Been dabbling in DIY juice for some time and i've yet to come across a good custard-y flavor.(Haven't attempted a Unicorn Milk Clone yet but I heard it's amazing)
hey man. if you look at some of my posts i am working on my most prized flavor yet. also most intricate.
I am the worlds biggest custard fan possibly. love them to death. honestly. put 100 bottles of the best juice in front of me and i will grab the custard every time.
I'm calling this recipe Heavens Nectar. (the name may be taken, if it is. it isnt suppose to be a clone of it.)
but yeah it has all of my attention right now. abdada knows of it. so if you follow Heavens Nectar threads that will start tomorrow from me. you may just like what you get if you go on the journey with me :) ....or it will end up shit XD but i doubt it.
i am on the same quest as you my friend, I was only working with cap v2 custard since started. I just recently started using v1 to compare what I have been missing with v2.
cap v1 custard is just a completely different level..... I will take the dose of diacetyl that comes with it. I have found in my recipes that TFA French Vanilla deluxe in small percentages really helps cream up the vanilla custard flavor.
I just cannot get into the Dulce de Leche flavoring. tried really hard to. It's just not for me
I'm curious of your thoughts and what you are using... v1 or v2 on your custard journey?
actually i am not. i am really liking the TFA vanilla custard, along with a straw cream and Bavarian cream.
i hear you on the diacetyl :\ lol but ah well. i really hope a lot of custardy flavors come out with none of that stuff lol.
also i am finding more and more that some fruits of the right kind really make for good custards.
I agree completely with the dulce de leche. made a few different recipes with it that a few friends really like. i am just not into it.
however. i must say i am really working hard on getting a perfect custard for me. also, have you tried adding some graham cracker notes in there? it makes the custard have a bakery savory finish to it. right now mine is like a fruit custard cream pie...if i had to describe it. i guess that is what i would say haha.
I think when i get what i'm going for here. any custard fan will love my recipe.
I just got my Flavorah Custard order, and /u/Botboy141 was right: this stuff is magic. I'm currently reformulating everything I make to accommodate it, but I seriously recommend custard fanatics try it. And somehow it's free of diacetyl too.
I just got my orderof 14 flavorah flavors in. What percentage do you think VC should be used at. All of them smell super potent and I see on the website 2-5%
I made this flavor about a week ago. Its amazing - super creamy and buttery. I think its one if my favorites ever but I dont want to get ahead of myself since I just started diy like a week or two ago. Give it a shot please!
3% TFA Bavarian Cream
3% TFA Sweet Cream
2% TFA French Vanilla Deluxe
3% TFA Graham Cracker (Clear)
1% TFA Marshmallow
1% TFA Vanilla Swirl
As I just mentioned in another post I just made a mother's milk clone and I used CAP vanilla custard v2. I just made it today and did a hot water bath for a couple hours and it mellowed out nicely. If the bottle makes it a week I'm curious how it will taste lol.

If you don't mind a little (lot) of diacetyl- try flavors that do have it. Cap Vanilla custard(v1) or not specifically labeled as v2. FA Custards also add a lot of complexity, but don't necessary taste like you expect- their regular custard has a touch of citrus.
