Trying to get the right yogurt flavor...
submitted over 10 years ago by cloudrazer

I tried to make something close to my favorite juice, the upside by schwartz. It's a yogurt and strawberry juice, so i bought strawberry ripe from tfa, and yogurt from a vendor from my country. Problem is, this yogurt tastes nothing like the one in the upside. This one is very acidic, almost smells like spoiled milk even. What do you guys use to get a sweet and smooth yogurt flavor?

butyric acid is your best friend here

isn't that what gives the yogurt the acidic flavor i don't like? I'm trying to get a smooth and sweet yogurt, like in the upside (don't know if you tried it)

yessir. Time to find out a possible yogurt base low in butyric acid rather than a "greek yogurt" style which is higher in b.a.

This is what I use in two yogurt recipes:

3% not-yogurt flavor of your choice 3% FLV Vanilla Custard 1.5% FLV Coconut .5% TFA Sweet Cream

It'll take a few days for the coconut and sweet cream to balance out with the custard and make it one smooth yogurt flavor

Looks good! FLV is flavourart?

Nah a company called Flavorah. Their flavors are pretty kickass, search the name in this sub and get ready to read a ton of flavor reviews

This taste like Schwartz to me. Ive been vaping this for about 2 weeks now. I love it. Great shake and vape!

(EM) Sweetner- 1%

(TFA) Sweet and Tart- 2%

Strawberry (Ripe) (TFA) - 5%

Sweet Strawberry (CAP) - 5%

Yogurt (FW) - 8%

EM stands for ethyl malthol right? Isn't it too strong at 21% flavouring? I never go above 10%, so i guess i could cut all of your percentages by half and be good

There is no real "rule" as far as flavor percentages go... Some companies have stronger flavors than others, and then certain flavors within certain companies can be stronger/weaker than their other flavors. None of the flavors that juice_junkie linked are particularly strong flavors, and should be just fine at those percentages. Had he linked some FLV or FA flavors, you would likely be right that you wouldn't want to go nearly that high... but as is, I wouldn't cut the percentages by more than a percent or two if I were to recreate that recipe.

Just mixed this up. It's excellent!

Thanks for posting the recipe!

Just don't let it steep! When it steeps it taste like rotten yogurt! I think the yogurt % is too high, but as a shake and vape it taste excellent for about a week. Just a warning to you!

Probably because of the sweet and tart which contains acidic compounds that break down the other flavors.

What manufacturer/brand yogurt flavor did you use, so we can rule that out? I've heard good things about FA yogurt. TFA and FW...not so good.

I wouldn't rule out FW Yogurt entirely; several people agree that it is actually a very usable yogurt flavor.

I for one absolutely love FW yogurt. As packed with diacetyl as it may be, it's still delicious. I Mix it with inawera raspberry and a bit of FA whipped cream. To die for. I have FA yogurt but haven't given it a shot yet, it smells "heavier" when compared to FW, if that makes any sense.

Oh, that sounds awesome, and I've got all three! Would you mind sharing your percentages? I haven't had much luck with the inw raspberry yet, it seems pretty powerful!

Depends how you feel about diacetyl.

is it known to have diacetyl?

1 points

by skiddlzninjaover 10 years agoFrugivore

If it's delicious AND creamy, yes. This is the rule of thumb with diacetyl; like trans fats, it makes everything taste great

by tet5uoover 10 years ago

Yes, that's why it's not in their vaping flavorings, but the culinary/baking ones.

it's a national brand from my country, it isn't really known out there... it's called mr.motard. The FA one is supposed to be more sweet?

Could it be that you are adding too much yogurt flavor?

by cloudrazerover 10 years ago

first i tried it with 5% strawberry 5% yogurt and it was too acidic, so i tried 2% yogurt and 8%strawberry. Now it's "vapable", but i still don't like that acidic taste, i'm looking for a more creamy and sweet one

I'm telling you try adding the sweet tart. You will love it :)

I have FA Yogurt and Upside by Schwartz and i'm 99% sure that's what they use.

I have 3 different swartz (upside, downside and the peanut butter one) sitting here too. And to me my recipe taste pretty spot on as a shake and vape. Its never had the chance to steep more then a few days. Give it a try and see what you think. I think the sweet tart is what really brings it out. I just made another 30 ml. I've already gone through a few. I like fresh juice other wise I'd make more than a 30 ml.

Damn, I was just about to mix up your posted recipe, but minus the Sweet and Tart as that's the only flavor I'm missing. After reading this, I'll probably hold off until I can pick some up. :(

  1. Concentrated yogurt smells like spoiled milk. Tastes yummy though.

  2. Since FA Yogurt = Diacetyl, try this if you have the ingredients:

  • 6.5% FW Yogurt (hopefully the one you have)
  • 3% FA Fresh Cream
  • 2% TPA Sweet Cream

thanks for the recipe ! i don't have those concentrates atm but i'm going to order them
