I've been mixing almost entirely at 60/40 vgpg and I would like to use my recipes at a higher vg ratio. Ive been trying my recipes at 70 vg, but they are turning out muted and just not great even after a good steep. I'm assuming I need to increase the amount of flavoring slightly to compensate for the extra vg. Is there a general rule of thumb of how much to increase each flavour to take my recipes from 60/40 to 70/30?
With the majority of the PG-carried flavors, a 10% relative increase per 10% increase in VG ratio can be a good rule to start with :) example: 15% flavor on 60VG to 16.5% on 70VG
Okay let's talk logic and math, Everything we do is based on simple math , so am going to to take an educated guess here ! I haven't tried this method.
I think the standard is to use PG/VG but non the less. if your mix is 40/60 and you are increasing the VG by 10% and decreasing the PG by 10% , then increasing the flavoring to equal amount .
So if I have 10% strawberry in a 40/60, increase to 70%VG then increase by 10% of the strawberry . So it will be 11% in a 30/70 mix.
Again I didn't test this and it might sound ridiculous to some ! But hay an idea is an idea and you can test it and report back . :-)
May want to consider some different concentrates. I craft all of my juices for max vg which ranges from 80-90% vg, which means I am only using 10 to 20% flavoring. They are full of flavor, but do require steeping. Especially for my savory flavors.
