This is the moment I was working towards when I plopped down the ol' Visa info and ordered up more flavorings than I'll ever use - most of which I don't even like to vape on the regular.
This is that moment where I worked towards, testing this combo and trying out that, steeping one and fresh-vaping another.
Got myself a nice rotation of five or six concoctions that just satisfy me, and I only have to break out the tote of pomegranate - mint - apple? ~~stained~~ smelling paraphernalia to mix up batches once every couple of weeks or so. When my "work" is done, I play with a little something here and there, maybe.
But with the set up I got going, I'm vaping on the cheap and I seriously couldn't be happier. It's been a good couple months since I picked up any kind of premade juice. That moment when you realize that you don't need to make juice orders or suffer through whatever bullshit the local gas station has on hand because shipping's been delayed by a day or two - that moment is here, and I simply couldn't be happier.
All thanks to you guys, no doubt about it. From holding my hand on my first order to kicking me in the ass when I wanted to go lazy, ya'll helped me get here. Best sub, best community ever.
Go have a great day, someone out there appreciates the feedback, guidance and silliness that goes on in here.
Congratulations and remember to pay it forward. We can always use more experienced contributors around here!
I wouldn't mind seeing some of the recipes! ;)
But congrats, I'm getting there too. My taste buds are too spoiled though... bastards always wanting something different.
I posted one a while ago, and will probably be sharing the rest in the near future. I'm not around my notepad right now, otherwise I'd just bust em out here.
I just decided after spending $32 for 60ml that the time had finally come to figure out how to make my own and this was the first post thing I read.
Thanks for the motivation! Any tips on where to go to get started learning?

May I interest you in anything from our world class sidebar? There's a fine Wiki circa the mid 2010's that pairs excellently with the beginner's guide that is sure to please. We also have a delightful guide on first-order flavoring preferences if you'd like to perhaps browse for that certain, ehm, inspiration.
I'm not being a dick, I'm just having a little fun. The choice you've made to start mixing your own is great! Honestly, the meat-n-potatoes of it is simple: you're gonna wanna get your flavorings, some straight VG, a bottle of straight PG, and some nic solution. Using one of the handy-dandy ejuice calculators that are everywhere now (I use the "e-juice lab" app for android for my stuff), you're going to simply mix the ingredients together and shake. Steep, but you're going to probably vape it right away (which is totes coo, just ask me).
Anyone can look at a canvas and a tray of paints and go "yeah, you just put blue there and red there and kinda swirl it, bam, masterpiece,"... it's about what you put, where, how much and with what kind of ... style (?) you use. It's a practice, and you'll get way better the more you mix. Once you get the gist of it, it's really very easy. And rewarding, too! Vapin' on some tobacco-y coconut mix right now and mmm, I dig it.
Instead of painting, maybe look at it like cooking. Cooking is a much better analogy. You like to cook? I love to cook. Little spice here, a little salt there, and you've got some bangin' macaroni and cheese. But dumping salt into it all willy nilly isn't going to be very good. Subtleties are where it's at - take this tobacco-y coconut thing I've got going on. The coconut adds a "low" note of flavor that makes it kinda sweet, kinda nutty, but not "sugar" sweet or "peanut" nutty. It's not a coconut vape, it's a flavor that uses coconut to smooth out higher notes from the tobacco.
Ahh here I go, rambling and making little sense again. Can't blame me, it's my lunch break and I'll spend it how I please.
Get on out there and start buying some stuff and get your fingers slimy. Only way to learn how to ride a bike, after all, is to get on the bike. wink
Best of luck to you, go on and read that sidebar and engage in the community - like I said in my OP, this community is pretty great.
I wish abdada would come baaaaack....
Thanks for the tips.
I have been reading the sidebar and whatnot, lots of great info there. :) I was more asking just to see if anybody had other good info, which you provided, for example, I am looking forward to trying that app, thanks!
I like your cooking analogy, I am huge into cooking. :) I like to make everything I can from base ingredients so I know exactly whats in it and can tweak recipes as I go, the similarities are what attracted me to this.
I had the coolest job in the world probably for a while, I got paid to drink free beer (Worked for a company developing clone recipes for home brewing.) so I thought it might be fun to try and see if I could do it for my Vape supply also. Well, except for the getting paid part.
Thanks again for taking the time to respond in such a friendly fashion. :)
Right there with you. I actually am just at the point now where I don't even bother mixing up reipes - I just vape the nic base. Doesn't get any cheaper than that :)
Right on, that's some hardcore money savin' vapin' right there.
Same you feel like a fool once you finally commit to DIY and no longer have to pay out the ass for 30mls at a time along with all the drama of waiting for usps.
I can't believe I was so hesitant about jumping in. Hemmed and hawed with the best of them. I love it, hope I never have to go back to buying store-bought juices again.
Friend, I'm only 2 days in on DIY and I am already a happy camper. $55 on a starter kit, an afternoon on here and elsewhere, and I've already made a week's worth of really good, simple juice very close to TBD's Cap'n Custard, and proved to myself that I actually have zero nicotine dependency so I'm completely skipping that component. Apparently, along with the extra bottle of VG I picked up a few days ago to stretch out the last of my pre-made juice while waiting on USPS to deliver my kit, I can make damn near a half gallon of this stuff.
Next payday if I spend what I would normally on pre-made juices, on flavorings, I'll seemingly be set for a few months. We're talking $125-200/mo saved - damn near a car payment. Yeah, I'm on board permanently now.
