New Android juice calculator - Request for comments
submitted over 10 years ago by starsight71

Hi all, I've just put out the first public release of a e-juice calculator/logger that I developed. I'd love to hear some comments or critiques on its usefulness. I'm working on an update that'll include the option to mix by weight and will clean up the flavouring section a bit. I also plan on including a coil builder tool but that is a ways off.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated...Thanks

It's one of the nicer calculators I've seen. Really simple, bright ui and quick response to commands. The only thing I would like to see in any calculator is a slide bar for flavors where you set your target flavor values and use a slide bar to decide how much of each flavor; kind of like a reverse engineering juice calculator

Thanks for the feedback... I appreciate it. I was going back and forth on whether to use sliders... They're great on a tablet but not so good on a phone in portrait orientation (I have fat fingers). I may code it to have sliders show on all but portrait phones in the next update.

True, they are a bit unwieldy, but with the amount of adjustments and iterations we make, I feel like it would be helpful to a lot of people to be able to say "hmmm, I think I need more apple in this mix," and be able to slide apple up a little bit and the caramel and cream drop at the correct ratios

Similar to the way that visual equalizers will automatically adjust the levels surrounding the one you are changing

I wish I had android right about now. All the ones for iOS got banned or something

They're awful. Ejuice calc does nothing but crash on me in the middle of recipes. Un-saved recipes, no less.

I like it but I'd like it more if you had a Max VG option (instead of only ratios, as-is I need to subtract the percentage of my PG flavoring from 100 and enter it as the target VG) and if the recipe name was more elegantly displayed next with star icons the rating instead of "X Stars". Still, awesome app dude, keep up the good work.

Thanks for the feedback... good suggestions. I agree that the list screens are visually kind of weak. I'll play around with that and see what I come up with. I'll have to think about the max VG idea... right now the PG and VG auto-adjust when the other is changed. I do need to add some error alerts when an unworkable recipe is entered also.

Glad to help, I'm definitely going to start using it right away but I'm excited for some updates!

Installing now. I'll post back after I play with it.

  • alright it looks really good. Smooth operations. I like it a lot. Two things though, it crashed while I was playing with the ohms calculator. Second, I mix by weight, I didn't see where I could do that. Maybe I missed it (im at work).

All in all, I really like it. Good work.

Thanks much for the feedback... I'm glad you like it. I was shooting for simple and uncluttered functionality. It does worry me the ohms calc crashed... I'll try to reproduce that and fix. I am working on adding a weight calculation option and hope to have it released in a week or so... I may start mixing by weight myself..

Thanks everyone for the great feedback/comments/suggestions... I've got a nice to-do list for the next update. I hope to get that out in the next week or so. The formulas/programming are the easy part... it's the user interface that gets tricky. As the saying goes: "Beauty is in the UI of the beholder".

I love it so far. What would be awesome is if there was a way to copy a recipe to start a revision list. Say I to adjust some things in recipe v1 to make a v2, and save the v2 separately without having to overwrite the v1 to save it. Like a Save As option to leave the original but start a new file for the revision. Sorry if that rambled, I lack sufficient caffeine.
