I was thinking it'd be nice to compile a thread of lesser known/used flavors that really stand out to you. I'll start off:
Medicine Flower:
MF Caramel - this one has grown on me substantially. Definitely my favorite caramel. It is pretty subtle and can take a while to come through, but it is delicious. If you love caramel, I'd recommend for sure. And a drop or two in a cup off coffee is fantastic. Fyi: reported to contain diacetyl
MF Dark Chocolate - I posted my impressions on it not long ago; it is fantastic. Best chocolate I've tried hands down. Still trying to use it as a background note...it's just so good up front.
Silver Cloud Estates:
SC Snickerdoodle - TFA cin sugar cookie has nothing on this. A mixture of this and vanilla swirl has replaced my use of the sugar bear clone. Not exactly the same, but the cinnamon is well balanced and not harsh at all.
Faerie's Finest:
FF Caramel - this one is good, but not exactly caramel to me. It is stronger than most (all) other caramels, but it has more of a dulce de leche taste to it as opposed to straight caramel. It is a weird flavor, but I like it as a mixer at a very low percentage. For some reason it reminds me of some flavors in Alice in Vapeland juices.
I'd love to hear about any others that you guys have stumbled upon.
Forgot one:
Hangsen
HS Italian cream - I have really come to love this one. I use it in almost all my strawberry juices. Has a nice buttery cream flavor.
Edit: readability and D info and added one
FA Meringue - Not really "lesser known" these days but I think it has a lot more applications than people give it credit for. Amazing for any sugary cream flavor.
GF Strawberry Yogurt and Peach Yogurt - German Flavors from VaperTek. These two are amazing as single flavors. Spot on for Yoplait. So good.
MJ Cherry Limeade - Mama J's Flavors, made by someone from VU. The Cherry Limeade is an excellent mix, great as a standalone.
VPZ Pear Drops - UK based company called Vapor-Z. Good standalone flavor. Sugary pear candy.
TFA Sweet & Tart - I dunno about Sweet Tarts, but it tastes identical to Smarties. Great with some sweetener and some fruit. Grape Candy works well.
CAP Graham Cracker - Way closer to an actual graham cracker than TFA's and yet nobody seems to use it.
So TFA Sweet and Tart is a flavouring not an additive? I always assumed it was a mix of a sweetner and acid.
I had always thought the same as well (because LA sells Tart + Sour which is malic+citric acid) but no, turns out its a Sweet Tart flavor. Tastes almost exactly like Smarties though - very "powdery candy" type flavor. I love it.
Tamarind - As far as I know, Nude Nicotine is the only one that carries it. It's delicious. It has a fruity, sweet but tangy flavor to it. Fantastic as a single flavor. It makes a good ADV at 4-5% flavoring.
Hangsen's Apple Mix. it's like a spiced apple cider.
Tobacco Express's Furongwang. a spicy, chocolately, plum tobacco. (ECX doesn't appear to carry this anymore :\ )
CAP French toast.
It puts a lovely almost burnt edge on an RY4 and works great with a little Hazelnut in there too.
I know FlavorWest is usually avoided but their cinnamon red hots flavor is dead on. Mixed with their Extreme Ice flavor (1.5ml of each to a 30ml bottle) creates a wonderful big red gum flavor.
Other than those, a few from SVA (mainly seem to be found on eBay?) have been quite amazing though they may just be rebottle flavorings. German Chocolate Cake and Vanilla Bean Ice cream are quite amazing flavors.
Flavor West is far from my favorite vendor, but they do have some stand-out flavors. A fellow redditer turned me on to FW Hazelnut. I bought a 10ml bottle, tried it, and then bought 3 more. It is a delicious, nutty, buttery, fragrant flavor that I use all the time now. It differs greatly from most hazelnuts I've tried as they tend to be closer to an authentic, raw hazelnut taste. I don't know what kind of hazelnut FW is going for, but it is addicting whatever it is.
Their hazelnut is by far the best I've ran across. A great standout flavor for sure. Their yellowcake is pretty good too.
Their green apple is great too IMO - good balance between a realistic flavour and a candy type flavour. Just got some FW yellow cake, that shit smells amazing but I haven't vaped it yet.
TFA Cinnamon Spice (since someone already plugged my other secret ingredient, lol.)
I like cinnamon, but slowly grew to hate the "Cinnamon Roll" flavor that seems to be in everything. TFA Cinnamon Spice tastes like freshly ground cinnamon sprinkled in your vapor. Warning: It's absurdly strong! If you want custard with cinnamon, you're looking at 0.025% (one 'drop' for 20ml or so.) A Wizard Lab or TFA small sample vial will last a good while for most people.
Holy shitbags, 15ml of Medicine Flower is $22.00?! Or am I missing something?
Edit: Oh right. Cigar and Cherry Cigar by Flavors Express (found at ecigexpress or vaping zone). Rich, sweet tobaccos and the best cherry cigar ever made, if you're into that kind of thing.
It is expensive, but definitely worth it imo. They are super concentrated. I use <1% per flavor in most recipes that I've used them in. Also, /u/abdada sells MF dilutions in VG for cheap. That's how I got into them. I liked them so much that I ended up ordering direct from MF.
