No flavor in (Cap) Golden Pineapple?
submitted over 10 years ago by DownwardSpiralsOne of "The Damned"

So I'm testing flavors, and mixed up 10% in 60 vg. In water, 10% had some flavor (at least to start). However, when I hit it, there was just a touch of sweet, but no flavor. I'm making 5 ml batches for test, so I added .4 ml of flavor, taking it to approx 20%. Still nothing. I can smell it when I squeeze the bottle, but there's nothing in the vape. I'm about to toss the bottle after making a true 20% batch, but even that seems ridiculously high. (At 20%, I should be tasting the dirt on the Dole plantation)

Any ideas? Who makes a really good pineapple for when I throw this out? Thanks!

CAP Golden Pineapple is (to me) a very weak flavor.

Reducing/increasing concentration doesn't seem to have really any impact that I can discern. I've tried it down at 0.5% up to 25% and at no point does it jump up and shout "PINEAPPLE"!

It does give a pineapple esque note to juice, that bitter/tart sharpness that real pineapple carries, but none of the top notes that we expect when tasting pineapple.

For me, I find that CAP Golden Pineapple is best mixed with other pineapple flavors as a rounder to those. I haven't found a pineapple that just kills it, though you may find Inawera Pineapple (ananas) more to your liking.

Here is a weird thing with CAP flavors: they are formulated to all be used at 15-20 drops per 8oz of liquid (for drinking). The odd thing is that the flavor percentages for vaping vary wildly, which is weird because the formulation for consistent potency in drinking should roughly carry over to vaping but it doesn't.

Thanks. At least I'm not going nuts. I'm starting to not be a fan of CAP. I've tried their dragonfruit, this, watermelon, Italian lemon Sicily, and one I can't remember. There seems to be a bottom note of what I'm calling Capella. It's an artificial tasting, almost plasticky flavor that I'm picking up and have noticed when tasting all of my juices at 5%. Have you noticed this?

I have tried CAP Golden Pineapple, Grape, Pomegranate, Juicy Orange, Blackberry, Harvest Berry, True Tobacco, and Energy Drink.

Energy Drink is OK, but the rest are pretty weak and don't stand on their own. In small amounts they can round out a blend but most of them do have that funky Capella soapy flavor you mention.

Like /u/Sandman0 above I have experimented with them in a variety of percentages from 3-20% with the same results.

I've been using Flavor Art for Pineapple. It has a flavor similar to canned pineapple juice and like most FA I've tried it is potent.

5% golden pineapple, add some citric acid, and then try another brand.

I'll have to try that after my next order so I can get some citric acid...

Edit: made next order, forgot citric acid... Dammit.

uhhh. surprised abdada hasnt gotten here first but i will go ahead and say.

you'r first problem is too much flavoring. too much flavoring and it taste and smells flat, like flowers, vomit or cat piss. these are aroma molecules. dont over due the flavoring. second you are mixing in just vg? which hardly carries any flavoring. pg does all the holding for the flavoring pretty much.

Try a 70/30 VG/PG blend.
Also i suggest starting your flavoring at 5% and tweaking from there going up or down by .5 increments :)

Started flavoring in h2o at 5%, didn't taste much. Went to 10, it was ok, so I did my initial mix from that.

I mixed in 60 vg (60 vg/40 pg) initially at 10%. There was no cat piss, no vomit, no dirty grandma's underwear... I mean there was no flavor except for a touch of sweetness where the draw pulled the vape over my tongue, even at 20%. I went back to my Dragonfruit/Watermelon that I made the other night, and tasted that just fine. I also found out that my lemon cheesecake still needs to steep more. The pineapple is still a lie, though.

some flavors are stronger than others. as i said they can become flat. with 40pg i would try lowering the % to atleast 3-4 and see what you get. also i find that doing water testing i literally just get a shot glass. fill it 2/3 water and literally put 1 drop in there.

let it mix, put in mouth. swish around for taste and spit it out. again in the water it could be too much flavoring with how much you put in. giving the same flat taste result.

before tossing, i would defiantly try lowering the percentages and report back :)

5%, and still no flavor. Not even sweetness. I can smell it faintly in the bottle, but it's like I'm vaping straight VG/PG.
