The "Correct" proportion of TFA Caramel Cappuccino is about 2 drops/30ml, or Around 0.2%. Any Other Non-Tobacco Flavors That are This Strong?
submitted over 10 years ago by MineDoggerMixologist

Becoming more interested in lowering flavor % added to my DIY, less flavoring means less odd chemicals, sweeteners etc. cleaner lungs and longer coil life so I'm looking for good flavors that require less than 3% total flavor % to get a decent flavor profile. Kind of tired of using stuff at 10%+ when I know there are flavors that will vape cleaner and cheaper. Any good knowledge?

TFA Ripe Banana. Acid Banana. So strong they put it in PET plastic bottles. So strong, it eats certain plastics and will trash a syringe in the blink of an eye. It's like Banana bursts into the room, kicks you to the floor, takes your virginity, kicks you out of your own house and doesn't call the next day. I bought glass syringes specifically for this flavor and any juice made with it has to be stored at least 30 feet away from other juices or they'll all taste like Banana. Excellent flavor, would recommend, A+++

Lol, big props to TFA Ripe Banana for being the destroyer of plastics, but that's the kind of thing I want to avoid. I don't know if its the flavor molecules or that they use a particular solvent, (triecytin and triethyl citrate I think are a couple of the culprits that de-plasticize and dissolve PE and PC,) but while whatever it is may not be directly harmful, it could potentially release harmful byproducts from any tank/bottle material that it contacts. I don't like banana flavor anyway. I keep hearing about all these great banana juices and feel like I'm missing out, but you know, the whole not liking banana flavor thing keeps me from trying it.

TFA Waffle came in the same type of bottle. I'd recommend it but I'm afraid to open it.

Keep in mind that less % of flavoring doesn't necessarily have to mean less odd chemicals. These flavors might simply be less diluted.

Very true regarding the flavor molecules themselves, but I'm also concerned about the solvents they use like PGA, triecytin, triethyl citrate, sweeteners, etc. some of which can dissolve PC tanks. I figure less dilutents=less uncertain ingredients.

It's not just the dilutions though. Sometimes it's the flavour molecule itself that's the issue. As mentioned, TFA Banana Ripe is a prime example. I believe it's the "clove" component...

There's some Super Concentrates and Baker Flavors that Kelly sells at diy-ejuice.com that are crazy potent. I've only played with a few, but I don't know of anyone who's used them above 3%. Average 0.5-1% usually.

I was checking out the Baker flavours and concentrated flavours, do you know if they're any good?

Most FA flavors are good at 1-3%. Here's a 5% total flavoring juice I love that's nice and full flavored.

FA Butterscotch 3%

FA Irish Cream 2%

Shake well and enjoy the buttery creamy vape right away.

TFA Menthol (i guess you can argue that it is tobacco but not really, just commonly related to tobacco)

but seriously, good additive to anything you want to freshen up a bit, but talking about less than 3% LMAO if you did 3% TFA Menthol...you will freeze your freaking face off!!!!

Call me SubZero then, because 3% doesn't even phase me - it's nice; but then again I smoked camel crushes & crush bolds for 4 years - and SWEDEN if ya catch my drift c;

from a fresh batch of it? i find it weakens after just about 6 weeks. or very fast if you accidentally leave the cap off

1 points

by tranceinateover 10 years agoMixologist

It shouldn't weaken. It's a 10% solution of menthol crystals in PG.

Crystals don't evaporate like most aroma molecules do; if anything, it should become stronger as the PG evaporates out. When you boil salt-water, you end up with a pot of salt, yeah? Same here. It's easier to see in VG solutions of menthol.

My bottle is essentially exactly the same as the day I bought it 8 months ago.

TFA flavors aren't the strongest, in general; you may want to look at other company's concentrated flavors.

That said, from TFA, Cinnamon Spice. So good, SOOO strong. Adds a good cinnamon note around 0.025%, (one 'drop' for 20ml or so.) At one drop per 10ml, it's !Cinnamon!

FA Honey... This stuff is potent.. Used under 0.5% usually at max

Diluting it down to a 10% solution is an accepted way of using it too.

I originally made this trying come up with a dripper friendly cheesecake. I missed the mark a little, but it still came out very tasty.

NY Cheesecake (cap) 1.05%

Vanilla Custard V1 (cap) 0.25%

Graham Cracker (cap) 0.3%

Marshmallow (TFA) 0.25%

Sweet Cream (TFA) 0.15%

Cup of Joe (CAP) 1.5%

Nectarine (TFA) 3%

Cinnamon Danish Swirl V1 (CAP) 3%

With these flavors i never go over what ive posted. You might want to look into Medicine Flower extracts.

Haven't tried them yet, but I read quite a bit here about Medicine Flower. Might want to do a search and read up on them a bit. Quite expensive, though.

A lot of FA and FLV flavors work best in the 0.5-3% range, I've noticed. A good example from my experience is FA kiwi, FA blackcurrant, FA Fuji Apple, FLV Pink Guava, FLV Blueberry. I work usually with the fruitier flavor so I apologize for a lack of deserty-esque ones.

TFA Spearmint is quite good @1%. Next to cappuccino it is my most concentrated flavor, and is gin clear.

Most people do it wrong and the "recommended percentages" that you see floating around and offered by people are dead wrong.

You are definitely better off using quite small percentages and going from there. 10% is almost always way too high.

Over a 100 flavors and there are none that I would mix at 10% of a single flavor. I often don't go above 8% total (all combined flavors) these days for an RDA.

Try German flavors from vaperstek.com. their cheesecake is lemony, but everything they have, (I highly recommend their peach yogurt) is less than 10% and they're all wonderful on their own.

I have 5 natures flavors that are like that. 1 drop in a 10ml bottle will overpower anything else I try to mix with em.

Natures flavor white chocolate is the grossest flavoring I own though :) still trying to work up the nerve to try it again...

TFA Kona Coffee .. for single flavor black coffee I use 1 drop per 15 ml.. ends up being as strong as your average german grandmothers black sludge that she calls coffee.. I keep the 8ml vial in 5 layers of ziploc bags and can smell it from 5 feet away. I do not open the vial in an enclosed area. I wear gloves when dealing with this stuff. I keep the mixed bottle in a shelf in the garage so it does not stink up the house.

FA Bread crust is used with similar dilution...?
thinking it may be lower 1 drop per 30ml IIRC. Never used it myself but intend to try it sometime.
