We've made excellent yogurts, cereals and cakes. What's next on the agenda?
submitted over 10 years ago by EnyawreklawMixologist

This sub is doing an excellent amount of work. In terms of desserts we have great recipes for cakes, cereals, and yogurts, so I ask what should we all focus on to next? With another summer approaching I feel we should move on to more refreshing and sweet type vapes. Unique lemonades and teas, or ice creams sound fun. This sub does well when we all collectively improve on each others recipes so that is why I propose we all move in a general direction. As of now I'm working on a plethora of things, but my main focus is on Ice Creams. Sweet, fruity, creamy, flavors with a hint of menthol or koolada to make a refreshing summertime vape. I can't wait to see what comes up from the community!

My very first recipe last week was summer inspired. I call it Cool Summer Breeze. I've tweaked it a bit and it's better. All TFA ingredients...

7% strawberry ripe

6% juicy peach

2% strawberry

.5% koolada

Pretty decent shake and vape.

Is koolada mentholated?

1 points

by 1800fullytorquedover 10 years ago

To me, it doesn't have a minty flavor like menthol. It just provides a nice cooling effect.

Thanks. My buddy loves that effect with fruit flavors and I'm considering menthol or koolada to attain it. Or both, perhaps.

you could try to add a bit of Apple and Menthol and there you go, Timebomb's TNT Ice :)

I did a simple FA Watermelon + Koolada juice but wasn't feeling it. It's missing something (a lot). Might re-visit it here in a few minutes and see what I can come up with.

Edit: OK just threw this together. It's much better than watermelon by itself lol. Was going for some sort of watermelon lemonadey thing.

  • FA Watermelon 4%
  • FA Lemon Sicily 1.5%
  • FA Orange .5%
  • FA Fuji .25%
  • Koolada 10% solution 1%

I'm working on a pastachio icecream and some tropical flavors with FLV's citruses. absolutely love their guava and want to make a POG flavor.

I'm about a week away from finishing my Looper clone, and after that I won't be doing any more cereals; I'm so over it lol.

Although, I haven't gotten to the yogurt stuff yet, I may have to do something with that first. What stands out to you as the "excellent" yogurt flavors that have floated through the sub?

1 points

by smoakleyyyover 10 years agoMixologist

Heard so many good things about FA Yogurt. Although it contains diketones. I'm gonna pick some up anyway though lol. Probably gonna mix it with FA Banana and some CAP sweet strawberry at first.

What pistachio flavor are you using and is it good? I can't buy pistachios anymore because I can down a $15 bag in one sitting and I'd go broke. I love those damn things haha.

1 points

by shrine399over 10 years ago

TFA's Pistachio is good and I'm trying to work with it but it's almost acidic/sour. I just ordered some FA pistachio hoping it may do better. I'll let everybody know when I'm happy with it :)

I forgot to mention I'm also working on a blueberry dreamsicle for the summer time.

Working really hard on green tea ice cream right now. I feel as though tfa green tea has failed me so I tried making my own green tea and matcha extraction but it tasted like grass. Now I'm giving FA green tea a shot to see how that works out. Also trying to nail down a really good strawberry milkshake but that one is giving me trouble as well. Ice cream is one of my main focuses right now and I'm determined to get it right. I've dumped some decent stuff, but I'm going for greatness, not just ok.

by purty707over 10 years ago

for a decent strawberry milkshake, try this out:

3% FA Strawberry

2% FA Vienna Cream

0.5% FA Caramel

1% FA Custard

0.25-0.5% FA Vanilla Classic

also, add a drop/5ml of INW Raspberry if you have it.

1 points

by jakeabbottover 10 years ago

I have everything but the FA strawberry and vanilla classic. I have tfa strawberry ripe and cap sweet strawberry and tfa vanilla bourbon and cap vanilla. Would any of those work in this or should I just put in an order for what I'm missing?

Please let me know about that green tea ice cream, I'd be glad to tag team this one with you! I have a buddy who is DYING for me to make him some!

Edit: I think we may have discussed this before in another thread...

Haha yeah I believe so as well. I got another week or two of steeping on my fa green tea blends. When those are ready I will report back.

I would love to see someone come up with a liquid that tastes like the Monster in the white cans. I've been putting off getting into DIY but that would make me jump right in to it.

2 points

by DickGoblinover 10 years ago

the thing about energy drinks(or most drinks in general) is that you cant get the bubbly taste, which i find to be a huge contribution to the taste of the actual drink. Instead u just get a flat, not fizzy soda

1 points

by Dizfunkyover 10 years agoOne of "The Damned"

You could try adding a bit of champagne for the fizz? Not sure how that would pan out.

1 points

by DickGoblinover 10 years ago

I have tried it in my baja blast clone, i added 2-4% and it didnt do much. Obviously it might change after some steeping, but only time will tell

1 points

by JasperDanielsover 10 years ago

That's true but there are manufacturers that have pulled off the fizzy feel. Honestly even without the carbonization I would still jump on it, even just to be horribly disappointed lol.

2 points

by smoakleyyyover 10 years agoMixologist

Back when I did the hookah thing there was a shisha called Mobster that tasted and smelled nearly identical to Monster. The regular one, the others weren't out yet. I would like an juice that tastes like any monster honestly lol.

Btw the white is the one I go for 90% of the time. Also go for the red bull that has the lime in it as well. Guess I like my energy drinks with lime.

The white one is my thing, definitely addicted to those!

Awesome idea and thread! Some of my favorite vapes are creamy, rich custards and cereals, but I've focused purely on those types of flavors for so long that I can hardly taste them anymore, and anything in that same vein just seems to blend together and taste the same now. Basically, I'm burned out on them.

One of my absolute favorite summertime juices from back in the day is Cool Blue Nutz from Down Home Vaping LLC: According to the description on the site it is "a combination of alot of flavors, Blueberry, Vanilla, and a few others. Comes in regular or "cool" (a touch of menthol)."

The primary flavors I get out of it is Vanilla, Blueberry, and a bit of coconut. I am TERRIBLE at creating my own mixes from scratch, and have not had any luck coming anywhere close to this juice... If anyone has any ideas (or better yet has also tried this flavor) on where to start, I would be forever grateful! I've had this up in the Clone Request thread for a bit with no luck, but I think it makes a FANTASTIC summertime ADV!

Someone make a goddamn Snapple Rain vape, Plz.

I am halfway there with some INW Cactus, Citrus Punch, and a few other things. It's been so damn long since I've tasted that sweet, delicious rain....I almost forget what it tastes like.

by Enyawreklawover 10 years agoMixologist

Holy shit I would love this. It's been too long since I had one and I can't remember what exactly it tastes like. Is there any way I could taste this sweet nectar again? If we could clone this we would be rollin in vape money.

At the moment I am working on extracting tea and dried fruits for this very purpose. In a couple of weeks I will have my rotovap and centrifuge delivered and set up. Feeling a need for fruits, sweet and tangy after a long winter only vaping custard styles.

I want vegetables herbs and acids and fruit. Currently trying to develo a strawberry cardamom with some citrus subnotes. Sweet and tangy! Berry lemonade style.

1 points

by Enyawreklawover 10 years agoMixologist

This is great. I have been doing extractions but have found out too much is getting leaked into the juice. I just need a way to filter all that stuff out. Definitely let me know how it works out for you

1 points

by CaptainBludclotover 10 years ago

You want to remove all the sugars and all the cellulose. Either mechanically (expensive or requires a mad professor to build you some tools (I have two of those from the local UNI building my workbench setup as we speak.)) or by fermentation. Mechanically removing yeast and alcohol is a LOT easier than any other methods of getting rid of the sugar. There are also ways of crystalizing the sugar in the pulp but it requires temperature, pressure and expensive equipment. I'm not a chemist but I have two chemists and a syrup maker / cocktail artist who teaches me their methods. Creating extracts potent enough to be suitable for vaping requires some highly expensive lab equipment and a lot of science. Don't even bother trying in the kitchen.

One thing well worth a try though is if you can get a vacuum machine and water bath, you can make infusions of dry matter in pure VG in the water bath over time and then filter it. Works great with things without fruit meat and sugars. Tea, Cardamom, green herbs etc. You filter it afterwards using a regular coffe filter or build something with extremely fine stainless steel mesh and muscle power. As for fruits you either need a still which is mostly illegal everywhere without a permit and license or a rotovap, centrifuge and mechanical ways of purification and homogenization (using a gas cannister cream bottle works great for making a uniform solution).

If you are going to do it manually like that at home I suggest you stick to simple, dry herbal ingredients that break down into manageable components in solvents and do all the fruits etc with concentrates. Hope some of this helps.

EDIT: Trust me. if you spice your mixtures up with real extracted spices and herbs they will add the earthy notes that synthetic flavourings lack.

The shittiest fruit DIY can be quite wonderful if you do it like this by adding some stealthy organic ingredients.

EDIT 2: Example. use fresh mint, some tea leaves or garden greens, whatever you have that may add interesting notes. Soak them for up to a week in a vacuum sealed bag. You will want no bubbles at all or it will start rotting with quickness. Keep in mind notes will change with time. I have had the best results with mint by using short duration and a LOT of plant matter. 24 hours in 60c retains some of the fresh cut aroma but very low potency. Perfect if you want that invisible cooling for summery vapes without the mint being overpowering. Gradually add fruits afterwards to achieve the profile you are looking for.

Holy shit this is great info man. I'm totally going to try some stuff out, since I have a friend who's father works in a lab and has a ton of equipment, and I believe he has a centrifuge. I will definitely be asking for help along the way which I hope you won't mind. I really want to get a coffee extraction down because one of the flavors I mixed was out of this world, it just left such a weight in my lungs and scared the fuck out of me. Hopefully I can get all the oils and sugars out of it while just keeping it's dark essence.

by hotwingsandcoldbeerover 10 years agoTobacconist

I'd love to suggest tobaccos but I get the feeling that tobacco flavors aren't all that popular, compared to fruits and desserts. They are also some of the hardest to get right.

I do like the ice cream idea. I've started down that road myself.

1 points

by sthprk33over 10 years ago

I had never been a fan of tobaccos until I started experimenting with them for a friend of mine who will ONLY vape tobacco/coffee vapes. I fell in love with FLV Cured Tobacco... It's an incredibly tasty flavor, and seems to mix very well with all kinds of things. The only problem with it, as others have mentioned, is that the tobacco flavor fades fairly quickly as the juice steeps/rests/percisteepilates. The Colorado Cat recipe floating around here has become one of my ADVs, as its just so incredibly smooth and tasty!

I've decided to go a light cream route for my summer vape goal atm, whipped up something yesterday that is really good pre steep, but needs some work to be nailed yet.

Fruity Custard

(TFA) Coconut Extra 2%

(Cap) Vanilla Custard V1 4%

(TFA) DX Banana Cream 5%

(TFA) Pear 1.5%

by venemousover 10 years agoMixologist

Current work in progress:

5% TFA Lemonade

2% TFA Cranberry

1.25% TFA Jackfruit

1% Koolada

0.5% TFA Sweet Raspberry

1 points

by deadnugentover 10 years ago

Here's what I've been vaping since it got warm outside, a play on /u/fizzmustard 's nana cream.

7% TFA Strawberry

4% LA banana cream

3% TFA Hawaiian drink

1% TFA dragon fruit

Koolada to taste, I like it with 2 drops/10ml. I don't bother with the citric acid.

1 points

Does the reduced dragon fruit make it more coil friendly?

It seems to be, I left out the citric acid which I think is helping too.

I still haven't seen a macaroon flavors yet

1 points

by Crowbar_Abortionover 10 years agoPâtissier

I have a clone of Cloud Provisions Cecil that I am working on. It's labeled as a Lemon Coconut Macaroon.

Cecil Clone:

5% (Lor) Lemon Meringue Pie

5% (TFA) Coconut Candy

3% (Lor) Bavarian Creme

This is one where I am trying to model it to my taste as opposed to a true clone. This gives a subtle lemon and sweet coconut inhale, with a meringue or macaroon like exhale.

2 points

by Thumper_357over 10 years ago

Oh very awesome! I know that when making macaroons the recipe calls for a lot of almonds but I'm not sure if almond flavoring would be good or altar the flavor in a macaroon mix

1 points

by Crowbar_Abortionover 10 years agoPâtissier

Oooh I hadn't even thought of that. Sorry to say pretty ignorant of actual baking ingredients, mostly going off my less than consistent nose. I do have a small sampler of toasted almond from TFA. I will use it in place of some of the coco candy and bavarian cream. This could use a bit more of a solid flavor to balance out the meringue and bav creaminess.
