Just curious if this is the way "our" Vanillin is made or if it's something diff...I would assume it's the same thing.
yes. every vanillin i buy from chemical companies comes from wood pulp. 100% of them reported this to me.
SA sells true vanillin but it's around $1500/kg. The wood pulp one I buy and resell is $65/kg. I got a 5g sample of the natural stuff and it's identical.
Cool. Thanks. I had no idea...I don't know if I've used any Vanillin. It was on my list of flavors to buy.
It's in almost every popular TFA flavor, which means it's in almost every popular retail juice.
There is almost no chance of anyone ever using naturally extracted vanillin. It just isn't happening. I looked into doing it about 6 months ago and the amount of vanillin you can extract from a vanilla bean is negligible. The cost is just too high.
Of course, vanillin extracted from organic tree wood pulp is "natural and organic" I'm sure.
Because the flavors between the two are identical, there's no much to worry about. When I bought my 1kg of vanillin my supplier sent me a 2kg drum of it because they said it wasn't economical to break it down. That's how throwaway cheap it is.
I highly recommend you get some -- it's great in almost everything. I like to use both vanillin (naturally sourced) and ethyl vanillin (synthetically manufactured) in various ratios as they really work well together.
I'm working on my own PG-free Bavarian Cream concentrate and it really is mostly vanillin and ethyl vanillin. It still tastes like ass, but it's quality coed ass versus neckbeard ass now.
