So, I have been vaping for a long time (5 years). Im really picky on my juice and I feel a lot of the juice I buy ends up tasting terrible. I only have like two juices I will switch between.
Fast forward to tonight I finally sat down and made some juice. Now, I know its really early and they have to steep and mix properly but I feel the two out of the four I made already taste better than 95% of the juice I buy. I have a feeling I just made my ecig hobby even larger by jumping into DIY juice!
edit I just havent tried the other two. Just clarifying. Going to let them just sit.
Yup, feel the same way about retail juices. I feel there's a handful of vendors who are truly good at what they do. And the rest are just mediocre. Difference between a nice steak restaurant and McDs. With DIY I'm getting the same great steak, I'm just cooking it myself at home.
What have you been mixing up?
This personifies exactly how I felt when I started:
Most of the juices I tasted were okay. Not mind-blowing.
My first few batches of juice were slightly better than okay. So I was already winning -
Now I've gotten way better at mixing than I ever thought that I would, and have about 10 awesome recipes that are as good as any retail juice out there if not better.
I'm still on that bubble waiting to make the jump. I've been subbed here for a little and know that once I start DIY, I'll love it. I just haven't dove in yet.
What's keeping you? Need help?
Tonight is the night I decided I'm doing all my research haha. Then I'll run my current juice stock dry and start the new endeavor. It's just daunting the amount of things you have to buy to start out. I'm sure there's more than enough resources on this sub to get me started though.
Buy premixed pg/vg nicotine for around 10 dollars(don't worry about saving money now, you already will be, this is just to get your feet wet). Some flavors you like for around 2 dollars each, rinse out old bottles, or buy some cheap ones. buy some 3ml disposable pipettes from Amazon for like 5 bucks. This should all cost you within the 30-40 dollar range and you've got juice for a month or so. This is how I did it for a few months and then went and got the scale and then got more flavors, pure nicotine vg, pg ect.
It really is just that easy. Shake and vape. It will be as good or better than what you're buying now and will let you save money to invest in better things later. (I was spending 30 bucks every few weeks on juice before I started diy)
Go, do it, go go.
Liquid Barn has an awesome new kit for anyone thats thinking about diving in. I may be a bit biased since I freelanced some design work for them. But they have a 20% discount with the promocode "reddit" right now.
They're also doing a kit giveaway on instagram right now. Check em out.

My DIY hobby became much bigger than my vaping hobby, at least in the money spent for flavors & supplies vs new gear. Don't be a flavor junkie; it will drain your wallet!
My biggest problem is that I keep ordering more flavors to make other people's recipes, then I add more onto the order... can't find one or two items, so go to another site, the. Can't justify the shipping so I have to add more... 3 or 4 days later, someone else's recipe sounds amazing, so the process begins again lol.
75% of my flavors I haven't even tested by themselves, and i haven't really made anything myself. Time to sit down and and get creative... no more spending for a while!
Awesome to hear it! The only time i try juice from vape shops is from my two co-workers that vape. The only ones i like so far were Monster Melons and Sugar Bear. One co-worker was raving about how much he loved this flavor called XXX Jolly Watermelon which is a watermelon jolly rancher. It smells absolutely delicious but when i tried it i swear it tasted like i was huffing aftershave and snorting my dads worst cologne. Then i looked at the bottle and i think it said something along the lines of "The best premium e-juice" and i laughed in frustration and changed my cotton immediately.
