Specifically Vanilla Custard V1 by Capella
So far I'll be grabbing the following:
- TFA Bavarian Cream
- TFA Dulce De Leche
- TFA French Vanilla Deluxe
Would you kind people please suggest some other flavourings or additives that would go well with a vanilla custard
PS: Pls no side bar/search function nazis, I beg you
Marshmallow, toasted marshmallow, catalan cream from FA is great and adds a interesting spice note that I love. Buttersctoch & hazelnut from FW are both great in custards as well. I prefer capellas french vanilla over tfa's, its much more buttery and complex, I cant think of any custard recipes I have that dont use it. Im also a big fan of bavarian cream from FW over tfa. Small amounts of new york cheesecake can make a custard recipe really rich. Just some of my suggestions :)
This right here, except I have no experience with flavor west's Bavarian cream. Perhaps you could elaborate? Also, maybe it's just me but dulce de leche ruins everything it touches. I've never had grants vanilla custard, but the clone variations with just Cap custard v1 and dulce de leche have all turned out awful to me. I mixed it up about a month ago, and all I taste is dulce de leche. On a side note, a local B&M has a recipe made with TFA ingredients, Banana cream, banana but bread, and vanilla custard that I really enjoy. I've tried to recreate it but I can't get the banana flavor as pronounced without tasting too much bnb or vc. I've tried it with FW Banana nut bread but it's too overpowering. Maybe it's due to the fact that I have the DX banana cream..
TFA: Bavarian Cream, Sweet Cream, Cotton Candy, Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, Cheesecake Graham Cracker Crust, Graham Cracker (Clear), Vanillin, Vanilla Swirl, Marshmallow, Toasted Marshmallow, Acetyl Pyrazine
Capellas: French Vanilla (v1), New York Cheesecake, Graham Cracker, Marshmallow, Peanut Butter
Flavorwest: Yellow Cake, Butterscotch
Hangsen: RY4
If I had to pick 3 I'd grab: Capellas French Vanilla, and TFA Graham Cracker (clear) or Cheesecake Graham Cracker Crust, TFA Mrashmallow or Toasted Marshmallow. Capellas V1 is my primary flavor, and I pretty much never get tired of the endless variations I can come up with
With Capella Custard I like TFA Whipped Cream, a bit of TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and all the ones mentioned in the OP. And if for some reason you've never heard of the famous GVC Clone:
- 14% Cap vanilla custard
- 2% TPA dulche de leche
- 1-2 drops EM per ten ml.
I was so hopeful for this, was my very first DIY mix. Well, if Grant's is close to this, there is a huge difference between tastes here and across the pond. I gave it a full month but couldn't handle it, too strong. That first bottle passed from me to 2 others, finally got dumped.
This one here suits me for a custard (can't really taste the strawberry but faintly)
Capella VC v2 7%
Capella Vanilla Cupcake 3%
Capella Sweet Strawberry 10%
I like TFA vanilla custard so much better than Cap! It is more vanillay
