Weekly 'Suggest a Recipe for my Flavors' Thread - Week of June 19, 2015
submitted over 10 years ago by AutoModerator

Got a bunch of flavors but not sure how to make them work together? Post your list here, and our team of semi-professional mixologists will make suggestions for you! If you are impatient and want to do this on your own, here are a couple of good links:

  • /u/daath has a nice website that has this functionality, but you will need to register to make it work. It is not very intuitive but if you work with it you can input your flavors and get a list of recipes that you can make. IMO this is the better site if you have the patience to make it work for you. Edit2: to get this to work, first set up an account. Then add your flavors to the stash (under my page / my flavor stash). hit save. Then go back to the front page and click the link next to the search field, "Search by flavor stash". You can select a couple of your flavors and recipes that have those will pop up.
  • This site has a nice big search button with just what you're looking for.

Happy Mixing!

Whoo! I've been looking forward to this thread for the past couple days. I got my first DIY shipment this week and have been mixing/vaping jank-ass toilet juice since! I absolutely love it.

TFA/TPA

  • Bavarian Cream

  • Blueberry Extra

  • Energy Drink

  • Greek Yogurt

  • Key Lime

  • Marshmallow

  • Orange Cream

  • Rainbow Drops

  • Rainbow Sherbet

  • Raspberry (Sweet)

  • Raspberry

  • Silly Rabbit Cereal

  • Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

CAP

  • Blueberry

  • Energy Drink

  • Italian Lemon Sicily

  • Orange Creamsicle

  • Raspberry V2

  • Super Sweet (Liquid Sucralose)

  • Sweet Cream

  • Sweet Strawberry

The order seems a little random because, well, it is. I ordered some specific flavors for a couple simple recipes, but the majority of the extracts just fit my flavor profile in a loose way and seemed tasty. There are a few different iterations of a couple flavors (raspberry, blueberry, orange cream), but this was mostly to compare and find my favorite. I admit I got a bit impulsive when adding flavors to my shopping cart, but that's just how some of us learn.

I've already started putting some thought into my next order. There are definitely some supporter flavors that I didn't buy this time and wish I had. So, along with any simple recipes I'd really appreciate some experienced advice on "My Second Order" flavors. Thanks a ton, r/DIY_ejJuice. You effectively made the vaping rabbit (pun not intended) hole that much deeper.

What kinda flavours are you looking to expand into? Bakery flavours? Creamy? Fruity? Any particular flavour profiles you know you love?

For example, dragonfruit and strawberry ripe are 2 flavours I strongly recommend for either fruity flavours or creamy flavours. Both are pretty flexible with other flavourings used.

To get an idea of baked goods, get some graham cracker crust (diketone free version is actually pretty decent, graham cracker clear has a slightly deeper bottom end though). That at a couple percent along side something like vanilla cupcake (tfa), yellow cake (fw) or similar cake/baked flavours will give a real nice cake pudding aspect. Adding in strawberry ripe and sweet strawberry (cap) along side a little bit of cream will give you a pretty decent pudding vape.

Bakery/creamy/fruity rolled into 1 juice fits my flavor profile pretty well. Though I do understand getting something good out of that will require increasingly complex recipes. I'm game though.

My current e-juice wish list is topped with a rich, creamy key lime pie or cheesecake. Some form of graham cracker will definitely be in my next order.

I'm also really into blueberry vapes at the moment. I have a really haggard blueberry yogurt steeping in my cabinet right now.

Thanks a lot!

For me at least, the complexity comes from finishing off a flavour. I do a flavour called dragons dream. At the base of it it has coconut, dragonfruit and cream. It can be done with 3 ingredients and give the general flavour just fine and it's perfectly vapable.

Now add a few months of tweaking and adding and it has a handful more fruit flavours and a few new cream flavours each doing their own little thing. They're used typically at <2% so the flavour itself is pretty much lost but changes the main flavour. Sweet raspberry I've noted can help bring deep fruits up a bit while still maintaining that deep fruit flavour for example so adding that into the mix can help get away from a deep overpowering coconut.

So key lime pie. Break it down, what does it have? Key lime, pie. Break pie down, pie crust, sweetness, light pastry flavour.

Components: Key lime, pie crust, graham cracker, sweetener (marshmallow, other sweet fruit, sucrolose, ethol maltol).

Pie crust is a great flavour to give a VERY solid pie crust taste. Very strong and with a fruit mix I'd look at using it at about 0.5%. Graham cracker here can probably be used at about 2-3% to really bring out a good bakery flavour. Marshmallow at 1% or sweet strawberry at 0.5% could bring something to the table. No idea on percentages of key lime as I've never used it.

After getting that base down you're already using 4-6 flavours without much effort. From here little adjustments like maybe adding a creamy note to it, maybe a few drops of lemon (cap) helps the lime come through. What I do is get a shot glass and drop a single drop of each flavour and smell it to see how it all compares. So for this, maybe drop 4-6 drops of key lime, 1 drop pie crust, 2-4 drops graham then 1-2 drops of a few other things. Give it a smell along each step of the way and note down what you think it needs more or less of. After a few tries you'll figure out how the flavours interact and general ratios of how to not let 1 part become too overpowering (so like 6:3:1 lime:graham:pie).

Sorry for the wall of text, hopefully you found some of that helpful =P

Well..don't have a bunch of flavors...but here it goes.

All flavors are TFA/TPA

  • Strawberry

  • DX Bavarian Cream

  • Watermelon

  • Coconut Extra

  • Mango

I purchased these to make a Tiger's Blood recipe and it's awesome, but want to see if there's anything else I can do. I have gone thru and made random recipes using what I have, which should be finished steeping tomorrow. Any known good recipes with these flavors besides Tiger's Blood

I would try mango at 7%, bav. Cream at 5%. Also try swapping the mango with strawberry. Then order more flavors lol.

Haha. Yeah, I think I've done both of those combos. Maybe not at those percentages, but similar. I knew it was a long shot with so few flavors to get a bunch of ideas.

What flavors would you personally recommend? I know nothing about the name brand e-liquids and what flavors they have. I've always gone to shops and got their mixed flavors.

What percentages of Strawberry, Watermelon, and Coconut Extra are you using for the Tiger's Blood?

2 points

by BrokeCollegeGraduateover 10 years ago

Strawberry - 12%

Watermelon - 6%

Coconut Extra - 1.5%

Try replacing some of the strawberry and watermelon with mango. How much depends on your tastes, but something like 9% mango, 6% strawberry, 3% watermelon, 1.5% coconut wouldn't be bad place to start.

I've been waiting for this thread. I need help creating a banana custard / foster / cream flavor. This is a relatively new flavor profile for me, so I may not have the key flavors to make it work, but maybe someone can help me out with what I do have.

TPA Bavarian Cream, Cheesecake Graham Crust, Juicy Peach, Pear, Ripe Banana, Ripe Strawberry, Vanilla (Bourbon), Vanilla Swirl

FA Caramel, Fresh Cream, Fuji, Irish Cream, Vienna Cream

FW Yellow Cake

Not too experienced with ripe banana. Raise or drop accordingly.

I'll try this out. I did something similar to this but with the ripe banana at 5 I think which was way too overpowering. It has more of a candy banana taste than I would like. I'm going to look into getting TPA banana cream.

I've been working on something creamy/custardy with blueberry, but I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. what I've got so far:

  • TPA - Bavarian Cream 3
  • TPA - Graham Crust Cheesecake 4
  • TPA - Wild Blueberry 6
  • TPA - Sweet Cream 3
  • TPA - Vanilla Custard 2

This definitely has blueberry, but everything else seems to be missing other than a general savory-sweet flavor Maybe it needs to steep:

What I have available:

  • Banana (TPA)
  • Bavarian Cream (TPA)
  • Black Cherry (TPA)
  • blueberry (extra) (tfa)
  • Blueberry (Wild) (TPA)
  • Butterscotch (TPA)
  • Capella's Vanilla Custard v2
  • Caramel (Cap)
  • Chai Tea (Cap)
  • Cheesecake (Graham Crust) (TPA)
  • Cherry Cola (Cap)
  • Crispy Bacon (Cap)
  • DX Banana Cream (TPA)
  • Eucalyptus (menthol) (TPA)
  • French Vanilla (TPA)
  • Glazed Doughnut (Cap)
  • Hazelnut (Cap)
  • Honey 10% (TPA)
  • Juicy Orange (Cap)
  • Peanut Butter (Cap)
  • Peanut Butter (TPA)
  • Red Velvet Cake (TPA)
  • Strawberries and Cream (Cap)
  • Sweet Cream (Cap)
  • Sweet Cream (TPA)
  • Sweet Tea (Cap)
  • Vanilla Custard (Cap)
  • Vanilla Custard (TPA)
  • Watermelon

I've been playing with doughnut and bacon, but I haven't figured out the percentages to make anything close to the bacon topped eclair I randomly encountered last weekend.
