mixing for a tank after dripping for a year
submitted over 10 years ago by vigg-o-rama

Guys,

A little background first, I work from home.. so lucky me, I get to drip all day long. I have pretty much given away all of my beginner kit, and for the past year-ish have been fully mech with drippers. I am also a flavor junkie now that my senses of smell and taste work again :). this works great for me, and I dont even want to smoke again. IF I were to quit vaping, I would be more tempted to vape than to smoke.

ok, so.. I just found out I have a business trip coming up in June. this is going to really upend my routine. I will be going to a country where Vape is legal, but its really looked down on. When I went last year, they said things like "but our cigs are organic, and we know what goes in to them, you have some chemicals that we dont know" (in their best broken euro english).

so, its back to a more stealthy vape.. cig-a-like or an ego with a little clearomiser.. not my first choice by any stretch, but keeps the strange looks to a minimum when not blowing big clouds.

Last week, i dumped some of my ADV into a left over tank, and fired it up on an MVP, and was very disgusted. NOT EVEN CLOSE BUB. it was pretty bland and falvorless, and i swear i tasted the previous liquid from that tank that must have seeped into the silicon seals (even tho i washed it all pretty well) so I need to learn to adjust my mix, and this is where I need your helps :)

generally speaking, i mix 50/50, 2mg/ml, and my ADV is 15% total flavor, 5% berries, 5%vanillin, 5% Bavarian Cream... works for me, dont judge.. (As an example, i have other mixes i like, and will adjust them accordingly based on feedback here)

so, should i up the PG to 60 or 70%? will it really make that much difference? I dont want to really increase the flavor percentages much, its working for me as is, but do you think a few % bump for the flavors will make much diff?

I will likely need to up the nic to not go into fits, but as i do that, its going to kill the taste for me, i find at 6% its ok, but anything more and i just get a numb tounge from the nic, so I'll go with 6% max.

In my experience, the higher wattage really helps to release the flavors, will one of these new subohm type tanks help if i can get the wattage up? I suppose I could do one on a mech, but trying to avoid taking batteries, charger, ohm meter, etc. with me.. so will be looking into an ileaf, or some other small form factor with at least 30w capabilities, but I am wondering if these new subohm tanks can handle that kind of wattage?

yeah, Im getting old, and not keeping up with the trends, and yes a lot of this should be asked over at /r/electronic_cigarette, but its really more about getting the mix right.. the hardware may help thats why i ask.

thanks in advance for any tips on this you can give me. i really dont want to smoke their supposed organic cigs for a week!

Ego One all day long. Tank with dripper performance, stealthy small, pass thru and the bigger one has an all day 2200mah battery while still being stealthy small. I use a Sig 150 and even I've thought about getting one. .

THIS! Ego one is the one of the best set up for its size! Or A 20W- 30W istick with a lemo drop is a really small set up as well

My two cents, just grab a sub ohm tank so you're not dripping all the time, your clouds will be a little smaller and it'll require far fewer adjustments than what you may need otherwise. Personally I'm in love with the Herakles, like you I dripped for the last year working primarily from home and in the car. Now I'm in an office all day so wanted something a bit simpler and the Herakles w/ 0.2 ohm coils @ 65 on my siglei 150 is just perfection.

The main difference being, I dripped max VG, not 50/50, I simply changed to run a 20/80 blend for most of my stuff in the tank and it works just fine. Not sure how I would adjust your current mix to make it more flavor full in a tank, it may simply not be a 'tankable' juice.

thanks man, i value your opinion. Back to an office huh? thats a surprise..

ok, ill pick up a RTA this week and start testing that out... likely can just keep using the mech with the right tank. and yeah, i feel you on the "not a tankable juice" You probably dont remember, but about a year ago, we had a conversation about "non drippable juices" There is something in the Capella custards that just absolutely makes me wanna puke when its in a dripper, and not when its a cheapy clearomiser tank at low wattage. I'm fully aware the reverse can be true as well. on the upside, this means I can use all of those et3rn1ty mixes I made that I just cannot drip.

Haha yeah def. And yup, back to an office for me (at least for 25-30 hours a week or so). Still doing sales, just selling to a different market where there's a lot more behind the scenes stuff going on instead of just pounding pavement and phones.

I like /u/badgerfacedcat's idea about telling them to fuck off, but consider a Lemo Drop. I build a 26 gauge 7 or so wrap macro coil on it and vape at 20-25 watts. Smaller form factor, excellent flavor. At 50/50 you won't have any problems stealth vaping. I do 30PG/70VG but add 1mL of distilled water per 30mL of liquid.

The Subtank Mini is another good option.

Stealth vaping I use spinner 2 with mt3 coil. I rebuild the micro coil with 28g wire, 7 wraps, come to about .92ohms. Good flavor. More clouds than the factory but not so much that it looks a lot more than usual e cig.

Fits in pocket, 1650mah so it lasts most of my day if I'm out and about.

I use 40pg 60vg in it, about 12% flavor. I do double/triple the nicotine content when I'm not using a dripper.

I drip 3 mg but put 6mg - 9mg in my tanks

I ended up at my local shop last night, and picked up an IPV mini (v1) and a Kanger Subtank.

OMG, what is this magic???

I skipped right over the OCC heads, and went to the RTA head, and the stock coil.. I really cannot taste much difference between my mech with a dripper and this setup. Being as i typically made .5ohm coils to begin with, and thats the lower limit on the IPV, I am good. As a .5ohm coil on a mech is right under 30w at 4.2v, and drops to around 25ish at 3.8, again, I am right in side the limits on this setup, but I dont ever really go any lower or hotter, so its just right, and was very reasonbly priced.

Now I've got figure out what the hell this magic is in this box... How can I get the same warm tasty vape from 5.0watts as from 25.0watts? I havent had time to wrap my head around this yet.. anyone that has some links about how to explain how a box mod works like this, please! do tell... I started iwth my dripper on the IPV last night, and was ranging between 5-30w to see what the deal is, and basically the flavor changes a bit based on heat (i get the bavarian cream more at different watts than others). otherwise, I dont see why I wouldnt just set it at 5w and not blow thru 4-6 batteries in a day..

I will thanks. now that i have ventured out of the Mech/dripper cave, I think I will be trying a few regulated mods and many RTAs..

Billow works great on a mech too at like .6. And can accommodate max VG juice with ease.
