Best flavors that are used in a lot of recipes?
submitted over 10 years ago by mpkid911

Im pretty new to DIY and im been searching around here and saw the top ten juices for your first order. But i was wondering if there was possibly a list or if anyone knew of another list of most often used flavors. honestly im mostly going to be making desert types, and want to purchase some flavors that im going to be using in quite a bit of recipes, any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I gotta give some advice. Don't stock up all on accentuates on your first go. I had all these supporting flavors when I first ordered and couldn't make anything. I recommend finding a well known great recipe and getting all those ingredients then keep doing that until you have a huge arsenal. Before u know it you'll have the supporting flavors and a bunch of main flavors in your stock.

About a year ago I had the same idea you have. Since it seemed mostly TFA was being used at the time, I gathered every TFA recipe I could find and started counting the recipes containing each and every TFA flavor. I did this for almost two months.

What this showed me is that it's not a good way to make your first flavoring order. Around 400 or 500 recipes and the top ten most frequently used flavors couldn't make any of the recipes. (No single flavor recipes.) I could tell you the eight flavors I've used often enough to justify buying 120ml bottles of and you could make one recipe with them if you add or skip the citric acid.

I eventually just found some recipes that I wanted to try and bought the flavorings for those. I think my first order contained 68 flavorings. (Resist the urge to buy flavorings just because 'oooh. That sounds good.' They wind up mostly unused.) Almost 200 flavorings now and I still make regular purchases because I find a recipe I want to try and am missing 1 or 2 flavorings. Every. single. time.

My advice is to just find some recipes to things you know you like or something close. There will probably be overlap in the flavorings used. Buy those flavorings. Don't worry about buying more later because, if you stick with DIY, you will be buying more and 8 or 10ml samples are pretty cheap and normally last awhile. I think it's more important to have fun DIYing instead of worrying about specifics.

The top 10 flavor list came from that previous post. Read the comments there, that should help you out.

Fantastic list of desert flavors! If I were to expand it a bit, I would also include some key fruits that are also useful in a lot of desert recipes:

  • Strawberry (Ripe) TFA
  • Sweet Strawberry CAP
  • Dragonfruit TFA
  • Lemon Sicily FA
  • Lime Tahiti Cold Pressed FA
  • Sweet Tangerine CAP
  • Raspberry INW
  • Fuji Apple FA

Or he could read the fucking sidebar like I was told to do. What makes him so special that he gets responses?

Why are you posting here? You should be reading the sidebar

i think the ppl that call out sidebar all the time are losers. there r new or even veteran people in here all the time that will give new different opinions on subjects when they see it, thus creating a bigger database of information for other people that decide to use the search feature. plus people learn new things as time goes on. but i can understand a little frustration on simple noob questions like what ingredients do i need for ejuice and such but its easy to ignore those questions

Caramel for me personally. I could probably add 2 or 3% caramel to anything I mix and think it was an improvement :)

What you're asking is a very personalized thing though... It will be different for different people. Very different for some even.

I am just winding you up. I would honestly rather vape AP/Acetoin than the VOMIT that is BA.

You are going to want to order dragonfruit for sure. Amazing by itself, even better in a strawberry cream

It is in a lot of flavors but it can be over powering.

Also personally I cannot stand bavarian cream, it has some sort of layer in it that coats the mouth at least imo.
