My FLV Tasting Notes: The Tobaccos
submitted over 10 years ago by [deleted]

A quick copy/paste from my tasting notes. I'll try to hit a flavor every day or so. Hope you find it useful.

Past Notes:

Virginia Tobacco

Pleasant tobacco fruitiness with obvious Indian spice (clove, cardamom, bay) undertones. Light caramel sweetness but not cloying or RY4-dirty. Hint of rose flavor (low notes) in the body but doesn’t persist. Reminds me of a good-quality cig-a-like flavor. Clean (again) without over-lingering perfuminess or odd fusels.

Versatile tobacco base though just fine as a solo flavor. Would make a really nice base for a Sher Bidi clove-style juice. Should play well with other flavors (fruit, nuts).

Where was this when I quit smoking? Really well made. Impressive.

Cured Tobacco

Wow. This tastes like walking into the tobacco shop with my dad in the late sixties. Sweet, nutty pipe tobacco. Acetyl (grapey) sweetness up front with pecan, cedar and earthy notes. Smooth, light smokiness on the exhale.

Terrific as is. Try as a base for traditional pipe blends. Strong. Start @ 2% maybe?

This one’s scary good. I might go back to vaping tobacco.

Suddenly I'm really happy FLV chipped the tobaccos into my order. Those just got bumped up on my mixing timetable a lot.

Thanks for chiming in on these flavors, I was really wondering what they had to offer as far as tobaccos. These just made my Missing Flavors list. Thanks!

4 - 5 % on everything unless noted. I'm dropping so precision is not guaranteed. You may be able to go lower on this one I think.

I still love to go into tobacco shops just for that smell.

Thanks for these excellent notes! I haven't wanted to try a tobacco flavor since I quit smoking--even FA and all the raved-about RY4s seem mostly like a waste of time to me--but your descriptions are downright inspiring.

Lucky for me, I am expecting my free tobacco samples from the awesome people at Flavorah any day now and will soon have both of these =)

How long did you give these to cure after mixing/before tasting?

None on the tasting. I did do a quick mix of 3% Cured Tobacco with 1% FA Black Perique and a few drops of FA Latakia which made for a nice (if a little sweet) Gitanes Brunes -ish blend.
