Been AFK from this sub for the past 4-5 days due to work.. Why is the banner a clone/sticky saying "all threads should be clone requests"... I understand it's a joke..(hopefully). But isn't this just confusing as fuck to the new people who come in here. In the past three months I've seen this sub grow pretty quickly and in that time the "HEY might start DIY.. gimme dis clone recipe" threads have stayed relatively the same.. Why mess things up with the new banner and sticky, even if it is sarcasm?

Lenola Cream is a juice that I prefer to buy direct. Bobby and Ann are great people, and it helps to be able to hang out with them every so often! I am all for DIY, and I've been very happy with the juices that I make, and I keep a bottle of Lenola in rotation. I support small business, and don't mind helping a company that has done so much for this community.
BTW, they had a 25% off discount for Memorial Day. I underestimated how much I had on hand, now I'm a sad panda. I want to see what a long-steeped bottle tastes like, but my 60ml bottles get opened every two weeks.

Hahah the stickied thread was hilarious.. Saw like 5 guys freak out on someone who was joking about the joke post.
It is pretty funny since most people here understand the "Gimme the clone now" threads.. but newcomers who would already 50/50 post that are encouraged more so with the banner/sticky up. But as I said I haven't been on here for a week or so, if it's only been up for a day my bad for even making this thread.
Has no one taken into consideration that some people can't see a sidebar? Or even a header graphic? Some mobile clients don't show any of that. iAlien is a top ranked reddit client on iOS and I don't see any of the things the mods keep bitching at people to read. I've been a moderator on a few other forums and guess what, people never follow the rules. We had rules stickied on every section and actively issued warnings and temporary bans but it still did not stop people from breaking guidelines we set.
Mobile clients can see the sidebar. Learn to use it.

But on a real note.. I was just saying the banner/sticky could just reinforce bad behavior and ignoring the side bar. Wasn't mad about it or anything was just a concern for a joke that may have turned bad.

It's called giving up. We will never win the battle against people who do not read the rules or check the sidebar. Learned helplessness is the term used in psychology.
In all seriousness though, I expect the mods to put up another sticky after this one reiterating the rules in this sub, and perhaps enforcing the "read the sidebar" rule a bit more strictly after this fun little joke. This joke is probably just to bring a little more attention to the longstanding issues the sub has had.
I totally get the humor behind all of it but I agree that it may be a little overdone at this point. My only concern is how long will this last? It's only a matter of time until things get ridiculous.
That's what I was wondering too.. if people come into the sub, new.. They see that banner and assume it's the norm to start 5 threads to request clones/recipes. It's already bad as is with all the requests.. I feel like the banner alone will encourage it even more so.
So where do I go if I want a clone of a clone?
