Jimmy The Juice Man Shurb Clone WIP
submitted over 10 years ago by DuskMS

I bought my first bottle of this yesterday and knew right away I had to try my first attempt at cloning a juice and if any ever this one is worth it. The primary flavors listed are Raspberry, Lime, Orange. I know for a fact I'm using the wrong raspberry here as it's too sharp but what I whipped up on my first go is a great shake and vape. Can't wait to see how it steeps because I used some creams and I know they play better overtime. Would love to get at least a handful of people working on this who have more brand diversity than myself.

My first rendition Shurb Clone v1

  • INW Raspberry 3%
  • INW Lemon Mix 1%
  • INW Orange 0.3%
  • TFA Sweetener 1.25%
  • TFA Bavarian Cream 2%
  • CAP Sweet Cream 0.5%

Now the raspberry I might tone down because its bite is very prominent, the lemon mix is perfect (has lime in it), the orange I think I'm going to up to 0.5% on the next batch, The sweetener/creams I think are spot on for the smooth delivery that Shurb has, but time will tell how those turn out. Let me know what you guys think with your own subbing of flavors etc and lets get this made!

EDIT: Forgot to mention after comparing shurbs thickness to other juices I'm using 70/30 VG/PG ratio and it seems to be spot on.

EDIT2 08/07/2015

  • FA Raspberry 1%
  • INW Raspberry 0.75%
  • TFA Lemon 0.75%
  • FA Lime Tahiti Cold Pressed 0.5%
  • INW Orange (Dilute) 1% (Mixed 90%PG/10%INW Orange in a 5ml tester to be used as a flavoring only, not vaped)
  • TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream 2%
  • FA Meringue 1%
  • FA Fresh Cream 0.5%
  • TFA Sweetener 0.5%
  • TFA Sweet Cream 0.5%

After acquiring more creams and researching flavors this would be my next logical iteration. I'm on vacation the next 2 weeks and don't have TFA Lemon nor FA Raspberry or Lime TCP yet so take this recipe with a grain of salt and look at it more of a solution than a replication. My next step is to work these percentages over til they are at a balance playing with Sweetener to tone down the INW fruits that pop so vividly. (Adding sweetener between 0.5-2% to purposefully permanently mute some of the overpowering notes in the INW fruits). After I feel comfortably with this iteration the next step is to add the same type of fruits but from different vendors to develop the "perfect" taste with each fruit in this. This new recipe still wont be shake-n-vape (INW fruits again ugh they are so good but too potent) but as I said it's been a while since I've used some of these flavors and just recently acquired others.

So whoever has a chance to mix this up I would be more than grateful for your responses and feedback on how it tastes initially and after a few days/week etc.

I'm pretty sure the Raspberry is FlavourArt. Their Raspberry tastes just like the Raspberry in Shurb and Raspberry French.

Yeah from the little info available on this flavor FA Raspberry is the only thing that came up a few times and FA definitely seems to nail the smoother fruit flavors so that's probably it.

Nice work! I've had Jimmy over at my shop a bunch of time, really cool cat. Always keeps me in 500ml of whatever I want, but I'm not a PG fan so it goes really, really slow.

There's a flavor in Shurb that eludes me that I think you're missing. I can't put my finger on it. It's something extremely recognizable but haven't properly discerned it.

Also, I add citric acid to my shurb -- sour shurb is the bomb.

I'll have to try that sour but I'm going for the smooth shurb I love. Dragon fruit perhaps? Seems to be everybody's secret ingredient these days.

I don't think it's dragonfruit. It annoys me because I have figured it out, once, on a beach while I was almost falling asleep. I told a friend who was with me, but they forgot what I said.

Lmfao most epic possible realization, maybe your friend remembers? Also the more I vape my version the more I like it, hold up better with builds below .3 I just hope its not sweetener I'm liking.

I think it's a floral note myself. I tried Hibiscus (CAP) and it kinda fit in there. Also seemed like a little liquid amber was in it but I never got around to getting a percentage right on it.

I have never tried shurb, but I may just have to try it IF I can find it.

Edit: I located some in town. Going to make a run during lunch. Side note, not missing the "uggh what?/your bothering me" attitude you get when dealing with most vape shops in Vegas.

That sounds obnoxious but what do you think of shurb? After my first hit I knew I needed my own version of it in my life.

This is awesome man, thanks. I just started trying to come up with a good rainbow sherbet and/or base. I don't have INW lemon mix or orange, so I will try and sub for them using FA. Not sure which lemon would be closest to the lemon mix. Maybe use some FA tangerine as it is sweeter than orange w/ a touch of INW lime.

Don't even bother, just sub the lemon mix for lime, and FA Raspberry seems to def be the raspberry in it and its def a sweet/lighter orange but I wouldn't do both. Try mixing up with one of each.

Everything I've seen says INW Lemon Mix is the tits. If you have a Lemon Sicily you should be good to go though.

by vabch22over 10 years ago

I guess its a mix of lemons like the name states? May be good in lemonades too. I may have to try some now. And I do have lemon Sicily as a backup.

I spent countless revisions and combinations trying to recreate shurb. Their is something in it that I haven't figured out yet. I've tried Hibiscus (Kinda close), Oba Oba, Liquid Amber, and others trying to fill in that missing note. I kind of gave up on it as I was just spending too much time on trying to tweak it. FA Raspberry is definitely the raspberry though. I'll give your recipe a shot when I mix up again. Will have to order INW Lemon mix and orange or either will substitute them.

Maybe key lime if you have and inw orange is good but I suppose any would do. I don't taste much orange in shurb to begin with but all the citrus' are there. The only thing I feel confident about is the creams for the "base" it definitely recreates the texture and feel of shurb. I'm gonna try without sweetener, more orange, and a hair less raspberry on the next one.

I've made it using blood orange (FW), Blood Orange (SCE), Orange (FA) and Mandarin (FA). Of those I ended up liking the combo of FA Orange/Mandarin. The raspberries I tried are FA and INW. The Lemon/Lime I used was FA Lemon Sicily and FA Lime Cold Pressed. I was up to around revision 24 when I scrapped the whole project and moved on to other juices.

If you have the time its definitely worth picking back up especially if the other guy (sorry on mobile can't remember names) remembers that key ingredient. Personally I'll be actively working on this during the weekends.

Awesome! I got into diy after I tried Shurb, and knew buying 3 bottles of that week wouldn't be good on my wallet. Ill be watching this thread.

Am i missing something here? I wasted my money on a bottle of shurb last week and its just perfume-y and gross. Doesn't resemble sherbert in any way IMO. I tried botboy's recipe a while back and it blew shurb out of the water. I guess everyone's taste is different but I was just really disappointed in this one.

1 points

by DuskMSover 10 years ago

Could you post botboys recipe? I haven't seen it. Also you definitely got a bad/early batch. Get a bottle from somewhere else, at the least you should taste fruits even if you don't like them not perfume.

My other problem was all the PG. I took the bottle back to the store I got it from and let them try it, and they said it tasted normal to them so I figured it was another hype flavor. Im trying to vape more of it now and I definitely get a weird flavor that I cant put my finger on, but the flavor just melds together and taste almost like chapstick to me. His recipe is reallly long:

0.75% - Raspberry (FA)
0.75% - Raspberry (Inawera)
1.5% - Orange (FA)
0.5% - Mandarin (FA)
0.3% - Lime (Inawera)
0.75% - Lime Cold Pressed (FA)
0.75% - Pineapple (FA)
0.5% - Mad Fruit (FA)
0.5% - Liquid Amber (FA)
0.75% - Cherry (FA)
0.3% - Tutti Frutti (FA)
1.0% - Vienna Cream (FA)
0.30% - Fresh Cream (FA)
1.5% - Orange Cream (TFA)
1.0% - Custard (FA)
0.3% - Sweetener (TFA)
0.5% - Citric Acid (%10 Solution)
0.3% - Cotton Candy (TFA)
0.25% - Koolada (TFA)

I didnt have all those flavors so I just did:

.75- Raspberry FA
.75- Raspberry INW
1- Lime cold pressed FA
 1- Cherry FA
 1- custard fa
 1.5- Orange cream TFA
 1- Vienna cream FA
 .5- Fresh Cream FA
 .25- Liquid amber FA

That recipe is terrifying, less is more tbh my palat sure as hell isn't refined enough to taste all that.

Was that botboy's or the one I was experimenting with? Looks similiar to one I posted. If it is the one I posted please be aware that it was a WIP which I abandoned for now. Also dont use FA pineapple.

Edit: Nevermind I think that is botboy's recipe.

My problem was that it was oversaturated with sweetener. It was just so damn sweet. It seems alot of new juices coming to market are super sweet. It was a problem I had with Betty from pinup vapor; just so sweet (But tasty in a way).

by VapeQueen214over 10 years ago

See i have the same problem with betty and lana i believe, theyre both perfum-y as fuck to me

1 points

by Davesnothearover 10 years agoMixologist

Try out my semi-clone of betty. It's not perfumey and less sweet. I like it better than the original.

So it's been a few days, wow the orange came through and I was gonna up it, now I'm thinking about dropping it to .25 the raspberry is still too forward but it's the wrong raspberry so meh I'll drop it a % and see if it plays nicer. Creams are doing their job of smoothing things over without adding their own flavor so I'm sticking with it.

Anyone with more flavors come up with something closer? I'm out of luck with the INW flavorings but at least I have something good to work with.

I need to order FA flavors before I continue, INW is too potent for this.

Nice! Don't have INW Orange, I'll have to grab some and give it a whirl.

1 points

by DuskMSabout 10 years ago

Definitely play with some other ones if you have them. I have yet to ever come across a solid recommendation or testament for any individual orange flavor across the internet but INW Orange is amazing til it isn't. I made the dilution after tasting my first recipe a few days later...orange pledge, all other flavors had faded and made way to their new cleaning overlord. The dilution in combination with the new %'s and sweetener should mellow this out to a nice fresh orange flavor.
