I have a recipe Id like to try but I don't have the exact flavors. Its a fruit flavor with a cream note and I have the fruits but short on the cream.
It calls for TFA Bavarian cream 2%, TFA sweet cream 1%, TFA vanilla swirl 3%
I have Bavarian cream, TFA vanilla custard, TFA French vanilla
Im not worried about it tasting the same as much as the flavor curve being correct. I was considering replacing The sweet cream and vanilla swirl with vanilla custard but Im not sure of the percentage to use, I don't want to over/under power it.
Any tips from the vets?
All the creams you have can tend to over power weaker fruits at higher percentages. What fruit are you using? I'd probably just go Bavarian Cream @ 2% and French Vanilla @ 1.5% or Bavarian Cream & Vanilla Custard @ 2%. Another alternative would be to just increase your Bavarian Cream up to 4-6% which is one of my favorite creams mixed with fruit
Thanks, the original recipe I found in this sub called 'dragons blood' with 10% dragonfruit and 4% strawberry. Im not using the 1% EM since Im trying to keep my coils clean (I'm assuming added sweeteners cause buildup).
i would like to keep a slight vanilla background in the original recipe so I think Ill make a batch with the 2% Bavarian cream and 2% vanilla custard if you still think it will complement the fruits.
Alright so I've actually made a few iterations of Dragon's Blood in my day. My favorite was something like (all TFA):
- 10% Dragonfruit
- 2% Strawberry
- 6% Bavarian Cream
Sweet Cream and Vanilla Swirl are unnecessary. The Strawberry is probably unnecessary as well
consider TFA vanilla bean ice cream. i just made my first mix with it and its very nice
Ive read good things...
its really a very rich and tasty flavor. it very accurately captures that round and soft vanilla bean thing without overpowering fruits. i did 6% TFA strawberry with 8% vanilla bean ice cream on a whim just to take it for a test drive and it was actually pretty good.
