TFA French Vanilla Deluxe

Hey folks,

I've done my usual search of the DIY reddit and would still like to pick your brains.

TFA French Vanilla Deluxe, or so I've heard, is a delicious, diketone-rich vanilla, as are all of my favorite flavors =]. Anyways, I haven't had a chance to experiment with it since it arrived over a month ago. Super busy with 2 stepsons, a wife, and full time job - sports, birthdays, get togethers, grocery stores, etc. etc. etc.

My favorite recipes are all desserts - TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream / Vanilla Custard CAP v1 based. With that in mind, can you use TFA French vanilla Deluxe as a primary base ingredient or is it more like Capellas where it's a good additive but not so much as a powerhouse?

If you have any example recipes with TFA French Vanilla Deluxe in it, I would be very very excited to try them! I am sorry for coming at you with the usual FEED ME FREE IDEAS but I am a huge fan of the recipes I've been able to obtain from here and have been saving a huge amount of money in the process. There's no way my wife and I could afford to vape with the cost of premium e-liquid prices!

I vape it as a standalone. It's a nice rich vanilla. Not as creamy as VBIC.

At what percent? Does it need custard lvl steeping

Since anytime I recommend a percentage someone comes along and calls it "ridiculous", I don't bother anymore. Definitely best after a long age, like 4 weeks (at the risk of sounding ridiculous).

I hear you sir. I agree that a lot of custards and vanillas don't start to be good until AT LEAST a month has passed. I've never been patient enough to wait longer but I'm sure it'd only help.

if you have to age that for 4 weeks then you are using a ridiculous amount of flavoring .

It's a great vanilla flavor but I've never used it by itself. Sort of reminds me of Vanilla Bourbon. I use it at 3 - 5% as an enhancer, usually in tandem with VBIC or Custard.

Can I have an example? IE:

6% VBIC 3.5% FVD

I still am unsure about TFA Vanilla Custard.

I use it in a lot of recipes but not as a single flavor, more as a enhancer. Goes really well with nutty or boozey flavors. I usually use it between 2-6%.

I use it to enhance other vanillas and creams, like VBIC, Vanilla cupcake, bavarian cream, cheesecake, cream cheese icing, etc. I usually only add 3-4% because I'm mixing it with other vanillas/creams.

I've never vaped it by itself, but since I just got a 4oz bottle, I might as well try it.

I have a TFA Flavor labeled "French Vanilla Cream" is that the same one?

EDIT just checked their site and it looks like mine is the one without the diketones. It's actually tasty if used at 4% or below.

I use that one as well, 3% with FA Marshmallow at 2% -- I use it as the vanilla cream base with fruit flavors.
