Rhodonite: An Apple Raspberry Macaroon with powdered sugar. My favorite recipe to date.
submitted over 10 years ago by EnyawreklawMixologist

This flavor is one of my best and also one of my favorites. It is near and dear to my heart, and took the longest to come in to fruition. It's a super complex flavor with many layers and subtleties, but also a flavor you don't need to think about. Which in my opinion constitutes a great mix. This is a pretty advanced recipe that calls for a lot of obscure ingredients so beginners beware.

  • INW Raspberry Koncentrat - 0.5%
  • FA Fuji - 1%
  • FA Meringue - 1%
  • TFA Bav Cream - 1%
  • FW Yellow Cake - 1%
  • FA Fresh Cream - 0.5%
  • FA Cookie - 2%
  • FA Almond - 1.5%
  • FA Torrone - 0.2%
  • TFA AP (5%) - 0.5%
  • Mixed at 70vg/30pg, overnight steep
  • Recommended Temp: 425'F

A sweet and tart apple raspberry flavor through out with a light crunchy almond cookie on the exhale and a sprinkle of powered sugar at the end. This flavor is wildly complex, and those with well developed palates will really appreciate all the subtleties from it. But you can also just enjoy this vape without much thought as the flavor profiles fit perfectly together. Take your time and enjoy this vape, don't rush it, or you'll miss what it has to offer.

The fruits offer up a very nice main note. But it doesn't steal the show as all the other flavorings make up the cookie which dance beautifully with those fruits. The meringue sweeten the fruits and adds a nice sugary effect on everything. The bav cream, yellow cake, cookie, torrone, and almond, make up the macaroon. A nice light and crispy almond cookie. The fresh cream allows everything to lighten up and soften any blows the fruits may give. And the AP sweetens the cookie while also bringing out some crunch.

Please mix this up. I'm very excited to give you guys this recipe. If there was any recipe you wanted to try from me, let it be this one because in my opinion it's the epitome of where I'm at in my mixing "career". Expect a video of this soon with a full break down of the process that went into making this. I love you guys and this is my gift to you all. ENJOY FUCKERS.

edit: Added percentages for more fruit. The original is light on the fruit and more macaroon. Added new temp recommendation as well (still playing with TC)

Edit edit:

Lemon Vanilla Macaroon

  • CAP Lemon Meringue Pie - 3.5%
  • TFA Vanilla Swirl - 2%

Coconut Macaroon (thanks to /u/darkfires for the updated percentages)

  • TFA Coconut Extra - 0.5%
  • TFA Marshmallow - 1%

EDIT: After talks with some beta testers the new added percentages are the better mix. Fixed. Thanks for all the kind words about the mix. I luv u all kisses mwahh

EDIT (6/10/2015): I haven't found a Strawberry Macaroon flavor yet. Getting the same kind of notes to hit is difficult with the strawberries I'm using as of now. Though if you add 2% TFAStrawRipe with 2% CAPSweetStraw you get a very delicious strawberry cream and cookie flavor. So good in fact that its been an ADV for me for the past couple days. It's absolutely not a strawberry macaroon though.

Whats it taste like? Reviews say almondy and tangy/citrusy. Looks interesting. Didn't even know FA had this flavor.

If you've ever had italian nougat, it's spot on. Slighty tangy/citrusy sweet sweet nougat flavor. Slowly becoming a wonderful flavor to use for adding some brightness and body to fruit pastry mixes

I need to cleanse my palette I think. This tastes almost identical to my Princess Cake recipe. Not too surprising I guess since it's very similar looking at it now.

Meringue - Check

Raspberry - Check

Yellow Cake - Check

Almond - Check

I use CAP VC V1 instead of bav + fresh cream though

Really enjoying this though !

Can you really taste Fuji at 0.25% in this though? Sometimes I find it mild even at 2%. But I'm missing too many ingredients to try this recipe.

1 points

by Botboy141over 10 years agoMixing like a mad man...

I don't taste it but I don't have the best palette out there. I do notice a slight kick of tartness in the raspberry that otherwise wouldn't be there though.

I added percentages for more fruit. A lot of people think the flavor is better with the added percentages.

Funny thing: I mixed the original (pre-edit) with all but raspberry and... tasted raspberry. It wasn't strong, but definitely raspberry. (The iNw is in the mail, I'm looking forward to adding it to see the difference.)

Awesome. That Custard might be why it tastes similar, that fresh really lightens everything up , where the custard I think is going to add weight to them. Anyways, can't wait to hear your thoughts.

Just woke up and brushed my teeth, downed some water. An over night steep makes a world of difference to this recipe.

Still a similar profile but I taste a whole world of airyness to it that wasn't there 12 hours ago. Additionally I can taste the powdered sugar st the end of the exhale, that's so cool!

I don't taste the Fuji Apple but I can taste that it's adjusted the profile of the raspberry to be slightly more tart I want to say. The almond is beautifully balanced, I was thinking when I was mixing it, why no marzipan, but now I understand, the extra sweet creaminess would be too much sweet and would detract from the light airy feeling this stellar vape offers. WTG!

I'm so happy you enjoy it. Also I'm happy you can taste all of the intricacies, I was afraid not many people would taste that powdered sugar. Thanks for the kind words!

Didn't have the Inawera raspberry, so I tried it with my favorite Raspberry combo which is TFA Sweet Raspberry and FA Raspberry 4/1 combo for a total of 2.5% raspberry.

Will let you know how it comes out in a few days,

Thanks for the share !

Thanks for the recipe. My first mix will have to sub FA raspberry and DX Bavarian Cream.

Curious, why did you decide on FA cookie over INW Biscuit on this one? I'm waiting for the latter to be restocked at BCV, haven't tried it yet. edit: I don't mean to suggest it should be here, just want to understand the differences more.

1 points

by tet5uoover 10 years ago

I think the FA cookie would go great with the nutty elements of this recipe. It's more an italian biscotti flavor cookie.

1 points

by Enyawreklawover 10 years agoMixologist

exactly what /u/tet5uo said. It has more of a crunch as well. INW biscuit is just too buttery for this mix and tends to clash with the fruits.

How did FA Raspberry turn out?

1 points

by mentiveover 10 years ago

I'm curious on this add well, I also have capella sweet raspberry on the way. Just missing that and the torone

1 points

by _Laughmore_over 10 years ago

Once my legit bavarian cream arrives i''ll make a FA rasp version and one with 50/50 each rasp. The INW rasp is delicious but a little green tasting combined with so much crisp apple, which stands out to me @ 1%, maybe because I'm burnt out on it. Probably back that off too.

Mixing now so I can give feedback in the morning :)

Thanks for sharing this recipe; it's clearly very special to you and it's a tremendous gift to the community to share something on that level.

EDIT: It's very good after just a thorough shake. I can tell it's extremely well-balanced. More feedback after it settles :)

So what's the girl scout cookie recipe?

2 points

by Botboy141over 10 years agoMixing like a mad man...

Still in its infancy but working on a thin mint type recipe. I want the taste of a thin mint cookie but in creamy form that doesn't burn at higher power.

Will post it once it's close to done as always.

The one by HIC is awesome, I always keep a bottle of it around

http://vapingunderground.com/threads/hics-girl-scout-thin-mint-cookies.1813/

Because of the cocoa in it, you do need to vape this at a lower power

Torrone added to my next order.

I know it is probably stupid to even ask but it just seems so good...What about FA Nut mix as a substitution for Almond? Also torrone...I looked it up and it looks like it is nougat made with honey, lemon, and almond? Is that right? I have everything else, wanted to order more anyway!

1 points

by _Laughmore_over 10 years ago

maybe not an answer but an observation of nutmix - the hazelnut is very present. FA's hazelnut (individually and in nutmix) is woody and sharp in comparison to just almond.

1 points

by Vapespinover 10 years ago

Thanks

1 points

by Botboy141over 10 years agoMixing like a mad man...

Yeah...Nut mix is not much of a sub for FA Almond. Not even same ballpark really. Sorry!

Yea I pretty much assumed that lol. I havent worked with it much. Not sure what to do with it yet.

I just saw this and I'm in love with this recipe. I'm Sicilian, and my family always does the traditional Italian bakery stuff around Christmastime, and we always have macaroons. So delicious! Takes me back to my childhood. I made the coconut one too - I was wondering, have you tried it with FA coconut? It's wonderful as is, I'm just wondering about trying it with FA since I find FA's version to be a bit more buttery-toasty and thought it might work well in here. Thanks for all your hard work!!

Lol I feel bad posting recipes that always have new flavors from other recipes cause I know a lot of people that want to try it are going to have to buy more flavorings. Tell your wife im sorry, but this mix is awesome so don't feel bad lol!

by darkfiresover 10 years ago

First, amazing recipe, Enyaw. Second, I tried the Coconut Macaroon version at 3% coconut extra but it ended up tasting like sun tan lotion to me. I went down to **0.**3% and it's delicious!

Maybe I'm sensitive to Coconut in ejuice but to me all brands of coconut flavor concentrates seem extremely strong and must be added at very low concentrates. Am I the only one here?

1 points

by Enyawreklawover 10 years agoMixologist

You're absolutely right actually the recipe is better at a much lower percentage. I'm thinking maybe I used a different coconut flavoring, which is a rookie move on my part. Changing now

1 points

by returnityover 10 years agoArmchair Flavorist

Switch to FA Coconut or FLV Coconut,... TFA Coconut extra is terrible IMO. I don't like coconut or coconut vapes really but FA/FLV are delicious flavors. So creamy and mild, not at all like TFA Extra. You could probably use just a hint of the TFA for an extra coconut edge but 3% of it is gross.

by cerevisaphile87over 10 years ago

Sweet! The other 2 flavors also look super easy. Are they only 2 flavors or substitutes for raspberry & fiji??

1 points

by cjinctover 10 years ago

> INW Raspberry - 0.5%

I just watched some of the new video you posted for this recipe and saw that you held up a bottle of Raspberry Concentrate, which is a different flavoring than "Raspberry"

I'm gonna need to get me some almond for this mix (and after reading your notes on it). I have everything but that an AP, do you think I could temporarily mix something up without it?

1 points

by Enyawreklawover 10 years agoMixologist

Well the almond is really at the heart of it all and changing it would kind of change the nuance that makes it what it is.

What I always encourage is try to figure out if you can make it work, do you have any other nut flavors? Do you have anything with nutty undertones that you can highlight? Fucking around with recipes is a great way to learn your flavors. But as for this recipe unfortunately the only thing that is optional is really the AP. It's just used as a "seasoning" and just fine tunes it. Gotta get u some almond bruh, shits fire yo.

As a guy that has been mixing for 3 years I decided to give this a shot. I think about profiles like you do and the video made me order all the correct flavors to try this. You sir have provided a great service for all of us. You could easily have made this part of a juice line but gave it to the world instead. Well done and mad respect! Mixed a 30 up 15 minutes ago and its moving to 120ml status!

is there a sub for Torrone, I'm in canada and it's out of stock for a while now.

1 points

by diyguy1almost 10 years ago

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but after an 8-day steep (and a 4-hour heated UC steep after mixing, to speed things up.) I'm still getting only the raspberry flavor in this. I made it exactly per the recipe. I presume it will improve wth time, but I'm curious how it is that many of the mixers get a great vape on this and other recipes after only 1-3 days. I mixed it 70vg/30pg, 3mg, shook all the flavor bottles, and am vaping in a velocity rda.

Tried to make 500 ml for me and some friends.. Ended up with mixing 1.5 L 3 weeks after.. This stuff is amazing..

Im thinking of making the Coconut macaroon.. Do i have to substitude some of the fruit flavors in the original recipe, or just add it to all the other stuff?

Also.. i only have tfa coconut (regular), shuld i just bump it up to 0.5% ?
