes all turned out with too much banana and not enough cream. When I got my first order I tried a strawberry banana recipe with strawberry ripe and ripe banana, but it tasted like candy, rather than fruit. I think it was from the ethyl malto I added. I'd like to make a better strawberry banana flavor at some point though. I can't really make any new flavors at the moment, because I used up all my nicotine, but when I get more, I'm probably going to try to make a peanut butter banana vape. I fucking love bananas and eat them all the time, so I hope some good recipes get posted in this thread. Any tips on making the banana taste more real, and less like candy would be appreciated greatly.
Flavor West has a flavor called 'Monkey Farts' (I know...) that to me tastes just like peanut butter and banana. I add a bit of ripe banana to it since the peanut butter stands out a bit more, and it's delicious.
To me, Banana Ripe TFA doesn't taste "ripe" at all -- it tastes like green bananas. There is the high-note of banana present, but none of the deep richness that an actual yellow, perhaps slightly bruised, banana would have. I have since stopped using Banana Ripe TFA (I have an entire 4oz bottle sitting here!) and instead moved onto Baker's Banana. Baker's is a Russian flavorist brand and it's really hard to find. I've only found it on diy-ejuice.com, but it's really a great banana. Slightly candy-ish but the most natural banana I've tried so far (I have Banana FA, Banana Cream LA, Banana Cream TFA, Banana Ripe TFA, Banana, CAP, Banana INW).
Actually, just writing the Banana INW jogged my memory: if you want a really natural banana, INW is probably the most natural. I have a slight banana allergy (itchy throat) and this is the only banana that actually made my throat itch. The flavor is good, too.
Do you know of any way to mix cappella banana and tfa ripe banana into a realistic banana? I'll probably throw some inw banana in my next order. Can you still eat bananas since you're allergic by the way?
I've messed around with FA banana for a couple recipes and IME, it's the most "real" or "natural" banana flavor I have, up against LA banana cream, and TFA ripe banana. It's very mellow. Just don't use more than 2/3% or it may taste like something else that resembles a banana. ;)
Throw some FA Pear into the mix with FA Banana. So tasty.
Is FA pear good? I've not had much luck using TPA pear.
They are both better when used together than they are separately, I think. I've been working on a few pear recipes and tend to like 4% TPA Pear with 1% FA Pear or 3% TPA, 2% FA in them. Still tweaking a couple of the other components but the pear flavors are right were I want them like that.
Reallllllly I would never match those two together, but I love both flavors so I'm gonna try this asap haha. What % typically? Cause I've seen people on here say fa pear is extremely light, but I tend to hang around 1-2% with most FA flavors
You might find this interesting then..
>Isoamyl acetate, which is indeed found in bananas, is a very simple compound that is both cheap to produce and highly versatile. Diluted, it smells more like pears than bananas and logical combinations of this ester have proved popular. Pear drops, for example, a well-known classic British sweet, contain both isoamyl acetate (banana flavour) and ethyl acetate (pear flavour).
Okay so this last week has been my own personal banana flavor week. I've been trying to make a good banana flavor for my husband. I originally set out to clone Regular Banana Later by Vapor Chef but through that have realigned my end goals and I'm looking to make a cool banana vape that is authentic, sweet, and slightly creamy.
This is the recipe I made last night. My husband likes it, but I feel the bavarian cream gives it a rootbeer-type undertaste which isn't what I was aiming for. I also feel the revised version needs 1-2% more banana but this is what I have thus far. It's good, but I'm looking for damn near perfect.
FW Banana 8%
TFA Banana Cream 4%
TFA Koolada 1%
TFA Bavarian Cream 1 drop per 5ml
TFA Brown Sugar 1 drop per 5ml
I've heard talk that pear makes banana better, does it do it by making banana flavor taste more like authentic banana?
Hey there!
I really wanted to make a banana cream pie recipe and I think I've made something pretty good. It should be noted that this was a shake and vape as I haven't had time to steep it yet.
Banana Cream Pie
• LA Banana Cream - 5%
• TFA Dairy - 1%
• TFA Brown Sugar - 1%
• TFA Vanillin - 1%
• LA Butter - 0.5%
• CAP Graham Cracker - 3%
• CAP Banana - 2%
Sweetner (optional) - 3 drops/10mL
Vaped in a Billow v2 dual coil @ 1.0 ohms @ 30W
I started off with this recipe: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/aida-mollenkamp/double-banana-cream-pie-recipe.html
I originally wanted to use TFA Banana Cream, but I'm out :( so I opted for LA Banana Cream. 5% was a guessing point (Could use 6% for a little more banana flavor). I also wanted to add an additional banana note so I went for CAP Banana. It has a unique banana flavor that I just haven't gotten to use in much else, but I feel it goes pretty well in this one.
The foodnetwork recipe calls for whole milk, so I said hell why not try some TFA Dairy. I haven't tried it without this flavor yet though. I feel as if it adds a decent creamy note to it.
Brownsugar was also used as an ingredient in the actual recipe. I started off with 0.5% and bumped it up just slightly to 1% to make it a little more distinguishable.
Vanilla extract was also called for in the actual recipe, so i opted for Vanillin. This could probably stand to be increased for more flavor. Some possible other candidates: TFA Vanilla Swirl, Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, and FA Vanilla Classic.
LA Butter. This one im not quite sure about as I've never used this flavor before. I can't tell if this small amount of flavoring is doing anything justice or not (so this is TBD, could probably be mixed without).
Finally for the crust I went with CAP Graham Cracker over TFA Graham Cracker/ TFA Pie Crust because it also gives me a little bit of cinnamon flavor (IMO) which goes well with the recipe.
Again, this is just the second revision and I intend on upping the two banana flavorings to let the banana stand out a little bit more. LA Butter could probably be dropped (could someone weigh in on this flavoring for me?). I like where everything else is with the exception of a little more experimentation with the TFA Dairy (either drop completely or up/down).
"LA Butter. This one im not quite sure about as I've never used this flavor before." According to a post made by Applejackson on the ECF he emailed Wilton's about their Wilton Clear Butter Flavor and was told it contained no Diacetyl. I've been using it for months, it is good but at the percentages I use it, I can't really say it makes a BIG difference, but if you want/need a true butter flavor it's the one.
I'm not huge on bananas the fruit, so that translates in to not being terribly fond of banana the flavor... That being said, I do have one staple recipe in my DIY arsenal that has banana. The only flavoring I've ever touched is Flavor West-Banana. Rather potent as it is, so I use it sparingly for the undertone nuance only. Simply put, I just don't like banana :/
Strawberry Banana Piña Colada
-
FW Banana .5%
-
CAP Coconut 1%
-
LA Marshmallow 2%
-
FW Piña Colada 2%
-
TFA Strawberry Ripe 5%
-
CAP Sweet Strawberry 2%
If you think FW Banana is potent, just wait until you try any other manufacturers
That's the beauty of it, I won't :). I'm that guy that goes to a restaurant, finds a meal I like, and will NEVER order anything else from that restaurant. I'm a creature of habit, change is bullshit!
The whole week previous I've been experimenting with banana and came pretty close to a recipe I'm happy with last night. Can I retroactively share my insights and experiences?
TFA's Ripe Banana is one of my favorite flavors. I'm not a huge fan of the fruit, or anything banana flavored really, but there's something about that Ripe Banana that I just love. I've almost gone through 120ml of the flavor in the past 6 months, I mix with it all the time.
So I came in hoping to find a strawberry/banana yoplait type recipe breakdown but I'm leaving dissapointed. I have banana cream (tastes too candy like) and I have FA banana. Neither of which wow me in anyway. I did have a bottle of commercial e-liquid from TBD "Nana Custard" and it was spot on the taste of banana that I've been searching for. Just can't seem to find which vendor of DIY flavors matches it! Anyone have any idea?
Pretty sure John uses LA Banana Cream as the base note in his Nana Custard. I'm not sure what else he uses to augment it.
7% Vanilla custard (CAP)
3% Dulce de leche (TFA)
3% Banana cream (LA)
1% Ethyl maltol (Nude)
I'll be honest, I made this juice about a week ago so it hasn't had a whole lot of time to steep but right now I think it's pretty good and I think it won't get any worse over time. It's nothing spectacular by any means but I think it's alright for one of my first solo recipes.
