The sidebar is fine. It has useful tools for new diyer's who want to learn how to mix and create other great recipes.
A lot of recipes I have found on here are just as good as clones. I think it's stupid to turn this sub into a "clone only sub. The name of it is diy_ejuice for god sake. You want a clone sub? Go make one. Now every user looking for help with this hobby is going to get turned away.

Oh, there's no point in sweet talking me in PMs now, /u/kirk. It's way past that.
The clone requests have really seemed to have gotten a good bit better as of late. More under control and the ones that do get posted are met with a kind (sometimes not) suggestion to post in recommended threads. It's is the responsibilities of the people that have been here for a while to curb frowned upon behavior. In the short 7 or so months that I have been here I've seen it get worse, and now I think it is getting better. I have a feeling it will sine wave low again, but we can revive her!

Agreed. I try to be polite about it when I see the threads pop up but it still drives me nuts that there's so many people who disregard all the "prompts" to read the sidebar.
Yeah, but if they're on mobile, there aren't any prompts. That's why a beginners index stickied to the top was suggested not long ago.

That picture is just a drop in the bucket of my collection....I have 2 bedrooms filled for display and all of my family room. Sad thing is that I still have tons more stuff still in their boxes in storage.

I wonder if this has affected the sub count. It'd be funny if people don't get it and unsub us back to 14,999.
So a few days ago we have a stickied mod post about too much appropriate (though variable in quality) content made as individual posts.
Today we have a mod post of a joke requiring all posts be clone requests and now the frontpage is littered with juvenile drivel.
Crazy thought, instead of a sarcastic sticky about new guidelines...make an actual sticky about the actual guidelines. Also if you'd sticky the monthly clone recipe request thread, maybe less people would be inclined to make separate posts for them.
