Flavor of the Week: Peanut Butter
submitted over 10 years ago by Botboy141Gunner's Gold Gourmet E-Juice

The purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a flavor and it's many uses.

####We're not just looking for you to post recipes you have containing the flavor of the week, but looking for you to share your process as you develop a new juice using the flavor of the week.

This should help us all to better understand how certain flavors interact, and give us all a launching point to perhaps discovering new wonderful recipes.

###Please post new recipes created using this flavor as well as any and all tasting notes as main posts. Thought process is encouraged also.

This thread will NOT be in contest mode so the best flavors and reviews of those should move their way towards the top.

While I definitely encourage you to branch out with this flavor and use some more rare flavors, I would encourage everyone to keep it in mind that others will not be able to try your recipe and comment or offer assistance if they do not have the flavors you are using. I would also encourage you to use this week's flavor as the "main" flavor in your recipe although this is not required.

You BETTER sample and offer tasting notes on your recipe.

Good luck to everyone!

##This Week's Flavor is: Peanut Butter

Unlike in the previous monthly contest thread, I am NOT limiting this to any specific flavor from any specific vendor. After all, our goal here is to come up with perhaps some unique uses of the weekly flavor or combinations others may not have thought of before. This should allow for maximum participation as well!

VAPE SAFE

PEANUTS AND PEANUT BUTTER

Taste: sweet, astringent | Function: heating

Weight: medium–heavy | Volume: moderate–loud

Strongest | Stronger | Strong | Strong | Strong ---|---|----|----|---- Bananas | Deserts | apples | grape jelly | raisins Chocolate | Sugar | butter | honey | raspberries | | caramel| lemon, juice | Rice Krispies | | coconut | lime, juice | strawberries | | coffee| pears | vanilla

Day 1

I'm going to try some sort of a mix between a Peanut Butter Cheesecake and a Peanut Butter Custard Blast. TFA's Peanut Butter isn't exceptionally creamy or anything so I believe either Vanilla Custard or Whipped Cream will help out here. The base I'm going to use off the top of my head will be

Ingredient|% :---|---:| Cheesecake (Graham Crust) (TPA)|5 Peanut Butter (TPA)|6 Tiramisu (FA)|1 Vanilla Custard v1 (CAP)|4

I'll make three 10ml batches, one with CAP VC and the other with TFA VC just in case CAPs is too buttery or overpowering. The third batch will have 2% VC (Cap) and 2% Whipped Cream (TFA). The only concerns I have right now is that the Cheesecake % might be too high (haven't use this favor too much). I think Rice Crunchies (TFA) could be interesting to mix here instead of VC

Now, I'll taste these after a few days to make sure they aren't rancid. Assuming things go according to plan, I'll add some strawberry to top it off -- probably ~ 2-4% Strawberry (TFA). I'm picking that particular strawberry because I don't think Ripe will hold up and Cap Sweet Strawberry isn't as good imo. Flavorah's Strawberry might even be a good pick over TFA's so I'll have to look into that as well.

Day 2

I had a change of heart and decided that Strawberry (Ripe) was going to be the strawberry I would use for the first two batches. I did this because I started thinking that the other jammy/candy strawberries may try to dominate the mixes. Overall I'm so far very happy with the results

Drop Zone 1 | Drop Zone 2 | Drop Zone 3 | Drop Zone 4 ---|---|----|---- 5% Cheesecake (Graham Crust) (TPA) | 5% Cheesecake (Graham Crust) (TPA) | 1% Apple Pie (FA) | 4% Apple Pie (FA) 6% Peanut Butter (TPA) | 6% Peanut Butter (TPA) | 2% Caramel Candy (TPA) | 2.5% Caramel Candy (TPA) 4% Strawberry (Ripe) (TPA) | 7% Strawberry (Ripe) (TPA) | 2% Fuji Apple (FA) | 6% Peanut Butter (TPA) 1% Tiramisu (FA) | 2% Vanilla Custard v1 (CAP) | 6% Peanut Butter (TPA) | 2% Whipped Cream (TPA)
4% Vanilla Custard v1 (CAP) | | 2% Whipped Cream (TPA) | Failure | Sucess | Failure | Failure

Zone 1: Well the only thing I can taste is Tiramisu's very distinct flavor. I probably should have started at 0.5%, but even then I'm thinking that this isn't the profile that I'm after. I tried this as a shake 'n' vape and decided that I would change up Zone 2 a little bit and exclude Tiramisu altogether. In this mix, I can't taste strawberry at all so I increased it for the next zone. 5/10

Zone 2: This mix came up pretty amazing. Every time I vape it, I taste something different -- sometimes strawberry, other times peanut butter, or cheesecake. Often times I even taste all of them at once. This one is definitely a winner so far so I'll probably focus more on this particular mix. I'm actually going to make a 30ml bottle now because I've already gone through quite a bit of my testing batch. 9/10

Zone 3: Honestly, I have no idea why I picked Fuji Apple over any other apple available. All I can really taste in this one is Fuji Apples overpowering flavor with a hint of some sort of coffee flavor (probably from caramel candy/peanut butter). I'll have to make another batch using a softer apple flavor so I can get the peanut butter notes. I'm going to switch to regular caramel and perhaps butterscotch as well. I'm not going to give up on this profile just yet. 4/10 due to Fuji Apple still being a good flavor

Zone 4: Nothing interesting all happening here at all. This is pretty much a cacophony of different flavors that don't apparently work well together. None of the flavors seems to want to take the lead, and none of them want to play on each other either. 3/10

Day 2 Conclusion: I'm going to take Zone 2 and see if I can flesh it out some more, although right now I really enjoy it just the way it is. Possible ingredients I'll use are coconut, banana, brown sugar, and/or caramel. If I had TFA Rice Crunchies, I'd explore that option too. I'll also make the same exact batch using a different strawberry, just to see how it compares to Ripe.

For me, Peanut Butter (TFA) is a much better ingredient than what I normally would use something like Sweet Cream for. It adds a light-nutty-cream taste instead of whatever the hell sweet cream adds which is a huge plus for me. It isn't an in-your-face type flavor and seems to mix well with others, especially in deserts.

Thanks, I'll update this ~~today/tomorrow~~ eventually at some point hopefully!

Edit: I've had 60ml of Zone 2 aging for a week and a half so far (as of 6/21). 30ml is exactly Zone 2, and the other 30ml is Zone 2 w/o strawberry. I'll be mixing these in 5ml bottles with a couple of different ideas and different strawberries to see what works well and will do a follow up

Alright, so I've been kinda lazy lately and this thread is as much for me as it is for everyone else to help hold myself accountable to perfecting this flavor.

I'm working on a new flavor titled: The King is Back

This is going to be a nice little Elvis loving juice of Banana, Peanut Butter, and instead of throwing that on a sandwich, I'm going to mush it down between some graham crackers, with some vanilla custard thrown in as well cause everyone loves a little vanilla custard.

I want this vape to be so fucking creamy and juicy, and mouth full of goodness, that no one can set it down. Here's how we are going to start:

Version 1:
5% CAP Vanilla Custard V1
5% LA Banana Cream (Colorless)
2% TFA Peanut Butter
2% CAP Peanut Butter
3% TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust
1% TFA Graham Cracker Clear
0.25% TFA Cotton Candy (10% EM)
0.25% TFA Smooth
0.25% Citric Acid (10%)
1.25% CAP Sugar Cookie

Version 2:
3% CAP Vanilla Custard V1
5% LA Banana Cream (Colorless)
2% TFA Peanut Butter
2% CAP Peanut Butter
3% TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust
1% TFA Graham Cracker Clear
0.25% TFA Cotton Candy (10% EM)
0.25% TFA Smooth
0.25% Citric Acid (10%)
1.25% TFA Marshmallow
2% TFA Bavarian Cream

I haven't tried either of these yet, but in a week once they've steeped I'm sure I'll be gobbling it down.

At popular request (/u/kirkt's request) we'll be extending Peanut Butter for an extra week.

Edit: Starting percentages are based on a dozen earlier variations of this same flavor profile that I just stopped working on over time...

Hi, I have have a few of those flavors so i decided to throw together a bastard version of your version 2. I just started mixing a couple days ago, and made about 10 different juices. They are hit or miss but this one, even though I'm vaping it fresh and not steeped, this is the best one yet. Here's the recipe

3% vanilla swirl TFA 3% vanilla custard TFA 4% peanut butter TFA 3% cheesecake graham crust TFA 1% Graham clear TFA 1% marshmallow CAP 2% bavarian cream LA 1% sweet cream CAP 1% coconut TFA

I'll probably make a 30 ml of this to steep for awhile, cause this 10 ml tester is gonna be gone quick. I'll also probably up the coconut when i do. If i had a cherry flavor i might incorporate that as well, but then again I'm pretty stoned right now.

Sorry about the formatting, i don't know how to internet.

I'll start this thread off!
Originally, I attempted a "Reese's Peanut Butter Cup" flavor but after realizing how hard the chocolate was to nail down, I gave up on it. Unfortunately, I bought two different types of Peanut Butter flavor to nail it down and now am left with FW Peanut Butter and CAP Peanut butter with no real use for them.

Something I noticed about these flavors (YMMV) is they aren't a real 'creamy' type of peanut butter. So, what have you guys found to add to Peanut butter to give it that real creamy aspect? I was thinking a little bit of Hazelnut might help but haven't played with the idea yet, this thread may cause me to dig those flavors out again!

by lansuven42over 10 years ago

I haven't tried FW or CAP peanut butter, but I've been using tfa peanut butter for my adv for months now. It's not an in your face flavor, thats for sure, but on the exhale you definitely get a nice subtle peanut butter taste. I mix it with tfa caramel and a little bit of marshmallow to smooth it out. I like this recipe but I am positive it could be improved, just not sure how. I have no experience with sweetener, but did try a little cotton candy, it helped a little.

Hmm marshmallow sounds like a good idea. How much caramel/marshmallow are you using?

2 points

by lansuven42over 10 years ago

8% pb

6% caramel

3% marshmallow

2 points

by ThirdWorldOrderover 10 years ago

I have tried FW Hazelnut mixed in before and the peanut butter (tfa) just ended up tasting like hazelnut (and pretty gross). I can't remember the exact percentages, but it wasn't high for the Hazelnut. I would try TFA Whipped Cream to add some cream to your juice without overpowering the already delicate TFA PB

1 points

by Helfrd0771over 10 years ago

I've used cap peanut butter v2. Like others have said, caramel (I use cap v2), and marshmallow ( I use both tpa, and la) really smooth the flavor.

Without another flavor to smooth it it taste like burnt nuts, with a hint of peanut.

I just received an order of AP and was hoping that someone would have in put on the use of both combined.

2 - 3% marshmallow

1 - 2% caramel

Also about 3 - 5% vanilla seems to help.

I hope this useful, and look forward to seeing what others have to say.

Hey hey PB. The new "Glory" by FA smells like and initially tastes like peanut butter, and there are no diketone-free PB's (that's my prerogative). In this recipe, it tastes like a Nutter Butter cream the first few days, then the lite tobacco element of Glory comes through - sort of a djrum FE taste, very faint, almost in the back of my throat, sweet. Using this tobacco high note with/for the nut flavor is a win for FA imo

The savory qualities of Glory are tasting like peanuts and hints of sweet potatoes after a week, which is delicious but unexpected. I guarantee you will not hate me if you get the weird flavors to mix this - more below.

---- Furybutt McGee's Diketone-free PB Cream v1.0 ---
French Vanilla Creme TPA 4%
Glory FA 2%
Ice Cream HS 1%
Caramel Toffee HS .5%
30/70 pg/vg
Bonus: this juice mixed around 3:1 with Mustard Milk in a tank is a surprisingly good PB&J

About the HS adds - HS has an signature "edge" you can smell but below 2% I've had great results. HS ice cream has given me in cantaloupe cream experiments a unique "golden" note that I've associated with the "Golden Creme" logo since I was a kid. Oddly, the Caramel Toffee has a similar smell - it's an HS thing. Too much HS in a vendor mix is easy to spot once you smell a few flavors.

This is a work in progress but I thought I'd get this up here early, vaping every drop of this version,PB vapes have been historically too rich for me. If this recipe looks pussy, don't just double it - Glory (a FA "tobacco" I think) is potent, among the others

2 points

by fizzmustardover 10 years agoBest Recipe of 2014

That's very interesting about Glory's peanut aspect. I'd read it was supposed to taste like popcorn. I also hadn't seen that it was a tobacco...I thought of their 3 new flavors only Joy and Storm were tobacco.

I ordered Storm today to play around with. Have you experimented with it or Joy yet?

1 points

by _Laughmore_over 10 years ago

Frankly I wasn't sure, I got a hint of that djarum note and kind of assumed it was in the tobby family

Storm smells like smooth choco-banana to me from the bottle, a description I haven't read anywhere. I haven't mixed with it yet. HIC's notes mention very different tastes at 2 and 3%.

Joy is still OOS :(

Lemon is usually forgotten when people first try to work with peanut butter flavors, but it helps bring things together so well.

1 points

by Helfrd0771over 10 years ago

Can you elaborate please. I'm not big on lemon flavor, but just picked up a bottle use as a flavor enhancer.

How does the lemon effect the over all flavor? And do you know the science behind it?

1 points

by KeggsNAover 10 years agoProud Sidebar Reader!

I believe the original recipe used lemon juice and not TFA's Lemon. I just mixed it up using lemon juice since the only lemon I have is Flavor Express and WOW, is this pretty darn good. I mixed it at 30/70 for my dripper and I'm thoroughly impressed. It's a simple recipe but really leaves my mouth tasting like I just ate a Peanut Butter Cup. Going to make a large batch of this to allow for steeping!

Interesting. I have some FE Lemon too so I'll try it with that on the next batch.

1 points

by KeggsNAover 10 years agoProud Sidebar Reader!

Yeah I'll probably toy around with the FE Lemon myself since this batch I just made was with Lemon Juice. I know FE Lemon is a little on the strong side so I'll probably start it at 0.5%

I always wondered - does the PB flavours contain any actual peanuts? I'm allergic, and the notion of vaping something that i'm allergic to strikes me as a painful way to go.

Not going to try it, but I am interested if anyone knows!

The answer would be no. Just make sure you are using a flavor that is 100% artificial (don't know of any natural peanut butters but I'm sure they do exist somewhere...)

I'm gonna have to look for a natural peanut butter. Diacetyl be damned I will try it if I find it.

I've been working on peanut butter and banana cookies and I have come up with 2 recipes that I enjoy, The first is quite even between the banana and peanut and the second is more heavy on the peanut (at least to my tastebuds). Anyway here they are.
