There's this one juice that I just loved, and I've been working on trying to clone it for the better part of two months. All the while it seems to be missing that one ingredient. I asked my wife to smell my clone and the original and see if she could tell what was missing between the two.
Grape.
Not that I hate grape, but now it's all I can taste in the original. All the blueberries and creams are gone. And it's just grape. I don't even want to finish my clone of it.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Almost all my ADVs are ruined for me since I started buying and playing with the individual aroma volatiles themselves.
In fact, some of my favorite junk foods are also ruined as the flavor components are starting to pop out at me. It's really annoying.
On the flip side, I've come to really appreciate some of the more complex retail flavors that I just can't pick apart. I really like knowing someone either spent a LOT of hours blending a lot of disparate flavors, or had a serendipitous discovery.
new to DIYing, what exactly do you mean by individual aroma volatiles?
Also referred to as aroma molecules, they are the actual chemicals that impart the flavor and aroma we experience in our flavorings. How we say flavoring is PG based, because it is a mix off these aroma molecules in solution with PG. If you want to learn more about the chemistry side of DIY, there is a post with all sorts of resources on /r/Deeper_DIY
Looper... not ruined but not as astonished by it.
My girlfriend had this juice that she loved for a while. I vaped it and instantly said it tasted like grape cough medicine and now that's all she can taste. Also Root Beer tastes like Colgate toothpaste.
Funny, I've always thought Colgate tastes like root beer
MBV Faux Hawk was absolutely one of my favorite flavours, hands down ADV, i ended up buying enough concentrate to make about 250ml of the stuff, then i read somewhere about it having a licorice flavor to it (which i hate, aniseed and licorice make me vomit thanks to a nice childhood memory) and now that licorice-y aniseed-y hint is all i can bloody taste. none of the fruitiness and freshness. it isn't COMPLETELY ruined and now and then after i have vaped creams for a while it comes back and pops, but every now and then it jumps out at me and makes me sad.
Haven't really "ruined" a flavor yet, but I used to be SUPER addicted to Innevape's Heisenberg. I'd vape a whole bottle in less than 2 days.
I haven't even started my DIY projects yet, but over the course of the last couple weeks and mixing random flavors I had together to eliminate bottles, Heisenberg just doesn't have the same appeal anymore.
I guess that's what happens when the local store runs out, I'm broke and bored. lol
My friend had this one juice a while back (I forgot the name) that tasted like a fruity gum of sorts. One day one of his other friends tried it and he said it tasted like broccoli beef. When I was told the same, the gum flavor was gone, and all I could taste was broccoli beef.
