Making a Banana Laffy Taffy for my mom, don't eat them myself. Looking for a bit of advice on starting banana ripe %
submitted over 10 years ago by WaterFlourYeastMixologist

So, my mom smelled banana ripe, and was immediately reminded of her favorite candy, banana laffy taffy.

I've only had a few in my life, but if I recall they just taste like that same banana ripe tfa extract.

When does TFA banana start to lose its touch and start tasting terrible? I'm thinking for the first batch I would do straight banana ripe and see how it turns out, but until now I've only used a couple of drops/ml.

Any help? Thanks!

You might want to go with a combo of LA Banana Cream and LA Salt Water Taffy

LA Banana Cream with some CAP Marshmallow and maybe a tiny hint of FA Fuji would get you closest IMO. Rough numbers, I would try

  • 6% LA Banana Cream

  • 4% CAP Marshmallow

  • .5-1% FA Fuji

I know the Fuji may seem weird, but I feel it would help give the flavor a juicy feel, like you get when you actually eat Laffy Taffy.

If she really wants the flavor to be an exact replica, I'd suggest ripping out any and all of her fillings. This will help give the authentic Laffy Taffy mouth feel.

I made Badgerfacedcat's nana cream (although the recipe isn't posted here anymore). My brother said it tastes like laffy taffy, and it's currently my brother and mom favorite juice (and I recently sent them 6 different 30ml bottles I'd of juices). If you want I can throw it your way, or I believe if you PM him he will share the recipes he deleted, or so I think I have read.

My advice would be to get some laffy taffy to try!

Start around 2-6% for any flavors (some even less). Don't listen to the morons that tell you to mix things at 15-20% until you know for sure that works for you or whoever you're mixing for.

Don't use Banana Ripe in plastic tanks, it trashed my KFL+ overnight.

I can tell you its awfully strong and has an alcohol aftertaste. Be sure to steep whatever juice you make with it. Use in low quantities!
