Update lists for % on flavors?
submitted over 10 years ago by lvanDrago

Can we please do an update on the flavor % for TFA, CAP and so on. It's just crazy that the only list that is up has insanely high % like 15% Blackberry. I use barely 7% and it's still too high. Should the list be seperated with two percentages one for stand alone and one for mixed in with flavor guestimate. So if I use Blackberry TFA at 5% stand alone, but when I mix it with other flavors, I want it at like 2-3%. Not to mention that we want people who add these % tell us what method they use. Volume or weight. Do they use 1ml=1g or the actual weight of the liquid? What Vp/PG ratio? This would be more accurate. Good idea, but I don't know how to execute it.

Here are two other lists. Click company names to switch. Perhaps these should be linked somewhere here?

Hold on a second... TFA caramel at 18 % 0.o

Hazelnut at 10?!

RIPE BANANA AT 15?!!

I'm not so sure about all that.

The percentages most people use are incredibly over-mixed and it's teaching people bad habits. I just shake my head when people recommend such high percentages. They've apparently smoked far too long, because it seems they can't taste anything unless it's mixed at ridiculous proportions.

Yep, those sound high to me as well, lol. Maybe someone will come in with another source.

Yeah, something like this. But I want to make a new one. With people saying good in tank too strong in dripper

I think it's a great idea! I posted those for more data points towards a new reddit list, not as a solution.

Honestly, even with those bookmarked, what I actually do when thinking about a recipe is look for other recipes that use the flavor similarly, so if I wanted blueberry pancakes, I'd look at blueberry in muffin recipes, rather than a list, for instance. I've linked those more than I've looked at them.

"Perfumer's Apprentice" is TPA. Both of those links open on TPA.

[Edit: The Perfumer's Apprentice and The Flavor Apprentice are the same company.]

Yes, probably. I hope people are seeing there are two lists linked there. One may be a fork of the other already.

I do it at 15% and find it tasty. Who's standard of percentages should the list be modified for?

Do you mix by drop, weight or volume?

Percentage is also dependent on the device used to some degree. Flavoring percentages that are perfect for an RDA will be weak in a tank or even moreso in a clearo.

Agreed, I think the reason the percentages are so high in those lists are because they're from when clearos were the more popular attys.

Thanks for bringing this up! I wanted to make a cupcake flavor with TFA Vanilla Cupcake and the 20% recommended percentage is flat out ridiculous and tastes like play dough / the smell of bathroom freshener. 7% is the way to go (for my tastes).

I really appreciate everyone who mods this sub and contributes to it in positive ways, thank you all so much

I'd stick to e-liquid-recipe's flavor db and check out the average/minimum/max % for what you're looking to use.

its too unorganized. i mean 19517 total flavors? many are duplicates and many are combinations. some dont have near enough recipes of use and only limited to the recipes used at e-liquid.

Hey guys. As a new member of the mixing community and frequent visitor here i know i should start low and progress from there for the best results. A lot of people here though looking through that information are looking for the "best" starting point, i would think. Wouldn't we want that information at least divided into min/max suggestions? Especially for mixed recipes?

yeah, i have to use the search function here a lot when i am using a new flavor or having issues with a flavor to see what others have had success with. i had sent a PM to a mod once about making it a Wiki with all the information organized.
