So I've been vaping for about a year now and a member of this sub for about 4 months. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who makes this sub so awesome. I've learned so much over these past few months and I have saved a little over a 500 bucks since joining this sub.
Before I started vaping the wife and I smoked a little over a pack of day of spirits which set us back about 200-300 a month in nicotine costs. We switched to vaping, which was painful because we didn't know any better(we were vaping Puff brand liquid which is crappy gas-station liquid). We soon found a vape B&M and found some truly tasty juices(moonsugar was our weakness), but at 13-16 bucks for 15ml it wasn't cheaper than smoking, our costs had dropped to about 100-200 a month with the crappy liquid but quickly went back up to 200-300 a month.
Since joining this sub I have driven my costs down to around 30 a month without having to sacrifice tasty juices. On any given day I now have have 5-6 amazing(by my standards anyways) juice flavors to choose from and it is all because of what I learned on this sub. I feel like I can say, unequivocally, and with no irony, that this sub has fundamentally changed my life. So from the bottom of my heart and lungs, thank you all so much.
I went into the DIY thinking I'd save some money, but my passion for it grew. $1000.00 later, I still need more concentrates. I went full retard. My woman is pissed, but my laundry is still dirty, fuck her.
I've had to resort to getting my flavor shipments held for pickup and sneaking them into the house when the lady's not lookin. Vape-hating women do not like DIY ejuice.

My flavor collection continues to grow every week, and i just spent another $100 yesterday... even though I have tons of juice sitting around and not caring about dumping out a tank to vape a different juice... Im still currently spending more lol.
But hey, whoever said vaping was cheaper than smoking, wasn't doing it right ;D
Props to you though man, stay off the smokes.
I can never go back, just smelling the smoke from some of my coworkers makes me nauseous now.
If I had more cash flow my flavor collection would grow at a faster rate, as it is I've intentionally rate limited it. I add 1-3 flavors a month to the collection. It's slow, but sustainable. I think I'm currently sitting on about 20 or 30 different flavors, which is enough to do some pretty serious mixing.
i hear you. i kicked a 20+ year smoking habit, then spent too much on commercial juice and only found a few that i enjoyed, most times looking over B&M lists at all the cream infused concoctions never finding what i really wanted [its like all the fucking IPAs on tap now, there ARE other beers out there]... so jumped into DIY juice making and now i get exactly what i want all the time with massive savings on top of it. 30mL runs me between $0.77-$3 now [some flavorings can add up in some of my recipes].
so far i have about 4 ADVs that i have made... which admittedly isnt many, but they are mine that i enjoy. i cant even find 4 juices at B&Ms from commercial lines that i enjoy so i am winning. also i dont have to run out to the store now when i run out of juice, although keeping VG in stock has become something i have to pay attention to more than i wish i had to, or at least found a reasonable local supplier for just in case.
Do you think the moonsugar would b good with caramel swapped out for the butterscotch?
I wouldn't say as good as moonsugar but it's tasty, I've made a few clones of moonsugar and subbed out or added caramel with no problems. I still prefer it heavier on the butterscotch though.
Care to share your favourite MS Clone recipe? Here is the one I use:
Moon Sugar Clone :
1% 10% Ethyl Maltol Solution
3% Caramel (TPA)
8% Graham Cracker (CAP)
4% Sugar Cookie (CAP)
Flavour total: 16%
This is Kritikal Mass' Recipe but with TFA caramel substituted for CAP. The Caramel in my recipe is a little heavy and a bit dry. I am going to try reducing the Caramel % and adding some FA Joy to another batch. Cheers!
The irony is this was the recipe I found and used, with the exact same substitution of TFA for Cap. Unfortunately I don't have any records of any of my other experiments trying to clone this flavor because that was before I started using the juice calculator so I didn't have a digital record, lost my paper notes. I believe the only other changes I made was that I dropped Graham down to like 3% and added 5% butterscotch. Sorry I can't be more helpful....all of my initial experiments were lost and I never got around to trying to make a new MS clone because I was distracted by all the other bakery yumminess.

I keep seeing everyone using Joy, I may have to get on this bandwagon.
So I told my wife about you asking after Moonsugar, and she was like...ooo its been so long you should try and make that again.
This is what I came up with last night, its been almost a year since I had real Moonsugar so I can't say for sure how true this mix is, but it sure is tasty. I dropped the EM and used Caramel Candy instead because it adds the sweetness without gunking the coils as quickly.
