Throat feeling tight
submitted over 10 years ago by LeManu

Hi Everyone,

I made my 2 first liquid last week from supply I received from ecig express. I try to make a Placid and a Catherine the grape clones. At first everything went fine, tasty and easy, but yesterday I had hard time breathing (throat feeling tight) after vaping one of them. I switch to a commercial liquid and gone were my problem. What could have happen? Some kind of contamination? I did them only with VG and flavors, as most are my commercial eliquid have always been (max or pure VG).

Throat tightening sounds like an allergic reaction. You might try vaping your new flavors individually to figure out what you are having the reaction to.

That make a lot of sense. I'll mix all 5 flavors alone and see the result. Thanks.

Strangely, I sometimes have the same issue but with MBV juice. Haven't tried too many other brands so maybe it's a general issue for me. And that's with 50/50 pg/vg

VG isn't something people are allergic to usually (I have only heard 1 or 2 people make the claim) so it may be something in the flavors. Your nic may also be pg based, or it may just be an issue of using too much nicotine. Be careful trying to figure it out, and good luck.

Which one were you vaping? And what flavors were in it? If the other DIY ejuice vapes fine, it's [most likely] a reaction to a specific flavor.

Placid, with:

Honeysuckle (TPA) Lemon (TPA) Lime Tahiti Cold Pressed (FA) Pear (TPA) Strawberry (TPA)

I'll mix them separatly and see the result when I vape them.

My other mix is perfectly fine, and really good :-)

It could be the lemon and/or lime...citrus tends to be somewhat rough on my throat at first, but aging helps to a degree. But if it truly is an allergic reaction- which is quite possible- no amount of aging will help. Good luck and be safe!

It could actually be the nicotine. Commercial liquids will have aged somewhat significantly more than any fresh DIY juice; thus its potency will be more noticeable, I immediately switched from 6% to 3% by doubling down all my mixes when this happened to me.
