I thought you would appreciate my new app concept (ADV)
submitted over 10 years ago by quoezil

Hey guys,

I'm expanding my design portfolio and did an app concept. The app is called "ADV" and the purpose is to put in all of the concentrates you own and it would check to see what clones you could make with the concentrates. When you have picked a clone it will guide you through what you want in it (ml/nic/pgvg) and then gives you the recipe to make it at the end.

You can test the app but its limited because it's based on static images: https://marvelapp.com/5024jd

Enter > Flavor Apprentice > Acetyl Pyrazine 5% > Almond Amaretto > Candy Apple > Next > Queenside > 10 ml > 0 mg > 30/70 > Home.

I would love to hear some feedback, some of my other designs are here if you would like to see (including some vape labels): http://imgur.com/a/1U2BW

Thanks

EDIT: This is just a concept, I'm not a coder and I just designed the screens for my portfolio.

I dig it! The main problem I foresee though is populating it with decent recipes. IMO that's the main problem with e-liquid-recipes.com, just a lot of crap there. I'm a programmer too, although not phone apps, so i'm naturally very interested.

This is just a personal concept, I'm no coder. I was thinking about this and a thought I had is with a user rating system and if it goes under 3.5 stars or so it gets dumped.

Or into a category they have to choose to browse through.

So if I'm reading this right, this isn't a real app and never will be, at least not under your leadership? Uh, thanks for being a prick tease. lol

haha, if a developer wants to work with me on this I'm all for it but my coding skills are useless

Can't see the marvelapp page cause my mobile is being retarded but I'll check it out when I'm back at my PC. Your other design work looks really good.

Will the user be able to have a database of their flavours or will they need to enter them each time they search for a recipe?

Will you be setting up the flavour database yourself or will it be added to by users? I ask because ELR use the latter and they've ended up with like 5 entries for a single flavour due to differences in spelling etc.

I'd suggest a rating system for the recipes if you haven't already. I've made a few clones that have not only not been an actual clone but just a bad recipe all round.

Thanks for the suggesting but this isn't an actual app in development, it's just a design. It would have made sense for me to add a rating feature into the design, thanks for the heads up.

Haha damn, my bad. Good luck with it though. I would have liked to get into design but ended up working in print instead. All the best!

I'm trying to get on it, but the pages aren't loading correctly. The top half of the screen is all light blue, so icant really navigate anything...

marvel is relatively new, maybe it has a few problems with certain hardware or browsers. I added a few screens to my portfolio if you still want a quick peek.

Nice work man. Overall i think it's a great idea.

A few things from a DIY's persective...

  • It would be great to see percentages on the initial juice screen. Many DIY'rs dont need to be guided through the mls/nic/ratio sections. The options presented are also too limited.

  • It seems you're limited to a certain company when choosing flavours to mix. Maybe I want to add several flavours from different companies and see what i can make. I would much rather enter my concentrates once and get a big list of flavours that i can make.

From a designers perspective...

  • Font sizing & general typography needs work, most of this is too small and would be difficult to read on a phone. Its really important to test how it looks on a phone. Skala Preview or Composite App are good tools for this.

  • You need to work on simplyfing the flow of the app. The UX is a little clunky to be honest, it feels more like a website than an app.

  • Invision is pretty awesome when it comes to prototyping.
