Keep Nittany in your thoughts.
submitted over 10 years ago by nmsmith89

This doesn't have anything to do with ejuice but I spend a lot of time on here so I thought I would share something devastating that just happened.

I have a cat named Nittany and I love him more than anything in the world. My bathroom is being renovated and earlier tonight a big ceramic sink fell on my cat Nittany. As soon as it happened I scooped him up and drove him as fast as I could to the emergency vet. There was a lot of blood and I'm really shaken up. He was hurt really bad and is on overnight care until the surgeons can take a look at him tomorrow morning. I hope that anyone else who has a pet that they love keeps Nittany in their thoughts so he can make it through the night and recover. Thank you.

Edit: This is a wonderful picture of him taken by my girlfriend (http://i.imgur.com/YWIbJrb.jpg) I'll update this as soon as I found out what the surgeons say in the morning

UPDATE (5/7)

Nittany went into surgery this morning. The ligaments and tendons in one of his legs were completely severed but the surgeons said it was a clean cut so they were able to reattach them without any trouble. He is in recovery now and might even be able to come home tomorrow! I don't know all the details yet but he will be in a splint sort of thing for about 4 weeks and with a little bit of luck he can make a mostly full recovery. I also wanted to thank everyone here for being so compassionate and caring, also for keeping him in his thoughts and prayers. You all also helped me get through such a devastating period and I'm really grateful that there are such wonderful people here. When he comes home I'll snap a picture for everyone to see. Thanks!

I will beat up every sink I see in honor of Nittany. But seriously, I hope everything goes well.

Lol I'm sure he would like that. We have another cat that saw the whole thing and she won't stop hiding now.

Sorry to hear that, hope he gets better! Pets are awesome, my two cats sleep literally on top of me at night on my head and whatnot, Nittany will be in my prayers.

I've always been an animal lover and I've always had at least one dog and sometimes a cat. My heart breaks for you. I hope all turns out well in the end.

We just had a litter of puppies about a week ago. One of the puppies didn't make it shortly after the birth because the mom pulled on the umbilical cord too hard and well, it wasn't a pretty sight. Rushed it to the emergency vet and ended up being euthanized because it was just too injured to survive.

It's tough man, any harm coming to our loved ones, obviously including our pets. They're family from moment they come into your home.

I wish your Nittany luck with the healing and have every bit of prayers headed your way. Just know that, religious or not, it is out of your hands and in God's hands now, and what happens will happen and that is just part of life.

Thank you and the vet said the same thing. She said even if they end up having to amputate that cats bounce back extremely well.

Please keep us posted. I'm not really a fan of cats but have had some cool ass cats in my life. However, I am a pet person and I feel your pain. Nittany is in our prayers.

Dag wishes her a speedy recovery. I have had his ass in the vet so many times now at a year and a half. Intestinal parasites, ripped his dew claw clean off, stabbed a drill bit into his leg, and then some. Typical boy.

Thanks! I'm adding an update as we speak. You have an adorable dog. Nittany has gotten into is fair share of trouble too although nothing this scary.

Looks a lot like my cat, glad he's going to be okay, losing pets to anything but natural causes sucks.

That's terrifying, though I'm so glad to hear that he's going to pull through so (relatively) well!!

Yeah it was horrible. Hes like part of the family and at the vet when it first happened my whole family, myself included, were just balling our eyes out. And when I drove him the the emergency vet I was doing like 90 the whole way and honking cars out of the way.

I've made two such journeys to the Veterinary E.R.: one for our family cat after we discovered that he had been shot in the hip with a fucking pellet gun (if I ever find out who was responsible for that, I fear for the safety of the PoS and my own freedom afterwards), and one for my 12 year old healer/shepherd mix. Both times it was around 2 in the morning and I was just terrified. It's such a horrible, powerless feeling when your furry friends are in pain and disoriented :(
