Oh Joy! What art thou!
First off let me say this is the first flavor review I have done. I am not truly that great at these things, but I had to do one for this flavor.
Flavourart has a few new flavors out; Joy being one of them. I ordered this flavor based off a few reviews I have read and the fact that I LOVE FA flavors.
I mixed this up at 3% in a 70vg/30pg mix; and vaped this on a Velocity RDA (.25ohm) at 70watts. And? It is amazing. Amazing in a "Huh what is that!" kind of way. Someone over at VU said it was like cotton candy and funnel cake. I think they were kind of right. I don't get very much Cotton Candy taste but instead a super sweet sugary taste up front. It is almost like frosted sugar with a touch of vanilla. I also get some kind of Cakey flavor on the exhale. It's a good cakey flavor though but very light. I can see how this flavor can be interpreted as funnel cake. There is no weird chemical taste or other off putting notes that some other flavor manufacturers have.
I say it's definitely worth the purchase just to have a go at experimenting with it (If you can find it in stock). I can see this being used as a sweetener with a whole range of flavors and can be incorporated into bakery recipes as a sweetener and to give a "slight" cakey exhale; or maybe as a additive/extra for some cereal bases where you want to capture that SWEET feel that a bowl of milk after eating Frosted Flakes would have.
Since FA loves their mystery flavors it is hard to truly express what this is supposed to be and this is just based on my sometimes funky taste buds. It however is truly a good tasting and very possibly a flavor that we will see in a few "Premium" Juices in the future.
Wonder what percent would be a good starting to add it to say a cereal killa clone?
I was thinking the same thing earlier. I would say you could probably do 1-2%. I don't think I would do 3 as it is super sweet at 3%. I am going to experiment around with the cereal killer clone. I may sub out meringue for this at 2% to see how it turns out.
I've tried it at 1% and got an unsweetened cinnamon roll flavor. Like a cinnamon roll with no icing type thing. I have 2% mixture steeping with some other flavors added. I think the flavor has potential but I personally am not impressed with it as a stand alone flavor.
I definately couldn't see it as a stand alone. But I think it has some amazing potential as an additive and used in mixes.
Edit: You have me curious now. I am going to try it at 1%, but at 3% it was really sweet.
I don't go above 2% with Flavour Art. I find their stuff particularly strong. But yes, I definitely agree that it has potential. Every other cinnamon roll/etc flavor I've tried prior was horrid or very lacking. This one could do great things.
