Hi
I just wanted to gauge the general feeling for a possible group buy for some custom made acrylic cabinets/wallmount racks so people who have "a metric buttload" of flavours don't have to rummage through piles and piles of juice bottles.
I have purchased a nail polish display rack which holds about 100 or so juice bottles, but the 50ml and above sizes simply won't fit. It's good, but not good enough.
Some things I was contemplating:
- Folding style so you could have 3 racks in one kind of thing (Z-Fold?)
- Taller and deeper than average sized shelves to fit 50ml bottles.
- Separated "bulk bottle" sections for those few big bottles we all buy.
What do you guys think? Is this worth looking further into, or am I the only one on the planet who hates not being able to find my flavours quickly? ;)
*** Edit *** I'm yet to come up with a design, this thread is purely to gauge the potential. I could knock something up in 3D at some point, or even a rough hand drawn sketch, but even if the design is awesome and everyone loves it, there's still the issue of manufacturing, materials, and the logistics of international group buys - any tips in the logistics area would be much appreciated! I'm guessing manufacture would be done out of China.
I decided to make my own. Just under a tenner in materials, iirc. It's portable too!
I like it! I went a different route for my flavorings. Similarly, about 10 bucks in materials. http://imgur.com/O1OmPBl
That is a bloody good thing you've made mate. Very much what I was thinking about. Is that a mixing table I see on a hinge? I love the idea of a carry handle... for those times when you hit the road and need to mix. :D
Cheers :) Originally it was going to be a mixing shelf, but found i didn't really need one so it turned into a sort of drop down cupboard type thing. And yes, it rarely gets moved from out of my room but when it does the handle makes it a whole lot easier than without :)
To get the bits i just went down to the local timber yard, grabbed a bit of baton (cheapest i could find) and a sheet of ply. Some glue, pin nails and a 10mm nut and bolt to lock it, and Robert's your mum's live in lover :)
I use organization drawers from Hobby Lobby for my smaller bottles (4-30ml), and larger drawers (basically plus size) for my 4-32oz bottles. Cheap, plastic, pullout trays. I have metal storage racks for my 1-5gallon stuff. Works nicely. Still run out of space :)
But in actual reply to the post. I'd be curious to what you would find that would require a group buy or at least make a group buy worth the time. I'll check back later.
It may just be something you should end up buying yourself.
Can we get a link for both of those?
This is the smaller one that I have, the bigger one I can't find on their website.

The metal rack is just a basic storage rack, had it for years. No idea where I got it but my guess is home depot.
I bought this one recently from Amazon for $40. It won't fit bottles more than 1.46" wide and anything taller than 3.75" has to go on the top shelf. But I mostly deal in 30mm bottles and below so it's working out good for me so far.
