I recently discovered a seldom-used gem in the TFA inventory. A flavor called Quince. Having never tried the fruit itself, I cannot testify to whether or not it is an accurate representation, however, I can tell you that if you love your fruit flavors, this needs to be in your collection. For those on the fence about this unknown flavor, I mixed a batch at 8%(10% initially, but it was too strong) and will share my flavor notes. Max VG, .3ohm@80w on a plumeveil v1
Scent: This flavor out of the bottle smells strongly like dragonfruit and tutti-fruiti. Underneath those scents, I pick up a tart green apple and maybe some starfruit?
Flavor: Strong Tutti-Fruiti flavor on inhale, with a pleasant tart flavor playing on the sides of my tongue. A hint of pinepple and surprising bright green granny-smith apple on the back of the tongue. On exhale, the first flavor you notice is dragonfruit, or a weak pineapple, depending on your tastebuds. Next flavor, or sensation I should say, is a very sweet spice(this is the part that becomes overpowering at 10%) playing in the back of my throat, hovering around my soft-palate. Almost creeping forward into my tonsil area. This is the same sweet spice that comes from fresh acidic fruit like kiwi or pineapple. As the exhale continues, the sweet-spice compounds on itself, resulting in a slightly-stronger sensation at the end of the exhale. This is the sensation that really made me believe I was on to something when I tasted my first 'Nana Cream clone with quince
Throat hit: The flavor itself provides very little conventional throat hit. The majority of throat hit comes from the spicy sensation I mentioned in my flavor breakdown. Kinda the same high-throat/soft palate sensation you get from TFA pear, now that I think about it.
All-in-all, I hope this in-depth breakdown has helped at least a couple of you, as this subreddit has given me more than I could ever give back. For those of you who plan on ordering this flavor, I look forward to seeing and trying all of your wonderful recipes in due time :D Have a wonderful day everyone!
Quince as a fruit is kinda popular where I come from. Especially as a conserve. I think it would go very well combined with cinnamon, custard, or banana flavors.
God! How come I've never remembered this "fruit"?
In Portugal it's called a "Marmelo" and usually we do a jelly with it, since the "fruit" itself it's really harsh and not that good to eat alone.
With that being said, I'm almost certain that using the Quince concentrate, mixed with some Vanilla Custard and a Sweetener it will make a juice that's close to the jelly we usually eat here.
EDIT: Fun fact. In Portugal the word "Marmelo" (in English Quince) beside being used to define the fruit, it's also used to call someone an idiot (you're a marmelo) and in it's plural it's used to describe boobs (nice marmelos you got there). Portuguese language it's awesome :) Also you could use the plural to describe a bunch of idiots (what a bunch of marmelos). Tricky language.
Looking at the actual fruit I saw its used to enhance Apple And Apple pie. Might be worth trying with an Apple pie recipe too.
Looks like I am ordering this tonight! Thanks for the review. Wish I had your palate! I can't taste anything I swear, its a wonder how I ever manage to make something halfway decent.
haha, as long as you have a general understanding of how flavors go together, you can make great ejuice! keep trying to reffine your palate by taste testing everything, and really foccus on all areas of your tongue and throat. It can be learned my friend :D
Have you ever tried unicorn milk? If so do you think its in there? Sounds like exactly what im missing from my recipe
no, unicorn milk doesn't have that strong tart taste that quince brings. try adding like a decimal of a percecntage of raspberry or blueberry if your unicorn milk is missing something. just a suggestion.
