Struggling to get anything ADV worthy
submitted over 10 years ago by sacredshapes

Hi everyone, firstly I've been browsing this sub pretty much constantly since I started mixing a few months ago and its helped a tonne with a few tips and tricks plus links to resources etc, so thank you.

I've had a few mildly successful mixes but I feel like I haven't quite hit the spot in terms of a great, consistent ADV. I was hoping for some advice if I gave a few examples of recipes I've tried.

Firstly, here is my current arsenal;

Name|Brand| :--|:--| Bavarian Cream|TPA| Cheesecake (Graham Crust)|TPA| Double Chocolate (Clear)|TPA| Dragonfruit|TPA| Juicy Peach|TPA| Marshmallow|TPA| Peanut Butter|TPA| Ripe Banana|TPA| RY4 Double|TPA| Sweet Cream|TPA| Sweetener|TPA| Watermelon|TPA| Bubblegum Juicy|TPA| Cappuccino|TPA| Caramel|TPA| Cinnamon|TPA| Coconut|TPA| Coffee|TPA| Fruit Circles with Milk|TPA| Irish Cream|TPA| Menthol|FW| Vanilla custard|TPA| Acetyl Pyrazine|Everything Liquid| Mint Chocolate|LorAnn| Banana Cream|LorAnn|

And here's a couple of examples of some recipes I've tried

Ingredient|Brand|%| :--|:--|--:| Fruit Circles With Milk|TPA|4| Marshmallow|TPA|2.5| Strawberry|TPA|2| Sweet Cream|TPA|2| Flavour total|10.50%| PG/VG|25/75| Strength|6mg|

Ingredient|Brand|%| :--|:--|--:| Dragonfruit|TPA|1| Strawberry|TPA|6| Watermelon|TPA|3.5| Flavour total|10.50%| PG/VG|20/80| Strength|6mg|

Ingredient|Brand|%| :--|:--|--:| Bavarian Cream|TPA|3| Dragonfruit|TPA|1| Peanut Butter|TPA|1| RY4 Double|TPA|4| Sweet Cream|TPA|2.5| Flavour total|11.50%| PG/VG|20/80| Strength|6mg|

Sorry for the rather vertical post, I wanted to format it properly so it was easy to read. Do you think it could be low flavour totals? Or just bad selections of flavours in general? Any general advice and maybe even suggestion recipes would be excellent.

How long are you actually aging ("steeping") for before vaping?

Generally I taste it a couple of times a week (I stick it in a crock pot on low heat for about 2 hours after mixing, either that or a hot bath, then it goes into a drawer and I shake the bottles a couple times a day) but on average I'd say a week/week and a half.

Why don't you try making your mixes without adding heat to them and see if that helps. Shake the crap out of them though. If you do end up adding heat, add your nicotine afterwards to avoid degradation.

I agree, heat has really degraded some of my favorite mixes flavorwise. Now I just make sure they are mixed very well and aged a week or two.

I can't stick to any flavor for very long at all. Usually after one tank on my atlantis v2 and I notice I can't really taste it anymore. I have to swap to a completely different flavor profile. I've tried drinking lots of water, brushing my teeth, sniffing things like coffee, to no prevail. It's the evil vapors tounge. I often leave a flavor for a couple days, and when I come to it I get that WOW factor once more, but it quickly goes away to just good, and by the 3rd tank I'm like bleh. I haven't found any flavors stick for longer than that.

So yea, lots of different flavor profiles. Swap between them.

Not as much lately, but I used to use mouthwash like crazy.

You post a recipe with strawberry but don't list it in the arsenal. Anyway, have you been trying each flavor by itself? I find people know what they like, and they know what they want to taste more, but they equate that to percentages. I tried a clone of jizmoglobin posted on here, and thought I'd like a HINT of blackberry. I mixed it up as per the recipe, and it smelled damn close. I then added one tiny drop of blackberry from the 13ml bottle it came in (orange cap) and now I have a single note blackberry juice. Not bad though... Just not at all what I wanted. Some of your flavors take a long time to really develop, like ripe banana and ry4 double. But some taste great right away. Try 8% strawberry ripe, 5% cheesecake graham, 1 % vanilla custard and 2% Bavarian cream. Add marshmallow or sweetener to taste.

Apologies for jumping in here but I'm another DIY guy from the UK with exactly the same issues as the OP. I have read over this thread and realised I was doing exactly the same thing. I have made your suggestion and a Fizmustard Strawberry and Cream without heating now and just waiting for a few days before I vape. :) Fingers crossed and thanks for this suggestion, it smells great.

That recipe will be mostly strawberry as a shake and vape, then cheesecake with a nice strawberry undertone after 4 or more days. Let me know what you think!

Hey there! Well I tried it today at about 2 and a half days and its very chemically so I've taken the lid off for the rest of the day to see if that will fade. Currently not great but I've often found taking off the lid changes things a lot for me so I'll try again in a few days. Also think vapers tongue has got me today so probably a factor too. Fingers crossed.

Try this: http://e-liquid-recipes.com/recipe/49573/Bombies+%2527nana+cream

...I noticed you mentioned Strawberry in your recipe but not in your flavors. You could whip this up minute the Citric Acid (I don't use it in my mix). This is easily a fantastic vape, compliments of /u/fizzmustard ...it's ADV-quality, depending on your tastes, and you seem to have the ingredients.

What exactly are you missing from your vapes?

They just don't taste consistently good. I'll be pleasantly surprised with something for a day or two but then it just seems to fall flat and seem bland and not have that 'pop' that premixed finished juices seem to have. It's hard to explain.

May I ask where you get your pg,vg and nic?

by sacredshapesover 10 years ago

Sure. I'm in the UK so I get my nic from Everything Liquid, they're generally recommended around this sub. My PG and VG are from Chef's Vapour. Both seem to be pretty reputable.

7% strawberry

5% bav cream

2% banana cream? I use tfa I'm not sure how much LA to use

5% cheesecake graham crust

Max VG ofc

Or you could almost make the very popular MM clone with a twist

7% vanilla custard

2% sweet cream

5% strawberry

.5% dragonfruit

.2% juicy peach

.2% something? fruit circles? or caramel

2% banana cream, or banana ripe, or peanut butter? (to sub vanilla swirl in this recipe)

Haven't tried the second one, as it's not the normal recipe, but the original is pretty great. Also I have tried the top one and it's pretty legit (tho I use NY cheesecake + graham) and a bit of smooth to bring all the creams together.
