Version 1.0 is coming soon! 0.9.5.7 new version is the most feature filled update of Vapor Lab to date. I have been using it exclusively to mix all my liquid and so far so good!
Features
-
Completely offline, all recipes are stored in a SQLite3 database on your hard drive
-
Spend less time setting up your calculator and more time mixing
-
Easily make concentrates of your flavors and generate recipes for using concentrates for super-fast flavor reproduction!
-
Save revisions of recipes while keeping originals
-
Mix by mL, Grams, or drops
-
No limit for number of flavors & components in recipe
-
779 pre-loaded flavors from TFA, Capella, Flavor West, and Flavour Art
When mixing with drops, the Drops per Ml dialog may not appear unless you uncheck, View->Show Drops and re-check the "Show Drops" option. This bug will be fixed very soon
Does the preloaded flavors come with accurate mg/ml data or are they set at the 1mg/ml standard?
I can't wait for a cross-compatible version, I hate having to use wine or worse... Windows... *snark
Thanks, I like to collect these calculators d:
how do you define costs for nicotine and VG/PG?
are you going to add inventory capabilities?
can you globally change the flavor percentage for recipe?
There is a form in the works for defining costs of those components. Inventory capabilities are definitely on the features list and in the works!
- can you globally change the flavor percentage for recipe?
I have not really thought about doing this, but I think it's a great idea for testing new recipes. Perhaps I will add an option to override the total flavorings percentage to a value of your choice. Does this sound like a decent implementation? I.e: if your recipe is comprised of 16% flavorings you can set it to 20% and it will adjust all the flavor concentrations accordingly.
Personally I find that many flavor components have a concentration sweet spot where that particular flavor tastes the best; any more and it becomes perfumey, any less and it can become odorous or soup-like.
exactly. i find when mixing many elements its more about their ratios than their absolute concentration level to total mix since some will amplify/negate each other with certain molecules, so its getting their balances in tact and then building from there the overall flavor level. i am guessing your concentrate make/from is similar? i havent tried that yet, only put one of my recipes in from another app.
the other thing with inventory would be adding distributor since i might get 8ml/$1.49 from wizard labs but then get 120ml/$7 from bull city. if one kept track of inventory it would be nice to put actual orders in and have it tally with what is in remaining and added. also date purchased and inventory use as well [as you make a recipe you hit a button and it deducts from the inventory]... and would deduct from oldest stock first.
also regarding flavor and component management, there is no notes section. would be nice to have suggested % as well as notes area for each flavor. another feature would be direct editing of the actual list. i dont know if its a database thing but some companies have the same name for flavors and would be nice to keep them as actual names and not have to amend something to the name that competes with another, maybe simply adding the ~~vendor~~ [which probably should be manufacturer and add vendor as sales source] manufacturer to the actual flavor name. While I am critiquing this section for future users, lose Flavor in the name... we all know its a flavor. so a name should probably read Apple [FA] for FlavorArt or Bavarian Cream [TFA] for The Flavor Apprentice.
otherwise nice app so far and a great start. looking forward to updates to it.
This is fantastic. Do you plan on adding Inawera, Hangsen, Flavorah, Medicine Flower, etc?
I don't see why not.. I will begin researching these companies
Also Flavor East. It may be better to have a form for the user to add flavors. Also, the flavor search is a little wonky. Having case-sensitive search and auto-capitalizing the first letter makes it impossible to wildcard search without knowing the first word. You could remove the case sensitivity by changing the search to look at lower(name) like '%lower(input)%'. Or just remove the auto-capitalization.
So far, I like it though. Going to tinker with it a lot over the next few weeks. Thanks for your work here.
Great work. Based on a couple minutes of tinkering I have a few ideas.
-
The Flavors and components window should list the both the flavor and manufacturer.
-
In the activator it would be great to sort by manufacturer then sort again by flavor.
-
I use my old ipad mini at my mixing station. Can the app output recipes as pdfs, txt files or even emails so I can transfer them over?
-
Could the app be utilized with the e-Liquid Calculator website?
Looks good, thanks for the software.
I like that it is simple but does everything it needs to.
The only issue I have is not having the vendor name with many of the flavors. I can easily edit in the vendor short code(FA, FW, TFA), but it does make the Vendor column redundant(maybe).
I think the addition of an Add button in addition of using the Enter key in the Flavor & Component section would be useful.
For those asking for the addition of specific gravity for flavors, I will have to disagree. Almost everyone uses 1.000 for flavor gravity. Using individual gravities just makes things harder and gains nothing. I would prefer the option to be able to set it 1.000 since all the recipe available are based off that.
