I'm letting you all know first that I launched my youtube channel today. You can check out my first video here, where I talk about how I got into vaping and DIY as well as a new users guide. I really want to give back to the community in a more entertaining way, so I decided that the vaping scene didn't need another reviewer, but DIY Ejuice Channel! I know there are a couple out there but I want this one to be special. I'm going to be posting videos a few times A WEEK, giving out recipes, tips, techniques, flavor notes, and to top it all off, I'm going to be bringing on a few of the top mixers in the game, you know who they are! Other than that I will be talking about advocacy and legislation, building mods and coils, talking about new products, and just shooting the shit with whatever comes up in the vaping community. Got a question, ask me and I'll try and answer it. Got a new recipe you want me to make, let me know and we'll show the world. We're all in this together and this isn't my channel, but ours, so I ask you check it out, and join the conversation!
Edit: idk why I posted this as a txt and not a link.
I feel like that half-cough you keep doing throughout the video should be called the DIY cough. It comes from the accumulation of terrible flavors we have all made and forced ourselves to vape because "maybe it just needs to steep." For real though, this is great what you're doing, and hope to see more from you soon.
Lmao when I was editing this video, which is like the first video I've ever made, I noticed I was coughing a lot and I thought "wtf am I sick or something!?" Oh and also I fuckin say "you know" all the God damn time. But thanks man I really hope I can help out much more people this way. And btw I wanna talk to you about something so expect a PM tomorrow.
Being on camera is it's own skill, not that I'm any good at it... I cringe watching myself. Joys of vlogging... adopt an identity, even if it's the one you already have... being truly candid is impossible when you know the camera is rolling - my armchair $0.02 BS, too baked for complete thoughts atm
This is awesome! I can't wait to see your next videos.
FWIW, when I get nicotine I use a funnel to put it into (well marked) juice bottles--that way (1) I can put them in the freezer and pull them out one at a time, and obv (2) use no syringes.
Also, I had no idea BCV was on the east coast. I'm near the west coast and they're still hands-down the fastest to my door. Love those guys.
Also, dude get a sweet characteristic desk setup like Suck My Mod's billy holiday painting or something.
Last but not least, thanks so much for your contributions here. You're definitely on my shortlist of open-handed contributors of great mixes and experimentation recaps, people I want to emulate (once I come up with some original recipes not just half-step tweaks of other people's, getting there but I don't have as much time to devote to it as I'd like.)
edit: spelling and calm-down on the excl pts.
Thanks so much for the kind words it mean a lot and I really appreciate it. I'm just trying to be as useful as possible! And for the desk thing, I'm working on something for when I sit down to do my mixes and stuff, I realized the living room is the worst place to shoot since there are skylights and fucking shit everywhere. I just wanted to get ONE video out as soon as possible. Thanks again buddy I hope you stay tuned and keep putting in great input!
I was just thinking the other day that it would be awesome to have a diy juice video series similar to Iron Chef- pick a flavor that two or three great mixers have to use in a recipe off the cuff. My friends and I do something similar, but it's usually with awful flavors haha.
That sounds fucking awesome. Open the flavor "basket", each of the mixers makes the best juice they can with these primary ingredients, and then whoever wants to participate in judging would make all three juices and vote for the best! Or something like that. That would be a pretty interesting weekly/bi-weekly/monthly event
What kind of hotplate/magnetic stirrer do you use? I've been hating having to shake my bottles. Doing it shows me how out of shape I am.
Hotplate stirrers are super expensive - like $200+. If you're like me and are cost conscious, here's my solution...
- DIY magnetic stirrer kit - just add an enclosure from Radioshack or a cigar box or tupperware, whatever.
- Glass Beakers
- For heating, microwave a bowl full of rice, and let the beaker sit in it for a while... then put on the stirrer after it gets hot.
1/4 the price of an actual hotplate stirrer.
For more info and some videos regarding the stirrer kit, go here.
Ouch, yeah I did some research and saw the huge price tags. Definitely not in my budget, especially as a casual vaper. Maybe an ultrasonic would be better since they can combine heat as well? Haven't looked those up though. However, it does seem that the magnetic stirrer is by far the best way to mix juice. Thanks for the links!
Subscribed! Have a +2 Charisma modifier for opening the video with American Football.
Subscribed, that shit was dope. I'm looking forward to more videos man, this is an incredible idea (that looks like it's going to be well executed as well!). The recipes you've been putting out lately have been consistently awesome, and I"m stoked that you're starting this video channel... I don't really subscribe to many or consistently watch any kind of youtube channels (rather I just search for something if I have a problem or need to see some reviews), but this looks like it could be pretty fuckin rad. Thanks again for all of the quality contributions you've already made, and for all the rest you're about to!
Subscribed. Can I make one suggestion though? (this may be the instructor in me) but you're constantly rocking back and forth and it's rather distracting. Other than that, I look forward to more videos!
hahaha I know, I guess I was nervous in front of a camera for the first time. I made it a point to myself to never do that much 1. swaying 2. coughing 3. "you know"-ing
I bookmarked this to watch because I have a lot of respect for your DIY Mixes. Unfortunately, I can't say I was impressed with the video. Your constant rocking and movement made me anxious while watching, the language and content seem hastily put together or improvised, and I got an overall sense of "bro mode." My suggestion is to have the camera more direct-on-you rather than top-down. Be sitting down to help eliminate the constant movement, and have a cheap chalkboard or piece of paper off to the side or behind the camera that has an outline or storyboard for the content of your video.
I understand this was your first go at it, and I'm sure anything I would do would be awful, so I don't want you to take this the wrong way. I will subscribe and continue to watch, as you have a lot of experience with mixing juice and your flavors rock. Can't say this was a very good "Intro to DIY" video, though. If I were going to recommend an intro video to someone, I'd refer them to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVVETqD3O0E
and this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RdboUVCROs
The "Keep Vaping Dawg" just felt really forced and awkward, but the links to the websites below the video were a nice addition. I look forward to seeing your future videos, so I hope you find this feedback constructive. I have a tendency to be blunt, so sorry if it comes off as rude, but that is not the intent--the intent is to help improve.
Thanks!
All good man! Yeah it was a pretty shitty video lol and I totally agree with the swaying and stuttering and such. I've made it a point to not use so many filler words. I really appreciate the sub and especially the constructive criticsm. I feel my lets talk about nicotine was a better step towards a more "watchable" version. But I really hope you're going to like the mix video I'm editing now. I (hopefully) solved all the issues from the previous videos. I just needed to get more comfortable in front of a camera. Thanks again!
