So I have been mixing my own juice for a few months now. Best decision and investment I've made in quite a while.
As the workday begins I know I will be on the road, in the field for the next 8-10 hours so I grab the necessities. Smokm80+ w/ Mutation x v4 clone and roughly 16-20 bottles of my favorite creations. As I gaze at this pile of provisions I wonder... Have I gone overboard yet? I know in not alone in this. I figure I have about this much empty space in my camera bag so if it fits then it goes. (As long as nothing leaks on my equipment) kind of scary to think about from that side of things.
So for those who share my affliction, hobby gone off the rails, love for tinkering, mixing, and living in the clouds. How do you get through the day. It's easy to have the favorite blend and vape all day. But I mix 30ml bottles, so if I only take 1 it only lasts a few days. This seems to give me more variety though the day and I still have something left in that bottle of perfect flavor when I get home. And I get to sample the stash and make notes on what recipes need tweaking for the next mix.
So how do you get through the day?
Keep in mind with the summer sun/heat now upon us that those plastic bottles are going to leach some foul stuff into that juice if you leave them anywhere with sunlight or high heat....a lot of nasty chemicals like Bisphenol A and god knows what else can leach through the cheap plastic.
Bisphenol A is used in the production of polycarbonates and should be marked with the type 7 plastic symbol. Most eLiquid bottles are LDPE (type 4) or PET/PETE (type 1) and BPA is not used in their production.
I find it more worrying that BPA is used to line water pipes and almost all beverage and food cans. A common source of BPA is thermal receipt paper. (It's in the coating that turns dark when heated.)
There could be other things leaching out, but it's not BPA.
A very good point sir. My stash stays protected daily in my dslr bag in my patrol unit with the AC on. No sun/no heat. I figured that bag is the safest place for it, camera, lenses, flash, etc. Is worth thousands so I don't bake it either. This is not practical for everyone so great to point out.
I have a small backpack that I carry with everything to rebuild my atomizer. Different sized wite, pliers, scissors, coul jig, spare batteries, cotton, and the list goes on. Then I'll have a few other flavors. I don't always bring it with me, but sometimes I feel silly having a backpack full of just vaping gear and nothing else.
I do the same thing. I bring about 5 or 6 flavors with me. It's kinda like having flavor A.D.D. I keep all my stuff in my side pocket of my messenger bag inside of the articulated off-road truck I drive. I couldn't imagine being stuck with only 1 flavor for the 15hrs a day that I'm not home lol.
Do you guys get a lot of flavor contamination from juice to juice? Does that effect your view of the flavor until you get it in something on its own? I'm always paranoid of flavor cross contamination distorting my opinion of the juice haha especially when taking notes. How do u guys do it I wanna carry 20 bottles with me too lolol
When taking notes to evaluate a new batch I do use the dripper and cross contamination is not an issue after a few good pulls or the second deck full to be sure. I switch it up all day.
Where did you get that mutation?
I actually picked it up at a local B&M. You can grab one online from everywhere for cheap. I did get a clone but have had no problems with it. The wife was ready for an upgrade so I handed down the delta 2.
