This is probably a useless post but I am just completely blown away at how awesome this is! I made my first bottle by weight in like 1 minute maybe 2. It used to take me so long with syringes and I was stubborn and didn't want to switch because I liked the volume or old school mix feel...not sure if old school is right but whatever. Anyway, for those of you considering staying with syringes, it really is a night and day difference and completely changes how you mix. I spilled nothing, wiped up nothing, and have a couple pipettes to either rinse or throw away.
Anyone else feel this much love when switching to weight?
The thing I like about DIY is that I can be as accurate or lazy as I like, and I like to be lazy. I don't go by weight, I tend to use 3ml pipettes that are only graduated by .5 ml. I mix fast and I mix sloppy, but my flavors still come out the same if the ratios are off by a drop or 2. Not going to buy a scale because scales cost money and I started this so I could spend less money.
I'm really considering it, do I really have to find the exact weight of each of my flavors or is there a magic number?
this is my question too.
You can do either, I am inputting their actual weights but you can honestly just use 1 for the weight. As long as you are consistent your mixes will be the same every time. If you decide to use their actual weight people have already compiled lists for all the normal flavor companies.
Just sign-up and use this website which does it for you.
Nm I got it, basically 1g per ml for flavors and 100mg nic right?
Go to the search bar and type in mixing by weight and click on botboy141's guide to mixing by weight. Follow that. It has PG, VG, Nic weights and everything you need to do it. Most flavors weigh out around 1g so a lot of people just use 1 as the default weight for flavors. You can do that or you can input their actual weights and people have compiled lists of these for most of the popular flavor companies. I know I have seen TFA, CAP, FA, FLV
I'm mixing more than ever since switching to weight. Using syringes just felt like the right way to do it, and I also clung to them for way too long. Now I can make a mix in a few minutes with almost no clean up.
Going from syringes to mixing by weight was like going from cigarettes to vaping.
This stuff is way too complicated for me , i just add drops of flavoring into my nicotine mix until it ends up tasting just like i like it lol.
I have never followed anyones recipes , i just decide what sounds good together and keep track of how many drops of flavoring i add.
I wish i could do it like most others but i just don't get it , the easiest stuff is impossible for me to figure out but extremely complicated stuff comes easy .
It is actually really easy once you sit down and work it out. It may be better for you if you know someone who diy's and can sit down and show you right in front of you. I learn best by "doing" and I agree at first it can seem really overwhelming but once you get more into it, it is really easy.
I, literally, just last night mixed by weight for the first time. It took so much less time and was a lot less mess. It may be me, but it was a lot more math (I didn't use ejuice me up for the entire thing), but still radical to the max.
