I'm wondering if anybody has some recipes that use actual ingredients rather than pre-mixed flavours. I have a ton of extracts available to use but I don't know a) what concentrations to use b) what combinations work well and c) if they're safe to vape.

I have found instructions for using Ethyl Maltol, which I have plenty of. But pretty much all recipes I see use chemicals that are pre-diluted in VG and/or PG. So if I want to make a clove flavour, how much eugenol or clove oil do I use?

I see a lot of misinformation out there regarding extracts/oils because people assume that anything with "oil" in the name has been diluted with oil. They say the best way to make a flavor is by physically extracting it from the material. But if you extract "flavour" from cloves, you're simply getting clove oil!

So, does anybody have experience doing this? Is there a list of "safe" extracts to use, and possibly some recipes? Any help is appreciated.

Most extracts/concentrates are individual aroma volatiles in a percentage of 0.001% to as high as 20%. You'll want to snag a copy of some flavorist books ($500+ each or bootleg) and see what the PPM recommendation is for FLAVOR, not aroma.

Once in a concentrate (PG based, typically), you'll use it at a percentage like any concentrate (1%-20% of final liquid).

It's a huge journey because some aroma volatiles are VERY particular about how many PPM you use in a final mix or the flavor is blown out or tastes wrong. Jasmine's primary aroma volatile can end up tasting like fecal odor if used too much.

I saw that, but it mentions doing the actual extraction rather than using pre-extraced concentrate. For instance I have eugenol and juniper berry oil, etc, but I don't know how much of them to use. I'm not actually doing the extraction. Plus things like raspberry ketones, linalool, etc.

true. I know the common EM and menthol mixes are 10% powder mixed in PG. I am not sure on the mixing of pg or vg and a extracted oil and really what I mean is I dont know what it would take to get it mixed.

Yeah the ethyl maltol i saw was a 10% mix. Maybe that's a standard. So instead of using 10% flavour with PG/VG, I might want to cut it all the way down to 1%. Thanks.
