TFA Strawberry Ripe and Balsamic Vinegar
submitted over 10 years ago by Tabboo

Since I'm fairly new to DIY, not sure if this has been done before. My former culinary tours-of-duty taught me that the strange combination of strawberries and balsamic vinegar is amazingly good. So I thought...

  • Strawberry Ripe (TFA) 10%
  • Balsamic Vinegar 1 drop per 5ml

Shake. Vape. Puke.

..or let it sit 2 weeks and enjoy. Not sure what else can be added to this without destroying it. Maybe some mint...mixed at 70VG/30PG Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Balsamic Vinegar is absolutely amazing as a flavor enhancer.

But two weeks steep time is a bit too soon or you will definitely puke.

Great idea to use with Strawberry. I use it with Medicine Flower strawberry, blackberry, and elderberry for specifically the same purpose.

I would love a basil extract for this recipe of yours. Medicine Flower has a steam distilled essential oil ($22 for 10ml) but I'm sure it's not really flavor oriented.

Yeah I thought about basil, but didn't think an extract existed. You're probably right about the 2 weeks being too soon. I forgot the fact that I steep in a cabinet where my router sits at about 80 degrees F so that probably speeds it up faster than a normal 2 week sitting.

Yeah 80F definitely will take off some of the unsavory top note of balsamic.

They do have basil extracts (steam distilled) but they're either bonker expensive or they're really dilute and in ethyl alcohol.

You should really be a moderator on this sub.. I literally have learned a ridiculous amount just from random posts by you in every thread!

Ooh, a Thai Basil flavoring could be very nice!

Ripe Vapes has a Thai Coconut that I'd love to replicate. Tastes like lemongrass and basil and it's fantastic.

Zen Garden (FA) is close to basil

Sounds interesting. Maybe a non-sugared (white-maybe?) balsamic reduction might work too.

I suppose lemon mascarpone type flavor would be a bridge too far?

Balsamic vinegar is a good idea, but there's too much sugar in it to be able to vape it.

Seems like it would be too sugary, yeah. In the kitchen when we reduce it down it gets to be a syrupy consistency with all the sugar in there.

Its sugary indeed, but in such small quantities it didn't seem to wreck my coils.

I'm more worried about the possible carcinogens from burning sugars. But yeah, you wouldn't have a high % of this stuff in the juice, I don't want to be the guinea pig there, though :D
