So this is my first video recipe. Of course it was going to be a strawberries and cream! I specifically made this recipe to cater towards beginners, people who want to jump in to DIY, as this will start them off with a good, diverse amount of flavors. It's still a great flavor nonetheless so don't think just because it's catered towards newbs it's lacking in any way, that is just not true. This video is kinda long cause I talk about steeping, certain flavor enhancers, and note taking. Expect the new videos not to be this way and more around 15min. This is the recipe if you don't care to watch my shitty video.

  • TFA Strawberry (Ripe) - 7%
  • TFA Cheesecake (Graham Crust) - 3%
  • TFA Bavarian Cream - 1%
  • INW Biscuit - 2%
  • TFA Vanilla Swirl - 3%
  • FA Vienna Cream -2%
  • FA Caramel - 1%
  • Acetyl Pyrazine or Ethyl Maltol - 1%
  • 1 Drop of MTS Vape Wizard per 30ml
  • Mixed at a 70vg/30pg, 3mg nic (100% VG)
  • Recommended Steep Time - At least overnight

All of the flavor notes for this recipe are in the video. So I really hope you enjoy both my recipe and my channel. The Let's Mix series is going to be a weekly occurrence every Tuesday. I was going to release this last night, but I didn't realize I needed to compress my videos for youtube, and trying to upload a 120gb file might take a while. So anyways, let me know what you think. Does my recipe suck, do I suck at talking, any criticism is welcome I'm really trying to get better at this haha. Stay tuned to my channel to see more videos!

EDIT; Oh I forgot to ask, If anyone has experience with screen capture on a mac please PM me. I want to start adding my Ejuice Me Up screens in my videos and have no idea how to do, and I need help. Thanks!

Video profesh here. Make sure you compress for YouTube at 1080p 10mb/s into an mp4 file. Most stuff has presets but I figured most people could use the help. 120gb file is pretty insane for something like this, the entire raw project folder for my short documentary on vaping is 120gb, and that has over ten hours of total footage from 3 different cameras and separate audio lol.

Edit: Ah! 30 minutes. Shoulda watched first. Well, without watching it, I can tell ya you definitely have some fat you could trim there if you wanna get your views up ;)

Can some of us sub the biscuit for cookie instead?

How much would the flavor change?

Biscuit is extremely hard to acquire...

Good video. I really like your style man and it's a solid recipe for sure. Even as a non-beginner, I liked your explanations WHY you used a certain flavor at a certain percentage. That's extremely helpful to beginners and non-beginners alike. Not just use 3%, but here's why I used 3%.

I'm really not someone to criticize someone's open contribution to the community, but you asked for input. I'd suggest a couple of cuts to make the video more entertaining. Like cutting to a shot of the text of the recipe or of the bottles of flavor just sitting there while you talk. I know it's a lot of editing, but as a viewer it can really make a long video easier to watch. Some text overlays could be cool as well.

I also know that production is often the longest part of video contributions, but a little can go a long way. You have some fat you could trim pretty easily.

Again, I like your style and you're good on camera. Thanks for contributing. Hope you continue!

Warning: Long post incoming...

Leaps and bounds better than the first video. This video has encouraged me to add a few items to my collection so I can mix this up next month (my target: Mixing Cigarette-like flavors for my brother and sister-in-law who prefer those, in addition to expanding my collection, which generally caters towards fruity/candy mixes). I am not looking forward to taste-testing the cigarette flavors, but whatever...it's not for me.

Things I liked about the video:

  1. The explanation of flavor percentages and why you're using them.

  2. You weren't moving near much as this one.

  3. The camera angle was much better.

  4. Your description of note-taking--not necessarily your take on the importance of it, but the methods you use and the frequency at which you use them.

  5. The explanation of "how to make sure you've shaken it enough"

  6. Showing how you heat up the bottle (seems trivial, but...do you leave the bottle cap on? do you take it off? do you submerge it entirely or submerge to a certain point? how long do you leave it? ...these are all items that are of importance to myself and I'm sure others)

  7. When you taste-tested the Bavarian Cream...literally made me laugh

  8. You explained that you added flavors first, then PG, then VG, then Nicotine. This is something that I think people will find important. If there's reasoning behind it--that'd be nice to know why you do it in that order, rather than just that being why you do it that way.

  9. With the exception of the very start of the video and the nickname part, this one had significantly less "bro mode" than the first one. A huge plus in my book.

  10. This video seemed much less improvised and more structured.

Things that need work:

  1. You mention not showing dripping the liquid, but if you're catering towards beginners as well, you're going to want to show your setup. When I'm mixing with something I already have a recipe for and not just experiment, I prepare my scale (calibration included), gather up all of my ingredients, get out my disposable syringe and gloves for the nicotine, grab however many pipettes I need (though this is less important for you since the bottles are squeezeable...my WizardLabs bottles do not have drip tops). Do you use a funnel for larger mixes to just pour the VG in? ...stuff like that. The end point being that if you are wanting to hit a broad audience of experience, you should include at least one shot in the video of these processes, then you can speed them up or skip them altogether in future steps. Though since this is for beginners I do think that it's important, even though it will seem more trivial for the experienced mixers. Most of the experienced mixers are going to be concerned about flavor notes more than anything.

  2. Building on #1 there...section off the video in steps. You mention other youtubers (GrimmGreen and such), so you obviously like the style of their videos or at least the success of their style. One thing that a lot of them do is list specific points in the video that they switch to different sections, i.e. "Flavor Notes: 10m20s" or "Percentage explanations: 5m10s" ...it may be a little more difficult since a lot of these items go hand in hand with one another, but I think if that's your goal in getting the message across, you would be able to please the beginners by having a longer, more informative video, and having certain parts that the more experienced crowd can "cut to the chase" to get what they want out of it.

Eventually once you get in the swing of doing these videos, I'd like to see a video describing the various "add-ons" that aren't really flavors, but just to add certain aspects to a mix. In this video, you used AP/EM...I'd love to be able to see a video that showed how to mix these things from the Crystal base, acid bases in the case of Citric Acid, or even just flavors that tend to perform like them (FA Meringue comes to mind as a "popper")

Anyways, great job on the video, and I am excited to see more from you. Sorry for the long post, but I'm very happy someone has started a channel on this topic and want to provide my take on it in the event that it can help in any way. Huge improvement, and something I can see myself getting impatient waiting for new videos :-)

I fucking love you so much. Not even kidding, thanks so much. I added some shots of me dripping each flavor showing it's measurements but that was about the extent of the actual mixing portion so I will definitely add in more airtime towards that next time. I agree on everything you have said, and hopefully will reach some kind of perfect structure that I can build so i can shoot, edit, upload much more efficiently. I literally wasted about 2 hours waiting for my 120gb video to upload before I realized I needed to encode and compress it first. I'm gettin' there haha. Thanks again man.

Great great video. I really appreciate what you're doing in general, in this sub, and now including video tutorials.

I like your style and your presence in your videos but the one thing I would say is to just try and swear a little less. It doesn't bother me, but in videos and especially tutorials, it is distracting. Words like "Fuck," "Bitch," "Shit," etc. are 'Loaded Words.' They carry emotional ties and when used excessively they overstimulate a viewer's mind (not all viewers) and start to form a distraction. They tend to pull the viewer's attention away from what's important. The occasional swearing is a good way to add character, but too much and, for some, you will lose attention and professional admiration. Like I said though, I don't mind, but I could see some being turned off by it.

It's true that this is not always the case, and varies from person to person and community or industry.

Other than that, great, great job. Well thought out and formulated tutorial and I can't wait for more videos. Keep up the good work YungLungzzz :)

Yeah I gotta agree with this dude. I've been vaping for a long ass time now. I tried making juice a few years ago, but it didn't work out and have been thinking about maybe getting into it now with some more clear instruction. I was expecting to see more shots of you actually doing stuff instead of just talking about all of the ingredients. Don't get me wrong, that stuff is all well and good, but I think you definitely need to include more of your process. Kinda the same thing with the first video. You talked a lot about why you do what you do and did a quick brief on everything you need, but I didn't feel like there was enough detail on the equipment and base ingredients themselves.

Either way I'm looking forward to seeing more and possibly getting into doing my own juice so I don't have to spend so much buying it. I'm pretty simple when it comes to flavors and when I find something I like I usually end up using that as a daily for a long time so doing a load of juice in bulk would be pretty great for me.

my opinion would be that making a dedicated hardware/mixing video would be great. You could show all the equipment that you use, how you get it all setup, go through a basic mix, show any potential problems you think people might run into, etc. This way instead of having to explain how to mix juice every week you can just refer people back to the dedicated mixing video.

I very much appreciate the video and the recipe. Just wondering the thoughts on using beginner in the title:

Seeing the post title I was interested but as a true beginner - and maybe it is just me - but when I see a recipe with 9 ingredients I generally don't think of them as beginner friendly for me. The recipe sounds delicious but why would it be beginner friendly especially with an INW flavor included?

Anyway just feedback on the title which got my hopes up, so I thought I'd pass along my feelings. Again thanks so much for the recipe and video. I'll get there with more time and money.

Hmm..maybe you're right. I was hoping that I could introduce a flavor intensive mix for beginners so they had a good amount of flavors at their disposal, and wasn't really thinking about how beginners might be afraid of mixing up something with more than 4 flavors. But then again, it's just a matter of pouring in an ingredient to the specified gram, and then pressing the tare button, moving on to the next. When I started DIY, I too was overwhelmed by everything. But when I actually sat down to do it, it was so simple. It was just simple measurements, and I found myself mixing 5+ flavor recipes almost immediately. If I get more comments saying that this is too intensive for a beginner I will surely remove that description. Thanks for the input!

Edit: On second thought, with the addition of flavor enhancers and wizard, along with the long flavor list. You're right, this is wayyy too much for a beginner

I actually just started to look into DIY last week and came across your previous two videos and subscribed and really enjoyed watching this whole video last night. Right now I am finding a few different recipes that I want to follow and this will absolutely be one of them.

I really like how you go through every flavor and enhancer and talk about how each one works with the others and you are justifying putting each flavor into the juice. I understand that you used to be in the restaurant industry which I really appreciate being a professional cook myself.

I also think calling it beginner is justifiable. To me is seems like the mixing part is the easiest so if you are just following a recipe then it doesn't really make a difference if you have 4 ingredients or 14. As long as you are capable of measuring with a scale you can mix 100 ingredients if you wanted to. The difficulty comes in when you start changing flavors and amounts and making all the little tweaks to a recipe.

One thing you could do is create two version. One with 2-3 more common flavors that beginners would most likely have in their arsenal, then have a section based on the additives and additional flavors that, to you, turn an already good "beginner" juice into a "premium" and complex juice. This will entice your beginner viewers into looking further into what makes a premium juice premium and complex.

I was thinking the same thing. I am not a beginner and yet I still don't have all the flavors on the list from the various places. A truly beginner and still delicious strawberry's and cream is Fizzmustards recipe's which is only two ingredients, vanilla bean and strawberry both by TFA.

American Fucking Football

by Vaganusaurusover 10 years ago

American Football fuck yeah.

On another note, this is humorously similar to a recipe I made.
TFA Strawberry (Ripe) - 6%
TFA Cheesecake (Graham Crust) - 2%
TFA Vanilla Swirl - 2%
TFA Vanilla Bourbon - 1%
TFA Vanilla Gelato - 2%
FA Vienna Cream -2%
HS Butterscotch- 3%
TFA Smooth 1 drop per 15ml

As far as as modifications to it go, I've had luck with functionally everything INW. Lime, Dark Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, Coconut, Exotic(?), Black Currant and a few others.

Woah! It really is almost exact. Great minds think alike. Have you posted this recipe before?

1 points

by Vaganusaurusover 10 years ago

No, but I'm fairly certain I saw another recipe similar to what you have, and improvised when I ran out of the originals (Vanilla Bean Ice cream IIRC).

Ended up enjoying what I've made more. It is perhaps a little bit more muted at first but it is much smooth and overall more enjoyable. More sweet things bring out a bunch of tang like nothing else though. I've spawned 6-7 different recipes with the above base (sans the crust and butterscotch). After a weeks steep without anything else it becomes less muted and it is more like a strawberry cream.

by juice_junkieover 10 years ago

So do u use this recipe but replace the strawberry with lime dark chocolate ect? Kind of use the creams as a base?

2 points

by Vaganusaurusover 10 years ago

I generally remove the butterscotch, the cheesecake crust and just reduce the strawberry (Ripe) proportional of the percentage of flavoring. I try to avoid going over 20% flavorings.

TFA - Key Lime Pie, FA Lime-tahity cold-press, and INW Lime together is fantastic. The TFA captures the base of the lime, FA captures the juice, and INW the smell and the bridge between the other two. INW lime generally comes with a small amount of bite so it works best in more mellow recipes. INW Coconut + INW Lime by itself or with the vanilla flavors is phenomenal too.

You definitely have the "I'm new to this video thing" character about these videos, but I want you to know that I love it. You're genuine and informative, and that's all I want in DIY videos.

Also, I like the cussing. While it may sound unprofessional, it adds to the authenticity of your character; the authenticity of YOU!

It may be your first recipe video so far, but I want you to know you're doing a fantastic job so far. :) Thank you for bringing more to this sub.

Edit: I would comment on your youtube, but I don't have a google+ account or anything like that.

I think it would be very helpful to shorten the video up to about 10 minutes, because viewers can pause the video and move to any point in the video that they need to go. It's definitely a good idea to explain the flavors and how they mix, but the majority of people, myself included, don't want to spend 30 minutes watching a video, or have 30 minutes of video to skim through to find the meat.

Also, right when you start talking about a flavor, you should flash the name on the screen for a couple of seconds. That will help with people who are trying to skim through the video. The transition from your face-time, to the filling of the bottle with flavor is noticeable enough for the video skimmers, so introducing the flavor onscreen at that point is not necessary.

My last constructive criticism is about the casual swearing. I do it daily and don't think about it, but to the viewer, it might seem like you're not taking things very serious. It just doesn't flow with the video right. Nothing wrong with the cursing, but tossing curse words in with your casual chat just seems a bit off.

Please take this as constructive criticism and nothing more than that. I want you to succeed and I appreciate that you are contributing to the community and sharing your knowledge!

Yeah this video was entirely too long, but I really wanted to hit a bunch of points in one video. I'm going to add time frames for those who want to skip to certain points in this video as well. I'm expecting next videos to be around 15min or so, as now I don't have to really introduce the format to people, they will just know what's coming. And as for the cussing, I swear I try to make it a point to myself not to do so, so much, but when people say "um" I fill it in with "fucking". My mother hates it. Just know that I'm definitely trying to tone down all the filler stuff when I talk, speaking in front of a camera is a lot harder than it looks haha. Thanks man!

What is undeniable is that you have a passion for mixology and what I've learned from watching your first 3 videos and following your posts on reddit is that you have a gift for it. The cursing doesn't bother me but I could see how it would some people, the bottom line is that I totally agree with your philosophy of making great e-liquids, as good as anything available in the stores, at a price that we can afford. As a beginner explaining what each ingredient does is important to me, you can teach a monkey to mix a recipe but what happens next if the mix needs corrections is what I need to learn about. So It's all good bro, keep up the good works.

I think a flavor containing EM, AP and MTS can't really be considered a beginner's recipe. Shit, I still don't have AP or EM, and I didn't really bulk up my orders with things like vienna cream, caramel, and biscuit until I had a firm grasp of how flavors interact and mixing procedures; essentially, I no longer considered myself a beginner.

Good video and great recipe nonetheless, but I just fear saying this is a beginner's recipe would scare some beginners away.

Really liked the video. As a beginner it is really helpful to get descriptions of why you use certain percentages in your recipes. And also the flavour enhachers that can make your mix pop.

Maybe you could begin the next video by tasting the mix you just did in the last video. I am also curious about what hardware you use for this purpose.

I love this...it's a niche in the vaping video scene that isn't really hit on that well so big up yourself for stepping out there. If I could provide any criticism that wasn't already covered here it's to minimize the forward/backward pacing movement you were doing in the beginning. We all have our ticks when we do any kind of public speaking but it was just a bit distracting/dizzying.

Oh and add your reddit username on your video descriptions!

I will be mixing this up next time I make a flavor order so thanks!

Only critiques are you could probably edit this to be shorter and could also cut out quite a bit of content. For talking about stuff like flavor enhances, its probably best to do a whole seperate video. That way someone doesn't think "Oh I remember Enyawreklaw talking about flavor enhancers" and they spend a bunch of time hopelessly trying to find that because its located inside a recipe video. I feel you though, I tend to go on when I talk and accidentally go into long tirades on unrelated subjects. I could never get into video making thanks to that.

But thats just a small thing and since you're still early in the videos its not a big deal. You're doing really great, definitely keep these up. Hope it helps to spread the word of DIY some more.

And keep the dope recipes coming :) I've gone through 240ml+ of your Cereal Milk already.

SO I finally mixed up a bottle of this last night. I followed your advice and let it sit overnight before vaping it. Love it though man keep on hitting us with the videos!
